You're right about that, but what about the new players then? The way they've done things with the latest update has f*cked things up even more for the economy. Now there's the old players with tons of gold and nothing to spend it on, and the new players have basically no way of getting that same amount without feeling obligated to buy microtransactions.

I think some veterans don't realize that earning gold, while harder than before, still it's pretty easy to amass a decent amount in a short amount of time. I started playing a few days before the nerf, so i've never earned more than .25 gold bars per daily. And right now i've earned 372 gold bars, and honestly i've rarely go out of my way to heavily grind gold, most of it i got it while playing some missions out of fun, and sometimes taking advantage more of the daily challenges when i'm earning .25. As well, Rockstar lately has been adding more missions that give you gold, so at least now there is more variety to get gold without getting repetitive fast (39 infamous bounties, 3 new legendary bounties, exchanging xp for gold, and now these telegram missions which there are more to come). But obviously, it does take a while to get this amount of gold, way more than before the dailies nerf, so obviously there are going to be more players that want everything right away and buy more gold bars, specially the new ones

372 Gold Bars in 12 weeks:

If you complete every daily challenge every day for 12 weeks straight (which is unlikely) you could make about 150 Gold max (not counting role challenges, this calculation changes if you assume that you buy 3 roles for 45 gold to 70 gold or all roles for 95 gold and complete all role challanges every day, effectively doubling your gold payment bringing you to 300 gold just for dailies, more incentive for players to buy gold to unlock roles early on).

Missions give you 0.08 Gold for 3 minutes up until Minute 12.

So in the best case scenario when you complete 12 minute missions back to back without break all the time (which is unlikely) you need to play 140 hours just in the mission to make the other 222 Gold needed to reach the 372 Gold mark.

That is unlikely since you are not just spending time in missions when playing.

Dailies take time as well and can not always be completed in missions.

Given all that you probably need to spend at least 220 hours to reach that goal, and even more if you are not specifically grinding gold.

You can say earning gold is not that hard, especially if you play regularly.

But many people starting out that don't want to spend that time, for them it will be easier to simply buy some gold to buy the things they want, or simply move on.

I think the RDO economy is overall decent. There are actually problems the other way around where as a veteran there is not really stuff to buy. But I can see as a beginner who wants to have some stuff early on and maybe only wants to put in a couple of dozen hours, and not hundreds, it feels like a steep hill to climb.

Agreed, making gold it's not that hard, and you can earn a decent amount of gold in not so much time, but yeah there are going to be people who won't want to play like i did, i have 275 hours played, just to get that amount and a lot of players won't spend that amount of time because they don't want to, so they'll buy gold bars (Also, i took advantage of the 3x gold on the festive series in december, i got a decent amount of gold bars, that was one of the times that i did something different only to earn gold). And yeah, Rockstar should add more stuff to buy with gold bars, and the best things i can think of is adding properties to the game, they can cost a lot of gold bars and would be a great addition to the game.

Being retired, I have nothing but time on my hands. Between PS4 and PC I have over 4000 hours played. I was surprised to see how many hours I have on PC, 2700 in the year since it's release, especially since I haven't played more than a few hours in the past 2 months. I didn't realize it was THAT much. Guess I should look into getting a life. So I had the time to put in and the payouts weren't that big a deal for me.

Many people don't have a lot of time to play. Between work, families and whatever they have an hour or 2 available every day. They have to squeeze time in for the game because life keeps them busy unlike those of us who have to squeeze time in for life cuz the game takes up so much of our time. So the gold payout is extremely pathetic for those people and they are pretty much forced to buy gold if they ever want to get ahead, and that's what R* wants and everything R* has been doing has been toward that goal.

Yes, there are people who can barely play the game in a day, which is understandable. But also, it's not how much time you've got to play but how much time you've played. If i've played, for example 100 hours in just one month, and another person played 100 hours but on 4 months, in theory we should be getting similar amounts of gold (in theory, obviously it will never be the same). If i have the chance to play only 1 hour per day, then that means it'll take more weeks for me to go through all of the content then someone who plays 4 hours every day, in both of these scenarios i can have the same enjoyment and fun, with the difference that if i play 4 hours per day, i'll get bored of the game faster then if i play 1 hour a day. not sure if i made my point clear lol, i feel this is a bit messy

I've been playing for almost 3 weeks now (got back into it when trader sales got bonuses), and sure I have all the roles so can, in theory, do 9/15 dailies every day if I wanted to which takes like 2 hours max, and I earned about 70 gold bars so far

keep in mind that's not just dailies, that's treasure maps, mission rewards, resetting challenges

making gold isn't as hard as people pretend it is

I started playing exactly after the nerf (bought standalone). In exactly 21 days i had already bought all 5 roles and the expansion of BH plus the outlaw pass just from playing the game, it still very easy to earn gold, i now have 210 gold bars.

*sigh* It's the old thing, the vast majority of people don't have the time to log on each day even to do one daily. Places like this and Reddit are echochambers of hardcore players or people who too much time on their hands.

Also, another thing is that while it may be easy to make Gold now veteran players remember when it was much easier and we will not applaud the new system. Just because you make enough money to pay your bills does not mean you should bend over and take half your wage.

Yes, but people look at time as in days or weeks or months and if they know the will not be able to play much they will be more likely to buy gold to get ahead. It's like trying to catch up to longer term players. People don't want to spend the rest of their lives trying to get to level 100.

