They didn't even put the Newswire article at the top of the page... I know, it's a small thing, but it's telling in my opinion. Not even those 2 days of highlight before being replaced by the GTA Online article at the top

Since the next Outlaw Pass is already within the files, it's a clear indication that the next update is still months away.

 

Being slightly optimistic, if it's expected to arrive somewhere in June or July, that's like 5 or 6 months of development. That sounds like a reasonable timespan to expect at least a nice update.

I agree with your reasoning. It makes sense. 

It does, however, go against Rockstar's track record during the last 12+ months for RDO. 
Look at how much quality content the game has needed since the roles first come out, and compare that to what the game received. 
Look at all of last year - Covid notwithstanding. How much did we get? How much time did they have? 

I'm not talking about unrealistic expectations or hype videos. Like you said, a "reasonable timespan" has passed many times over, without a "nice" update. 
We've received "OK updates", and waaaay too little of them.

I'm not dissapointed because I expected such an information. When June/July will come, we'll get another crap and boring content that can be finished in 2 days. Then we'll have to wait next 4 months for another BS. It'll be coming full circle again and again. It's a shame that game with such a potential is being wasted so much.

If we are dismissing the specifics of each update, then Frontier Pursuits took them like 3 months? Even though, it was likely in development further than that, like 8 months or so. So, I still feel like 6 months is reasonable for at least a nice update. Maybe, I should emphasize on the very least bit.

correct. I don't expect any of the nice, substantial, high quality updates the game needs and players want until R* releases them. 

If your metric about 6 to 8 months for a nice update like Frontier Pursuits is correct, why haven't they come out with another nice update like that?
Frontier Pursuits came out Sep-10-2019. 
In the 1.5 yrs since then, they released Moonshiner role (Dec-13-2019), Naturalist (Jul-28-2020), 10-level BH extension (Dec-01-2020). 
I'm not counting outlaw passes and smaller tweaks here and there. 

That's not enough content - neither quality, nor amount - for 1.5 yrs. I don't see that in line with your metric of 6-8 months for a nice update, even if I take a slowdown because of Covid into consideration. 

What specific, objective data points make you believe they'll start to release "nice" updates any time soon ? 

To be clear, I'm not trying to argue with you. You're the R* expert, I'm not. I'm asking questions to help me understand where the game is, and where it's going. 
And if / when they release amazing quality content in line with the game's potential, I'll be super super happy.

Rockstar themselves calling the Naturalist update "massive" was the first red flag.

And the naturalist role was basically recycled from single player. Moonshiners was the last good update they did. That actually had decent content. Property, story missions etc. They have had plenty of time to release another good update since then.

Well, I wouldn't consider a "nice" update a synonym of a "substantial, massive, amazing, extraordinary" update.

 

The strange bit that at the very least suggest to me the possibility of such update, is Rockstar decision to include the next Outlaw Pass within the files, instead of excluding both the Pass and the Telegram missions to release them as a new March/April update.

Lol this guy......He obviously works for/gets money from Rockstar, just look at his Twitter...not to mention he's been right on about every single update since he started posting. He said a "nice" update and then came back and reposted to explain that "nice" essentially means mediocre....This a complete give away that they have nothing substantial coming and not a clue when they'll be done. Check the Newswire, Rockstar has gta online as priority #1. RDO makes them no money and is basically an annoying chore for them at this point in time. I just wish Rockstar would grow a spine and be up front with us instead of sending this guy in here to do damage control for them.

Work for them? I simply don't. I wasn't expecting a "substantial" update. If I were to say that, you wouldn't believe it anyway, yet you consider what I stated before as a give away.

 

I don't see GTAO receiving another island this summer to have it prioritized as much as Cayo Perico was, nor do I see them dropping RDO support anytime soon.

Well it did MASSIVELY fix animal spawns, since they HAD to with it (then it broke them, then fixed them again, or really I'm not sure of the order.)

 

They let us sit in a game, with broken animal spawns, FOREVER and then finally bothered to fix it with a new job that DEPENDED on them directly.

That left me a bit salty, though I enjoyed animals being in the game again.

They seem clueless about what your average player wants, though your average player posts what they 

want.

 

Some players want more to do solo/alone, such as a Ranch type thing/housing.

Other players want more to do with others/posse such as heists.

Saving the game would be doing BOTH, but not forcing either playstyle to do 
EITHER.

 

RDO will end up being a self fulfilling prophesy, for Rockstar; they think it isn't doing so hot,

so they won't bother adding what players would like, so it won't do so hot. Then they will

say that players just did not like the game as much as GTAO, while actually a lot of us 

liked it much more.

Yan was the one who used to release actual leaks, Tez looks into the game files more than anything, and hes honestly just making an educated guess based on the timetable and R*s history. I don't even think Yan worked for them, I think he just had an inside person leak them stuff.
