R* had no other game than GTA to focus on at the time. You can't assume RDO will be treated the same since they now have 2 games to work on. RDO is not the same type of game and will never have the number of players GTA has based on the type of game it is. Their focus will always be on GTA.

Not really. 2019 was really good for Red Dead Online and yet GTA Online also got amazing updates. Surely they have the resources and capabilities to work on both equally without leaving one behind.

Not necessarily. It could just as well be cut content. In the files of the Cayo Perico Heist there's a new arcade machine based on Manhunt, but the actual game isn't there. It happens, developers often leave leftovers of content that they coulnd't implement into the game for a variety of reasons. Surely there's this possibility, but it's not certain or even likely just because of a couple of cut liveries.

In 2019 they still cared because RDO was new and they believed it was going to be the bonanza that GTA is. They know now that it won't regardless of what they do with it. 2020 is more indicative of how things will be. Chase off long time players and make zero effort to bring them back, ignore player requests and ignore all the things they claimed they were going to do, etc. It's not just the content issue but the way they treat the players. The second one is the thing that irritates me more than anything.

Rockstar doesn't really care about us Vet players tbh. They know we already amassed tons of gold and cash due to the slow release of content and that they can't milk most of us. So that's why I think they decided to release RDO standalone and majorly nerf gold. Rockstar's focus is on this new group of players who are more likely to buy gold. Us long time players, We're more ghosts than people.

Seriously, where do you guys get this info from? Bikers, of all updates? Definitely not. There were at least three big and fan-favorite updates before that

Bikers gave players more incentive to play to get more expensive toys basically giving players an endgame goal. We already had properties but basically needed only one to access the heists. Bikers gave us 5 businesses to run. Basically it was the blueprint of the model that made GTAO what it is today, giving players incentive to earn and spend cash. Heists was popular but player numbers steadily kept up growing only after 2016-'17. You can check out SteamDB for the graph.

RDO just needs more content like Heists, Businesses first and an incentive to spend gold. I don't like most of the cosmetics Rockstar adds to the game and also don't pimp my guns too much to keep a rugged look. I have 370 gold in RDO now basically no way to spend it my liking. It just needs to give an endgoal, like GTAs cars, bikes, aircrafts which is harder to do in western setting admittedly.

IIRC you'd find most articles regarding how GTA's MTX revenue and playerbase increased were reported in 2017-'18

yes and no.

parts of it are left, like the script itself, and the enemy and level sprites.

just the sounds are gone and such, and the arcade maschine itself is unfinished.

but i am sure it will come with the next update

This has probably been picked up before due to the Menu already being in the game but greyed out, but Trader Liveries are definitely coming soon and are already in the game, so those assuming what the same as I am that Outlaw Pass 5 will be coming with a small Trader Role expansion (it may be mostly cosmetic), since I've been getting this red wagon with gold wheels and gold engravings every time I make a second local delivery when it's needed for a Daily Challenge, it's possible this one may be a free one at least for Amazon Prime Gaming holders, due to being the game giving it to me every now and then.

The trader role has become kind of stale lately.

The bounty hunter update made the role more interesting and I hope for same changes to trader.

Turn in XP for gold. More variety in supply missions. More variety in sell missions. More upgrades for the delivery wagon, make it faster, more protection, customization. A more agile hunting wagon.

Dynamic events that reward materials or goods or even serve as a supply mission to make things more seamless. Similar to random bootlegger missions from moonshiner.

A new free roam event, so far there is only trade route, maybe protecting a column of wagons with other players.

I am a veteran player and wouldn´t mind buy some gold from time to time if they gave me some incentive to do like weekly bugfixes and actual content.....

I love this game but its so f*cking shallow and tedious.

I find myself wanting to dive in on a daily basis but when I do I am done after ten minutes. Either I hit some form of bug or glitch like Bounty missions not loading or I start a mission and realise I have to go halfway across the map, a f*cking timer runs out and I get nothing etc.

There is nothing for me to work towards, no end game.

I'd suggest taking a break. Even with these new telegrams I have absolutely no desire to log in because there's nothing to do. I did one of those missions and wasn't impressed in the slightest.

I'm saving the telegram missions to play so I can level up the next Outlaw Pass.

Jesus, another expansion to existing role... So in the next update in August we'll get another boring extension that gives us only sh*tty clothes and new wagon colour? I don't want to earn money in the same way with  clothes I'll never use, I just want new role, train robberies, boats and mansions. Even if this lasted 2 years, I would more excited than when we're getting that kind of "exciting content".

This. Playing the game after a break of a month or two is so refreshing. Gives me back the motivation to play, make money etc.

