A mask? Wow, they are really lavishing us with gifts.

Yeah, it's just a token gesture made only to help with their marketing and cross promos, it's no game changer, which is a good thing for those not keen on one game or the other for any reason.

I'm just hoping RDRO gets a couple of spells like GTA does. We don't need a snowy spell at Christmas and Halloween is always a possibility so it could be fun.

Though equally I was very surprised they didn't do something bigger and better than GTA for the 4th July weekend too. That's another that could fit the holiday and game/time period well but could be a much deeper event week than GTA's. I guess as this game is still building up, next year might be different.

And new themed weeks/weekends too would be cool.

Is this update gonna be worth it? I mean is the content gonna be plentiful. Is there gonna be twice as much clothing to pick from? Four new weapons, three new horse breeds? How many more missions? Ten?

No one has a clue, because Rockstar doesn't say anything. Until they do, all we can do is guess and hope.

It seems like Rockstar has a ton of ability cards and showdowns planned for the future, or some could be cut content.

One ability card is called "The Long Game" which from the name sounds like the opposite of The Short Game.

Dealing more damage to targets that are far from you, but less to closer targets

Is this info being gleaned from the Social Club update you were talking about or left overs from launch?

This info wasn't discovered by me, I don't take credit for it.

I don't know how it was retrieved but I'm posting it on behalf of someone else who gave me the info, yeah I believe this info date back to launch or day one patch but I could be wrong.

Surprisingly enough, it contain info like Sadie being a stranger mission giver in RDO.

I counted 33 new ability cards, some of them could be cut content but you know, it's just too many cards to consider all of them as cut content.

I guess you better prepare yourself ?

There's "Canoneer", "War Horse", "The Eternal Flame" and one is called "Aint Gonna Die This Easily" sounds like some OP ability card.

Imagine ability card dripfeed. Now that is the stuff of nightmares.

Ability cards be gone!

"Aint gonna die this easily" sounds like a card where you can pick your self up after being downed. "The Eternal Flame" maybe something that extends fire duration?

IF they are going to stick with ability cards as is we do need more depth and variety, combine that with good balancing and they'll be less... horrible. Everyone using the same OP cards right now is part of the problem.

But really they just need to completely redo the whole system and do something more grounded and interesting with RPG style character upgrades.

Sigh.

I don't know why I should have expected anything different on their behalf. This will truly be a test of just how much BS that I can endure before I shelve the game completely.

F*ck your ability cards, f*ck showdowns, and f*ck your lame af playlist style format that won't seem to go away.

I guess we'll see if I'm still playing this game six months, maybe a year from now; I'm thinking most likely not if this is truly the direction they're headed with it.

If this is the general direction Rockstar is moving in, I'm not only shelving THIS game, but won't be buying any future games with Online tendencies from them ever again.

Faith in Rockstar Games is at a stellar level on the lowest side.

I'm with you; I've always enjoyed the single player campaigns in R* games and I'm still able to enjoy certain aspects of GTAO, but this leaves me very little hope for the future.

R* needs a serious competitor with their style of games. They have so much potential but it's always being wasted on sh*t that is either broken or loathed by the more vocal members of their fan base.

This game is moving far too slow as well; the silence doesn't build my hype, it kills it because I start to wonder if I'm just wasting my time with something that I'll eventually grow to despise. If all of this is what is in store for GTA VI, I may seriously reconsider my long-time devotion to their games as a whole.

Got to thank @Fun 2for sharing some information, stepping up when R* are lacking, as usual.

More cards, especially if they are all PvP focused, isn't a prospect I'm relishing.

Looking on the bright side, maybe some cards are specific to the roles and focused on abilities useful to each role.

So in the foreseeable future we'll get:

- 33 ability cards

- New showdown modes .

- More fetch quests

- The new special arrows

- A dog who won't move from your camp.

- A metal detector.

- The Red Dead Online premium edition (mentioned during Take Two's conference call)

Really exciting! 🙂.

Keep in mind, all this info date back to launch, you usually see developers leaving pieces of info on their games for future content, but this doesn't mean everything that was mentioned will make it to public.

Also, there's no way to check if changes happened to them because we are talking about outdated info.

In other words, it may not be as worse as you all expect it to be, we could get new changes along the road that will make ability cards at least bearable like an option to disable them during PVP modes or lots of nerfs.

One thing we can be sure of is that R* won't remove ability cards, they will keep them

I would be fine with this as long they give the option to disable in Showdowns. As of now PIB and SB gets abused the most in Showdowns.

I'm much more charmed with Ubisoft at the moment. Their single player games get decent DLC and additional content, even after almost a year from release. AC:Odyssey released about the same time as RDR2 did, but it got 2 major DLC releases and still has content added. They even have a story creator for fans to create their own questlines, which you can share with other players. I'm still playing the game regularly and have over 300 hours of gameplay in it already and still have stuff to finish up on. If you think RDR2 has a large map, Odyssey's is much bigger, much more activity and also a stunning world to see and better HDR.

I'm at the point of never spend a cent on Rockstar anymore, but support other developers instead. Rockstar won't miss my few cents, but would rather not see it go to a competitor.

Ubisoft also has a much better way to keep their player base informed. Every month they list you additions for the next month. No shady "coming soon" info.

In terms of supporting games there's straight up no one better than Ubisoft in the AAA industry at the moment. Years of support, tons of free and premium content, good communication, the works. They turned Rainbow Six Siege from a diamond in the rough that most people overlooked into one of the biggest FPS games around right now because of the support they gave it.

To put that into numbers, Siege on Steam peaked at 18k concurrent players at launch and dipped as low as 11k concurrent players about 2-3 months later. Today, Siege peaks at 100k+ concurrent players every day and those are just the Steam numbers.

If you ever wonder why this "game as service" stuff has taken off so well, Rainbow Six Siege's success is exactly why.

And I especially appreciate their seamless PvP in Watchdogs 2. You only encounter other players when attending Multiplayer missions. If you're just minding your own business and do single player missions, you'll never see another player in sight. Rockstar has a lot to learn from Ubisoft for sure.

And a horse lantern! 😜

Anyways, I think we are all here waiting for something that will never arrive. The game will still be more frustrating than fun and we'll still here, wasting our time hoping for R* to make a Red Dead Online: Realm Reborn, or whatever y'all want to call it.

And once again, if any of you think that 2014's GTA Online had the same amount of content as 2019's Red Dead Online the chances are you have never played it or you are suffering from Alzheimer. Where are the properties? Where's the content creator? Why can't I have a flying balloon or something to grind for?.

And what about the dual currency? I felt alienated from the game the moment I saw the gold bars and that they wanted to held me captive with those RNG daily challenges. Thank god I have more games to play, frustrating nonetheless.

What I see is a game with the possibility to be the multiplayer game I always wanted. Just the thought of owning my own ranch can make millions of ability cards, pvp issues, etc irrelevant to me.

BUT , im not sure what R* wants this game to be or if they have plans to continue supporting it. We will see with with the summer update some indications of the direction that the game takes.

Aside from this and talking about Ubisoft supporting their games, I ask myself , how big is the RDO developer team and what have they been doing since January.
