RDO Next Updates Speculation & General Chat (Part I)

My dream update for March is a small Trader expansion (or a small DLC in general), and Rockstar announcing a bit of a roadmap for the year, particularly for this summer and the December update. Doesn't have to be anything detailed, even just some teasers would be fine. No one would get angry at them if they announced some sort of heists, or robberies, or properties, even if they put out the sh*ttiest update of all time in March. Imagine all the hype it would create. Also, they could charge A LOT of gold for these properties, simultaneously bringing back old players for something new to do, and the new players, which I bet really want that 600 Gold Saint Denis mansion.

 

But, of course, we're just going to get the Outlaw Pass 5

That sounds really nice. But, as you already told, we're just getting the OP 5. I think the next update will be as bad as the latest one. Like I wrote before: This game has so much potential. But Rockstar doesn't make much money with it, so us, the loyal playerbase, are just waiting and waiting and waiting for something BIG to happen

They've not really added anything to Red Dead Online that isn't much different to most of the side missions from Story Mode. Yes, they're more involved than the Story Mode counterparts, but they've not really added anything new, well perhaps the Collector Role, I mean the Naturalist Legendary Animals are just reskinned version of the Story Mode Legendary Animals.

 

Hopefully, we may find out on March 16th! It will just most likely be a newswire detailing Outlaw Pass 5 and giving players one or two weeks to finish Outlaw Pass 4 if they haven't already. 

 

If we get any type of content update other than OP5, it's likely to be a Trader expansion with 10 extra ranks, similar to the Bounty Hunter expansion update. Most of the content is already in the game, so it's not as if Rockstar have to do much for these 'expansions' that they can class as 'new content or continuing content'!

 

If it's not a Trader expansion, maybe they'll add the content that was cut from the Naturalist Role involving Gus, since he is just doing nothing after you've bought all the Legendary Animals coats and anything else from him, and he had / has scripting and audio for the Sighting Missions just like Harriet.

 

Perhaps they cut Gus from giving missions as they didn't want two 'Mission Givers' offering exactly the same missions end have been working on some hunting style missions for Gus or something.

 

I cannot think of what the Trader Role needs expanding on, unless they're thinking of linking some elements of the Trader Role and the Naturalist Role together, maybe that's how we get some sort of Fishing Role, which may not be a Role itself.

Yea, I don't need a mansion either.  I'd rather expand on the camp, add more people helping to give it more of feel like story mode camp, just not as big.  I wouldn't mind being able to rent rooms at the local inns.

The problem with their hype is that it never matches what they end off releasing. They've had some great ideas but the way they implemented them has been pretty much a downer.

Like Black & White's, or the little shack in big valley where the bear attack in story mode is.  I'd go for some small little shack or hut like that.

Darn, those are lame since once you do them 3 times they are always "free aim."

That ruins something I would have kept doing sometimes, so for me it is totally wasted content;

they should have let you have a choice of having them free-aim or not.

I can't really see them adding the outlaw pass without ONE of the trades, at least, getting prestigious/more levels like Bounty Hunter did.

Did anyone else think that was YOUR room at first? That is what I thought at first, until I saw other players saying it was Magmaybe that's how we get some sort of Fishing Role, which may not be a Role itself. gie's room.

Yeah, just tying that in with trader would be fine with me; it is lame how

Cripp's wants carcasses but you can't ever give even the "big" fish

(yet you can sell steehead trout for carcasses sold to butcher.)

 

I mean, the Hunting Wagon works with fishing (5 large fish in it.)

Odd that it doesn't tie in with trader, since I make regular use of it

for the trader dailies like "20 carcasses in 10 minutes" (easy to stuff

10 medium in the Hunting Wagon, making that daily WAYYYY easier.)

Agree with you here, as well as ALL legendary bounties.  They should have given the option to choose difficulty level like they did with the moonshine story missions.  I enjoy the free aim bounties...WITH FRIENDS.  When I'm alone, I'd prefer to choose the level.

My camp works just fine.

I'd pay 600 gold for a permanent camp in Roanoke Ridge, in the uppermost right corner of the map near the waterfall. I've been moving camp from one place then back to Roanoke repeatedly,  trying to pitch my camp in this one spot since Monday and only hit it this morning (Wednesday). And I play in solo lobbies 99% of the time and it still won't move there. Best spot in the game for me though I do hate doing long distance deliveries from there (but if I move my camp to a better delivery spot, I'd probably never get that camp for a long while).

I love that area.  My favorite camp location is the one at Wappiti though.  Almost makes it feel like your own little area

I don't see the purpose owning mansions or whatever large properties and the like, as it's not as if it will be much use, since Rockstar will still make you travel to other areas to start missions etc. And no doubt we'll get some NPCs that moan at us daily just like Cripps or something that will annoy us after a while.

All we need is more NPC bitching. Most already give us crap about the fact we breath the same air they do. They own every road and get uppity if you dare travel on it. They get uppity when they insist on aiming their horse to where you are, regardless of how many times you change the side of the road you're on. Even in story it happens.

This is just another thing that highlights how differently we all play this game. Since I solo a lot, I'm reminded of it most during the pre- and post- PvP intermissions as players are standing around, posing. Most players are dressed in their "finery," much of it Gus-inspired, absolutely none of which I have purchased. I'd never spend a dime on any of that stuff (besides, Harriet wouldn't like it). 

 

But a central place from where I can hunt and fish as I take in the wonders of this game? Now that I would pay for. It all depends on how one plays the game and what you use the game for. I play RDO to relax (and most times after a session of CoD).

I believe many expire march 15 when the pass ends.  Others issued as promotions ect. since the pass has been out expire March 31, unless it was for pass xp

Sense of progression, an actual place in the world to call our own, a place to spawn; loads of reasons.

 

Mostly for me its a sense of progression, no matter how rich I am I'm still forced to sleep in the woods with a tramp.

To be frank, I will be suprised if R* announce new major update in March. I don't remember if they released any DLC in the same month as OP ended, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Medium sized shack on the San Luis River, with a dock for a row boat or a canoe, small horse corral and herb garden. I would pay 300 gold bars for that - 600 gold bars if it's on the other side of river in Mexico.

 

Sidenote: Rockstar could give players a small coastal village in Mexico; leaving the larger map off limits.

Maybe we could buy an optional makeup table or mirror that lets us change our makeup and/or hairstyles at home! Oh and I want to see my dog in the shack laying next to the fireplace

I haven't seen or heard Gus' scripting and audio. Is there a link you can provide? Am curious about this

I wonder if the 10 level Trader expansion will be Taxidermy related. What do you think ? IIRC someone found an image that was a Wheeler & Rawson catalog page not that long ago. 

In any case, I've been stuffing my satchel with 3-star small birds, toads, frogs etc , for when they come out with the taxidermy content. 
It's been fun hunting small birds especially. Some of them are rare, almost like a legendary animal hunt without the clues. 
It calms me down, very nice change of pace

have you tried moving to different locations right before trying to spawn your camp? 
If the camp spot I want isn't taken by another player, I can make Cripps spawn a camp in the exact spot I want quite reliably.
There seems to be a sweet spot, I can't be too far and not too close. 

When I did those ultra-short local trader deliveries to Benedict Point, I knew where to stand at Scratching post so the game would spawn my camp where I wanted it. 
Have tried in other areas too... it works well