You're right about that, but what about the new players then? The way they've done things with the latest update has f*cked things up even more for the economy. Now there's the old players with tons of gold and nothing to spend it on, and the new players have basically no way of getting that same amount without feeling obligated to buy microtransactions. So do you create new things to buy with gold like mansions, and leave the new players with a bad taste in their mouth? Or do you leave gold prices as they are, and so old players will basically be omnipotent with no incentives to make more gold?

As having more gold than I will ever need, I must say the later! When things starts to cost above 8 goldbars for clothing and other cosmetics I think it is to expensive. I don´t know how long you have played but there is limited bandoleers that cost 18 goldbars apiece! Not having the right body type for that it is just not worth it!

I find it easier to buy stuff for gold when the cost is for it is ranged from 1 to 5 goldbars. But 2 gb are perfect price for alot of cloth!

I think something like this:

Hats, gloves, suspenders and other small stuff 1-2 GB

Shoes and boots from 2-3 GB

Pants, shirts, skirts and vest 3-5 GB

And finally coats and jackets 4-5 GB

Bruh. If they are continuing the pattern of only 2 updates per year, and one of them is another expansion with 3 weeks of drip feed content.. 😌

Not gonna lie. I had a weird yet fun experience of just standing over a hill in the Heartlands, west of Emerald Ranch, spotting low-res models of other players via binoculars from a distance. I spotted a posse heading towards Emerald Ranch and observed them for a few mins before departing. It was interesting and had this weird sensation of being relieved from grinding, simply watching a bunch of players moving around from one place towards another and sometimes lingering around seemingly waiting for their posse leader to start a mission or something, while they were all unaware of me. I guess after all the intense grinding, you start to appreciate these kinds of moments of just messing around.

I guess what could be taken from this as a form of feedback, is that interaction with players could get much more interesting if it was something like having the ability to sell moonshine to other players in a similar fashion to "Player Bounties" or anything of the kind of messing around.

I wonder how many ounces are in a gold bar. During the time this game takes place gold was around $20 per ounce.

Let's just play around and say in the game a gold bar is 1 ounce, or around the weight of a slice of bread.

Year 1900.

Hats, gloves and suspenders, 1 GB. In today's prices that would be around $600.

Shoes and boots, 2 gold bars = $1200 today.

Pants, shirts and vest, 3 GB = $1,800

Coats and jackets, 4 GB - $2,400

Of course, gold bars weigh more than 1 ounce so the price of things using gold in this game is absurd, especially when compared to the payouts you get for doing anything.

This is why I don't use gold for anything in the game. The value of the junk they are selling for gold isn't there (I have to admit I am a penny pincher IRL). Give us something of value, like ranches or mansions that can actually be used for more than a cooking place and I'll spend some gold. I'm not spending ridiculous amounts of gold for things like being an animal for 5 minutes or clothing, weapons, etc. I  don't think clothes or gunbelts or things like that should require gold anyway.

R* is actually using today's prices for things we can buy while paying out money that would be equivalent to 1900 or so, except looting. I'm pretty sure most people carried around more than 7 cents back then.

Horses back then, average price was around $75, $2300 in today's prices. What does the cheapest horse in RDO cost? I know someone will say "free"...😄

If they would actually put things out there that people want to buy there wouldn't be so many "rich" people in the game. Putting out the same clothes, horses, really atrocious looking "special" weapons that no one except the owner ever sees, and whatever where the only difference is the color is not what most people are interested in spending money on.

The monetary system in the game is broken....

IF they would have kept it with some degree with realism it should have been nuggets instead of full bars.

And for your info I think it is:

Gold bars made with gold bullion are by definition made with .999 fine gold.

Gold bar weight gets most often measured in troy ounces or sometimes smaller gram denominations.

One troy ounce in gold bar weight is equivalent to 31.1034768 grams.

One kilogram of gold bar weight contains 32.1507 troy ounces.

Yup. In America, when they advertise gold to buy, they just say ounces. Not sure if they are just leaving off the "troy" part or actually using avoirdupois ounces. I've never called to see what they're talking about.

In the game they call them gold bars but we don't know the size of the bar so I was just making up some weight for it and purposely used a light weight which isn't close to being what a bar would weigh. If we used the weight of an average, real life bar, the prices for things using gold in this game, for the time period, would be beyond suspension of disbelief.

you say that as if it matters in this FICTIONAL UNIVERSE

a gold bar in SP gets you $500

a gold bar in multiplayer is an increment of $25, and they round up so $26 costs you 2 gold bars

you literally need no other information than this because IT IS NOT REAL LIFE

it's not even about being any kind of realistic, it's about being balanced, and gameplay ALWAYS trumps realism
