Assassination missions are the ones that gives you the most adrenaline in this game, it was a brilliant idea standing the point for fun in a Old West game and I clap the one who came with it. Always with FUN in mind, so exclude toxic ppl because their are the ones who gives PvP bad reputation, but then again, this is the internet, and toxicity exists everywhere alongside games.

Targeted when i was hanging out at Rhodes with friend,he told me to run as far as you can ill hold them. Its not like i was afraid but more to trolled them,so i galloped my horse from Rhodes to Annesburg following the train tracks. Lol

This is going to be an extremely unpopular comment but I would like to defend the Naturalist update and why I really liked it.

First of all I think the Naturalist ROLE was a massive role but not the update if that makes sense. I also do not agree that it was enough after a 7 month drought and terrible lack of communication but I also understand the situation the team was in, better communication could have fixed all that though.

Now as to why I like the update, It fixed animal spawns which is a huge deal, personally I don't like the system of sedating animals and all that, I could not care less about it but there are many other things I enjoy about the update. The legendary animal missions are really cool, and as someone who loves trader this update made my trader life much much easier which makes me happy. I personally think the garment sets are cool even though I understand they could have done much more with them, the trinkets were a huge disappointment, but I like this update because it got incorporated into my gameplay loop and I never thought it would. And yes I think the role itself is massive because it does have a ton of content even if most players aren't into the content, it doesn't change the fact there is a lot there.

I'm sorry, but liking an update just because it fixed a bug which should have been fixed well before the release of the Naturalist update is very poor reasoning to defend the update.

Personally I found the Naturalist update to be a good idea, but poorly executed.

Haha, yeah thats the most clever idea to steal the mission reward surviving it, I've only been targeted twice, the first one was a low lvl so I just stood at the place and gave him an easy fight to be fair, only used side arms, he killed me without too many effort. The second one was against a 200+, I had just passed by The Kid at Flatneck Station, not long I receive the message being targeted and could see the Player comming from The Kid, quickly checked him at player list, as soon as I saw his lvl I thought "If he wants me he will have to get me by racing", It was not too fair tho because I was with my black Arabian, so I went to St Denis on the train tracks too, my goal was to get to St Denis rooftops via the stairs in the alley near the post offices, before I get to St Denis his icon was not visible anymore, when I got there I made my way up the building and waited him, it was still 1;30 seconds left for the mission, he never appeared.

I wish these missions had more time, I know ppl get upset to be locked while the timer is on, but 5 min is not much if one decides to flee, since changing sessions get you out of it,  I don't think it wouldn't be a problem being 7 min at least.

Great thing I saved a lot of collections. Sold all of them now for the bonus cash.

That's how they trick you!

They want people to sell their Collections before the new Outlaw Pass drops so people cant use them to farm XP and jump levels.

Wasn't it too long time ago since OP3?

Pretty sure I manage to get a lot of sets again before new OP drops.

Another interview with Rockstar, but this time discussing the world in a broadly manner.

https://www.ausgamers.com/features/read/3632105

Quote

AusGamers: What’s the weirdest ‘role’ you’ve seen a community member take up before you guys created roles?

Katie Pica: It’s not a role specifically, but I think the group of players that decided to carry their stew from one side of the map to the other stood out to me.

Scott Butchard: Before we created the roles, the emergence of a fight club subculture was a very cool thing to me. It wasn’t so much weird as a surprise. It really showed that players were into that social vibe in a controlled way – and it’s something that we’d like to acknowledge in future.

Quote

AusGamers: What learnings have you taken from GTA Online you maybe didn’t expect to translate to Red Dead Online?

Scott Butchard: GTA Online and Red Dead Online are very different worlds – there aren’t too many specifics that have translated across, it’s more the lessons we have learned from GTA Online that we have applied to the process of developing Red Dead Online as it evolves. For example, there has definitely been a shift over the years in GTA Online to making content more accessible by allowing it to be played and completed solo or optionally with 1-4 players. We’ve carried that across to Red Dead Online, respecting players who work together in posses, but also allowing players to treat the online space more like a single-player game; becoming a lone wolf player who wants to traverse the world and occasionally work with others but on their own terms.

