Those new races will likely be added via a server-side update, and there are technical limits to how much can be added through that.

New horses or masks would require a new client-side update, which is unlikely to happen. Plus, better off keeping that type of content for the summer update.

It will be weird if this is the case because it's hard for Rockstar to extend the OP5 for 2 months

I hope they will change their boring level design in RDO!
Let's see what happens in summer update!
Probably it will be some bad design missions that after a few weeks no one plays! 😔

If it’s required a other player to make a heist i can tell will be abandoned in a few days just like LeClerk mission, we need heist solo like Cayo Perico Heist  in gto

yeah, that's what I was getting at when I said our actions should have more real, tangible consequences.
Right now, I could spend an hour shooting up St. Denis, killing dozens or hundreds of cops / bounty hunters, but still be able to walk up to the St. Denis butcher and sell my stuff not even 2 minutes later.
Or walk into the Gunsmith and buy a bunch of guns.
All I have to do is pay off my bounty, get killed and respawn, or loose the wanted level.

Yep, it's a ridiculous and lazy setup.

Having NPC's remember our character for what they have done would make a lot of difference in how the game would feel alive. Should we have a wanted level it would be neat to have NPC characters give our characters a second look, or whisper to one another that they've seen our face on the board.

If our character helped a dove at the saloon from a man who wanted to harm her it would be neat to have the rest of the working women hold our character to a higher regard when we enter their establishment. Or if we returned a couple head of cattle or a flock of stolen sheep back to the rancher at Emerald Ranch, having the farm hands talk about how brave or crazy it was for our character to go after the thieves would be a neat addition.

And if we start trouble in a town like Valentine why don't the townsfolk treat us like they do Arthur in story mode? They are constantly mentioning how they think that Arthur is trouble and he better watch himself when I ride him into town so it isn't like the scripts for such a thing aren't already in game.

I know it's probably too much to ask, no doubt, but with the fools at the wheel this game is not going to stray far from the typical game that they are making it out to be. Red Dead Redemption has the foundation of being more than a typical do this, shoot that type of game.

Space Cowboy

I really hope that the summer update, whether it comes in the form of a role or some other way, will introduce some exciting things we can spend our money and/or gold on. This would be a perfect opportunity for that, what would be the point of "high-stakes robberies" if we had nothing to purchase with our rewards? I don't expect a full array of purchasable properties with this update just yet, but they can slowly introduce things like purchasable wagons, smaller properties etc. This way they can start paving the way for eventual heists that could be the evolution of this upcoming summer update.

Don't want to get my hopes up too much, but we already have plenty of stranger missions that are in fact some outlaw activities, also telegram missions...so I expect something more with this update. Some people are definitely becoming cynical with the apparent lack of updates, but to me it seems reasonable to expect something more with this update. 😛

What happened to the data mined property prices? Is it possible that the new outlaw thing is maybe a role that needs a base of operations? And those data mined properties are the bases?

What do you think people

QABETA3 got updated 40 minutes ago with the update and packs Depot. Well - When was the last time it got updated on a Saturday? I am a bit surprised, but this could also mean...well...nothing.

If there is no new content coming out June 1st they might as well extend the OP, this way I might actually get a chance to complete it lol

Data-mined property prices were placeholders. They were in cash currency too, from what I recall, unlike what some people think that they were gold bars.

There's not much you can base off that. It just means properties were planned since day one. While it would be nice to have them, I don't see us owning the Saint Denis mansion. Assuming the timeline advanced after the main story events, Guido Martelli would still be the owner of that mansion and since we are gonna work with him, I don't expect us to share the same property.

Well, we've been through this drought before and we've been through players speculating the drought is caused by R* coming up with something big and people's expectations get high, then we get crap like naturalist or even worse. So I'm at a wait and see stage. I figure if I'm cynical I won't be disappointed regardless of what they come out with but if they finally do something big I'll be ecstatic.

So, you talked about some free roam events, these ones were in the game files since the moonshiners update, does this mean the update development started in 2019?

I really wish that when you get killed in Red Dead Online and you see the killscreen of the person that killed you that there would have been a feature stating somewhere on it where you can see the players name if the player killed you while using dead eye.

Sometimes it is hard to know if you are being shot by someone who use it or not. I never use it, I think it is a horrible feature in a game with pvp, and the same goes with the ability cards, I only free aim and only open fire if I defend myself I never shoot first.

They extended the Halloween pass for 2 weeks. But I also don't think OP5 will be extended.

Just curious what will happen June 1st, if anything at all.

They may extend OP5 for 3-4 weeks (for new Game Pass players) and then release new content update in the end of June or mid-July.

