RDO Next Updates Speculation & General Chat (Part I)

We can say whatever we want about R* but RDR2 and RDO standalone combined have nearly 50,000 concurrent players on steam at the moment. Their plan clearly worked (I HAVE A PLAN!!!). Let's just hope there isn't another major drought between updates so they can retain all of these new players. I bet there is a lot more people playing on consoles as well.

I just cannot see any other reason why its being held back especially during a Bounty Hunters update. Immediately dropping a modern looking handgun on the people that get the game for Christmas is a good move.

Held back for a more fancy oriented update, if there is one eventually with this edgy trend...of course, they prefer to recycle instead of giving it sooner for players enjoy and programm a new pistol in its place that could fit the theme too like the bergman.

Outlaw pass 5 for Christmas?

OP vouchers are good until May 31.

So July/August maybe? Possibly even September.

Yeah, creating a character right now demands grinding as f*ck or microtransaction, thats the strategy and will certainly produce money, at least for a few months.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there times where there was over 100k players per day on steam?

Maybe I'm not remembering the numbers right, but could have sworn people were boasting those figures not too long ago is all. My bad if I did misread/lost track though. :)

Considering all time peak of RDR2 on steam is 55k, no.

Well, judging by past experience we won't see another pass until well after they expire.

I do expect to see something new for Christmas, but not another pass. This one runs until what, February?

We'll definitely not see a new one before this one runs it's course.

My bad. Dunno where I got 100k from, lol. Oops. Cheers for clarifying though. :)

55k When it first came out on pc, pretty sure that is because everyone at the time was playing story mode for the first time.

Na, that was my bad, lol.

Although that link does say 27k rather than the 50k you mentioned. 😉🤠

Most of people I know bought the game first day on R* launcher!  (and also some people bought it from Epic!)

Maybe one day they will add heist and we are gonna see new peak!

Yeah, the poster above said 55k is the all time peak too, but you were saying it's 50k at the moment in your initial post above and we're at about half that in your link provided. The numbers don't add up is all.

Considering it's the first weekend of this DLC, I'm not so sure it's a good thing to have near half the playerbase not popping back on since it's peak. 🤔

Yeah, something big would surely help see that happen. :)

True.

A friend started playing RDO for the first time this Friday.

He played GTAO casually before.

We are on Xbox in party chat all the time, basically explaining everything as a veteran player.

He really enjoys RDO, there is a lot to do for him, a lot of stuff to grind for and still tons of things to level up. Really RDO is like a western theme park when you are starting now. Playing with him made me appreciate RDO more, since he offers a newbie perspective on things. There is a lot of variety in our gameplay loop.

He says this game is less grindy than GTAO, more beginner friendly and also much easier to play all the content with friends, playing missions etc is also more seamless. Made me appreciate the posse system and R* focusing on free roam.

All in all RDO is in a relatively good position now. It sucks that 2020 received so little updates and the daily challenge nerf. But other than that if we should actually get a smaller expansion in March and a bigger update hopefully in June, things might not look as bad.

This is the actual app for RDO standalone, in case you're wondering.

18k players right now.

Yea when I said we were near 50k I was adding RDR2 app and RDO app, thanks everyone though 👍🏼

But aren't those on your link included in Fun's too?

Anyway, it's all pointless and my bad for nitpicking it. All that counts for R* are those buying the standalone and gold. The rest is fluff. 🤠

Red Dead Online is getting more and more popular. I hope it's good sign for R* and we'll get something cool in near future.

Sure! Next update in 3 month adds some useless outlaw pass items Plus expansion for collector role where you can collect some more items and enjoy!!! lol!

Seriously they need to buy more studios one for making contents for RDO and one for GTAO ...Dundee should work on remaking old games...and rest of them should work on new games!

WOULD BE good move indeed, can't see it happening though. not in light of what R* did with the streaks and payout. sadly...

For Trading in 10,000 Bounty Hunter XP after getting to Rank 30 you get a pay-out of 0.5 Gold nuggets, $100 an 500 XP.

I mean to get new players into the game. A free gun that makes all other handguns obsolete.

It’s not terrible but I realized after you reach level 30 you earn a lot less xp for missions. Like more than half.

The double xp doesn't apply anymore. For some reason.

To the 10k xp award I mean.

They can let 1000 bugs plague the game... but when its about their precious microtransactions they are 100% effective.

I completed all the Bounty infamous missions, pretty good actually. Lots of missions to complete with some badass objective locations and cutscenes - one of the missions were taking place at the Mayor's mansion in Saint Denis. Not totally sure why they didn't advertise it as much, its the best part of the update imo.

this was the "action-packed" part of the update that interview mentioned.

they should've led with these missions, most people (myself included) thought they'd be new variants of current bounty missions with sh*t pay, but nah these are good.

I haven’t completed them all but my favourite so far is having to defend tumbleweed from a ton of people, super fun!