Also, many people spend gold on cosmetic things and when something of quality, such as a role or something needed to advance the role, etc., comes along that costs gold they don't have enough. Solution, buy gold. I rarely spend gold on anything so I have over 2000 gold. My friend has played as long as me but has 60 gold. So it's not necessarily how fast you get gold but how much is spent on things that, let's face it, are unnecessary to advance your game status. If you hoard gold, such as me, then the payout is fine. If you need gold quickly for something, well you can take a week or so to get it or buy it.

How many hours per day do you play?

Yeah. People tend to think everyone has the same amount of time that they do. I can sit in the game 14 hours a day if I want and rake in gold. I also realize most people can't so I won't go around saying how easy it is to build up a supply of gold because when your play time is very limited it is not easy. There were stretches I played between 30 minutes and an hour per day, and that was before the gold nerf, and my gold stash was not building up in a way that I would consider "easy earnings".

Besides, how much a person thinks is a good intake of gold is based on their own wants or needs. People who don't use gold often aren't bothered with the current situation. Someone who is focused on getting gold fast will find the current system is pathetic.

You're right about that. Worst thing R* did was increase the payout back when. Removing something that was added is not a very good move. But it was part of the strategy to bring in more new players who never saw the increase and get them to buy gold. They weren't concerned about the long time players.

I actually wouldn't mind a trader update in march, only if it means we get new and big stuff in the summer and December. Personally I liked the bounty hunter update, what I didn't like is that it was a December DLC. I hope we can buy a shop or some sort of property for trader update.

Also is the trader expansion being a brand new fishing role (like moonshiner was) completely out of the question? they did talk about a fishing role in their interviews late last year.

Shrek Realista

Earn gold in RDO is pretty easy when you don't have anything to do IRL and only play one game. If you're a player like me, who usually plays a lot of different singleplayer and don't stay stuck in a specific game, and sometimes stops for a multiplayer, you won't find much fun in RDO. Even playing with friends will be boring because you have to grind gold bars anyway to buy a role. It's easy to say "still very easy to earn gold" when you treat the game like a second job/life.

When Rockstar announced RDO, I thought it would be something like RDR1 multiplayer but better, not a grinding bullsh*t game with mobile games microtransactions.

I don´t think we will get a property before we have cleared our name..... Or I hope so! I was hoping for a upgrade much later for the trader roll. When we move away from the camp to some sort of fixed placed to live in or they going to force us to rent a shed or barn where we can put Cripps and the trader stuff!

I mostly hope for an option to discontinue the trader roll!

The bounty update wasn´t that bad but it needs more improvement. Don´t know if it is a bug or it suppose to be so but some missions you just don´t get a timer! And that I wish was for every mission.

But as downloadable content for December it was meh!

The trader role has become kind of stale lately.

The bounty hunter update made the role more interesting and I hope for same changes to trader.

Turn in XP for gold. More variety in supply missions. More variety in sell missions. More upgrades for the delivery wagon, make it faster, more protection, customization. A more agile hunting wagon.

Dynamic events that reward materials or goods or even serve as a supply mission to make things more seamless. Similar to random bootlegger missions from moonshiner.

A new free roam event, so far there is only trade route, maybe protecting a column of wagons with other players.

This seems spot on actually.

I'm willing to bet "prestige trader" is how they squeeze train robberies in. They'll add dynamic events that will place Materials or supplies on a nearby train. "Steal the goods from the train to benefit your Trader Business"

This would be similar to an already existing supply mission but could basically act as a dynamic event with a little bit higher reward and difficulty (tougher enemies, more enemies and/or maxim gun on the train).

But in this case it would be a little bit more competitive if other players are nearby that want the same supplies. Wonder if R* will actually do that in the end, because I think as of right now we don't have anything resembling a competitive dynamic event.

Yep, i haven't spend more than 20 gold bars on cosmetics, everything else only on roles. And there are a lot of people who will buy a lot of cosmetics and not have enough gold, and will go to buy more.

We know gold prices will be constantly going up, up, up. Just look at how much they went up for that animals studies thing...which is a pointless waste of time. Started at 5 gold and is up to 12 or 15 gold for the 3rd installment. Quite a jump. So if prices jump that much for stuff no one wants, imagine what will happen with things people do want.

I suspect the outlaw passes will get to the point where we won't get any of the gold back that we pay for the pass. The last one we only got 75% back. Kinda weird since each pass is getting worse and worse.

One day we'll look back at the gold prices today and think we were in 7th heaven. 🙂

I have to say, since the streak reset, I no longer feel the pressure to log in each day to do my daily challenges to keep the streak going. I feel like I'm free or something.

Liberating, isn't it?  I haven't been logging in a whole lot.  This past week I logged in once over the weekend just long enough to do one of the new missions to earn the reward for the 5000 club xp.  Watch me not get the reward delivered....I need it to finish the pass for the third time

Got enough of collectibles/samples to burn trough the next outlaw pass. And now I´m just doing dailies for the 0.25 but after that I´m thinking just to log in do 1 or 2 easy dailies until the multiplier is back in 0.2 gold!

Since OP5 has completed development months ago, it gives me hopes the next update will be larger than the Bounty Hunter expansion because they would be able to allocate more resources to the update itself instead of the OP. Unless they are just working ahead and OP6 is going to be inserted in the game files with this update.

up to possibly 100 ranks? 1200 xp each rank, you'll need 120.000 xp? 1500 xp for each set sold...so, about 80 sets?! bad at math, really, but that should be about right...