You are right, if they plan to release GTA Online update in July 23 or 24 as usual, I will not be surprised if they release Red Dead Online update in July 14 or 13

yeah, very good description of what I wish the game would feel like.

Red Dead is in a lot of ways different from GTA, but it's still a bit too much like "Cowboy GTA".
The mission design is very similar (including timers that have to be dealt with).
The grind / money / gold making loop is very similar - 2 to 3 resources which have to be resupplied in a mission or bought (resupply every 50-60 minutes).
Wish they'd be more creative and take it in a different, more immersive direction.

And I wish they'd let us be part of something bigger.
Why can't we be part of a gang of NPCs? Or form our own? Maybe we'll get to be part of Martinelli's gang in some way, who knows.

there were two leaks.
The first one had $1000 for all of them, which looked like placeholders.
The other one had prices from 45 to 600. No currency. The values look like gold prices to me.

Qabeta3 updates mean that they are still working on the update so nothing interesting because we already know that they are working on the update

Isn’t that what Posses are?

More than anything, I just want to be a part of the world rather than be an outside observer. That’s what makes MMOs work; making the players feel immersed. You’re not pursuing money just for the sake of having it in those games, but because that money is used to enhance your experience. And I don’t mean just buying a new hat or a new pair of boots.
Honestly GTAO fails at this as well, but the sheer depth of the toybox players have to rummage through makes the tiny shallow sandpit semi-enjoyable. RDO, by nature of its setting, doesn’t have this toybox. So we’re left with the shallow and tiny sandpit but with no toys to play in with it. I don’t necessarily want more toys, I just want more sand. Because a sandpit with no sand is hardly a sandpit at all.

I'm sorry but, as it stands, this update doesn't excite me that much. It's cool to get new content, especially it being outlaw-themed, but this honestly seems like the last of a series of downfalls in size (and maybe even quality) of updates for Red Dead Online, where they've been getting smaller and smaller for each new release. It's a trend that started back with Frontier Pursuits and Moonshiners, which are in that order the biggest two updates that the game has ever received, and from there it's all been downhill. From the description, this "array of diverse new missions" alludes to something similar to a Story Missions string. Not Stranger Missions, but not a new Role either (or even anything remotely similar: there's not even a mention of some sort of progression system for this new content!) "Array of diverse new missions" sounds like the "array of diverse new content" used to describe the small Los Santos Summer Special update in GTA Online last year, with the exception that that was followed by the biggest ever GTA Online update, while for Red Dead Online, who knows what's going to be next... The lack of any sort of upgrade for RDR2 for the next generation of consoles and the shift of focus that Rockstar seems to be making not only towards GTAV expanded and enhanced, but also towards GTA III and the GTA series in general doesn't help the situation. And we also must consider that all these new players from the standalone version and Game Pass are eventually going to run out of content to play and Gold Bars to purchase -- and then what? It's quite a bleak outlook.

Isn't there more than one mansion in Saint-Denise? Also between two mansions there is an empty property that would be perfect for them to add a new mansion in. They should also just confirm RDO takes places in an alternate universe, it will give them a ton of creative freedom.

at the moment, a Posse is not much more than a mechanic to let other players join one of my missions, or a free roam shootout.
It does not do a good enough job of creating the kind of needed immersion you describe.

The immersion I've felt when playing as part of a posse came from the friends I was playing with. That's a factor outside of the game.
When those friends stopped playing the game - there goes me feeling part of something bigger.
What does a lone wolf player do?  Plenty of those out there.

I agree almost 100%.
After Moonshiners we got Naturalist update, which was substantial.
I does fit into the overall point you're making though. It wasn't received nearly as well as other updates. My explanation: most people weren't interested in the content.

The fact they give us 8 new races now fits that trend as well. If RDO had a passionate, large racing community, I'd understand it. But it doesn't. At all.

A Youtuber made a survey recently. He got 5k answers back, that's a nice sample size.
He asked them : "What is your opinion on races in Red Dead Online"

The answers:

2%    I love them
12%  Good, but could be better
48% Meh
18%  Not great
20%  Hate them

Why release content that's only appreciated by 14% of the player base? Why even allocate resources to it? Does R* understand what the player base wants? It doesn't seem like it.
R* is either tone-deaf, or these 8 races were finished already just waiting to go as an attempt to bridge a gap in content. Like throwing a Ritz cracker to a starving man.

I won't comment on the summer update yet, I have to see it for myself. Many players wanted real outlaw content, so the setting is promising.
Let's hope R* does a real good job.

The Naturalist is as big as Moonshiners, the update probably will include new free roam events, I doubt it will be small
