Not unusual for games to go on sale alongside a major update launch.

I wouldn't lose hope just yet. They released Newswire at 2pm EST one time, after 2pm I would lose hope of getting one.

So it’s good to guess the update should coming out on the next 3 weeks .. so probably another 2 week event ( + XP + Cash ) waiting us next week

I expected it two weeks ago, so I have the feeling that it got delayed. Could have failed console certification, could just not be ready.

Hey, there is always a little hope for us getting the update next week.

 

You guys remember the last update that has been release without any announcement or anything, just a surprise. I think they are gonna do the same. At least i hope.

I hope I'm wrong but I really don't think they will this time. This will be treated (or should be treated) as RDO's big relaunch. It's the start of what RDO is actually meant to be long term. It's RDO's first update that's the equivalent of something like the casino update in GTAO.

 

I 100% expect a big marketing push which means no shadow drops.

At this point it really feels like an internal delay, and behind the scenes they must be in a panic to get this out. Surely they know its now far past what most people expected for a release window.

I don't know, R* knows that the Red Dead Online community is far less active than the GTA Online one, and that they make way more money with the design of microtransaction of GTA. It's far more difficult for R* to earn in RDO for a lot of reasons, and the fact that this update we're waiting for is supposed to bring back a lot of players was the same with the May Update. So i understand if R* want to release it like a big surprise to get the hype. But still, i might be wrong.

Well, i think they work on this update for a very long time. First time they talked about it was with the release of the May Update, so i think they started working on it a few months before this. But still, if they want to take their time to work on this update, we can't blame them, one of the only reason we are all upset is because R* don't say anything about it.

They already have for weeks now. In every tweet, FB post they place the sh*t storm is real, just like a few weeks before the official 'no more beta' launch.

It kinda feels like you've been granted a summer vacation in May, after requesting it months before. But, your boss won't let you know WHEN you can go on a vacation, just that it will be this Summer. "You can go on your Summer vacation soon. I'll let you know in the coming weeks". 

 

While waiting for your boss to give you a solid date for your leave, all you see him do is granting you an extra cup of coffee, a price reduction on a sarny from the canteen, and a new company hat for the current and the next week.  

Every time you ask him about your vacation, he won't answer. After conversing with your co-workers about it, they tell you it can still be soon, as Summer hasn't ended yet. 

 

I'm pretty sure most people will be pissed off, when they finally get the notification that their Summer vacation starts at the very last day of Summer, while anticipating it for months.

Absolutely right.

 

They have been misleading I don’t care what anyone says. Yes it’s still technically summer but it’s like the PSN store having a summer sale. They wouldn’t wait until the last week of summer to start it would they? The implication was they would release this during the summer so that we could enjoy it during the summer. Also I think because they announced it back in May the wait has been an eternity.

Remember back in early 2017 when R* said more news on RDR2 would be coming throughout the Summer? Well, guess when they did show us something new ... yes, at the last day of Summer that year, last minute actually and on top of that, it was just a TEASER for the 2nd official trailer releasing an entire week later.

Lol R* first said RDR2 would come in Fall 2017, then they delayed to Spring 2918 and after that it became October 26, 2018

It might be entirely wrong, but I do feel that this update will be an entire overhaul of Red Dead Online. 

 

Why? First of all an all new character creator (with what I think a forced appearance reset). Possibly adding hair and beard growth as seen in SP (a quite ofter requested feature).

 

Then we get to the roles, which instead of being a simple escapee from jail, you'll now be able to take on jobs fitting your playstyle and literally create your own story within the game world.

 

Don't forget the brand new controls and movement, which will create their own new experience with them as well.

 

This is why I don't think it is a random update. They need this update to be flawless and bring back millions of players to online...