We have also been influenced by GTA Online’s role-playing communities and that desire to really embody a type of character as much as possible. With the Roles in Red Dead Online we wanted to give players more of that experience, and we hope that shows.

I guess we can look forward to more solo-friendly content and I assume the same can be applied to their approach to Bank Heists in the far future.

According to the people on here who watch these things something may be happening in the next two weeks as the Steam pages that track updates have been updated with the stuff that normally indicates an update instead of a patch. It could be an pdate for the new Consoles or an actual update,

We also have the interview with the German outlet that says the next Update is "very close" or something Ike that.

Selling camp with friends works too! 😁 Thats often how I rank up.... And I do a lot of dailies! Ten of them gives you 1 rank. Being above rank 100 game is fun again to rank up so I like to savour the time doing it!

It appears Rockstar have done more than one interview than I thought, and focused on the different cultural communities of the fanbase.

https://www.9lives.be/special/exclusief-interview-drie-rockstar-designers-over-‘red-dead-online’

The latest one states the interview was done during a RDO gaming session that Rockstar hosted at the end of August, it's an interesting detail to keep in mind. I wonder if it applies to all these the interviews.

I think this as well, they want all eyes on the GTA Update. The closer to Christmas the better as it means all the kids will have Christmas money to spend on Shark Cards for the new Update.

Just selling a full Trader wagon in general gives you an insane XP boost for the Outlaw Passes.

I should have recorded it, but last night was the first time I've seen a lawman (who was after me) spontaneously shoot it out with an aggro'd NPC in Van Horn.

So R* has changed at least some of the AI in one location--hopefully a good thing! Was a total surprise to me to hear a shootout going on without me or another player being involved. And this was not a random encounter or scripted event.

I'm just curious if others have seen similar AI changes as well?

I haven't used collections to unlock Outlaw Pass levels, prefer to take my time and draw out the content. I understand why people do it - to each his own.

Still remember the very first Outlaw Pass, it was like drinking from a fire hose. So much stuff ("you've unlocked xyz") popped up on my screen all the time, it was like a pinball machine.
Some of those popups were role unlocks, but still.... at a point I kept discovering stuff I'd unlocked a week or two prior.

Jeanropke has started to map out some specific collectables of collections which were 100% random, some weeks/months ago. I've started to complete some collections here and there.
Who knows if they'll randomize everything at a point, and complete collections will become more valuable. Not $-wise, but because it'll be harder to complete a set.

I got plenty of gold and $, don't have to sell anything at this point

If it's the Lawman role, I did consider they would have to release it first before introducing the Outlaw role, it kinda makes sense that way. Allows them to shape up the Outlaw role the way they like, and how the lawmen players could fit in said role, in addition to the standard content we receive, rob wagons, shops or destroy some stuff ..etc

I feel like it would make sense the other way around. Outlaws start causing major issues in the game, so then the lawman role comes to clean it up.

I wonder if they'll introduce a competing dynamic between two NPCs and us, like they did with Gus and Harriet.

One of them pulls us into the dishonorable, outlaw side.
The other into the honorable, lawman side.

And I wonder if we'll get any of the Single Player characters as a strong, featured "partner" of sorts, for one of the roles. Now or in the future.
I'd support that. Am thinking of Charles Smith for a brawler role (or one linking us to Native Americans), Josiah Trelawny for a smuggler role, Angleo Bronte, Leviticus Cornwall.... etc. etc.

The Lawman and Outlaw roles, if R* introduces them, will only drastically increase PvP and (potentially) griefing, to R*'s delight.

How many players consistently jump into those roles (and what ratio) will be interesting. But I personally do NOT want some player chasing me down because I killed a chicken in Lagras and got a wanted level. That will make me drop this game faster than anything else.

I hope R* at least tones down AI Lawmen from their over-powered terminator nature to something more plausible and realistic. One thing they absolutely need to stop is involving Lawmen when one player is just fighting another, without having killed any NPCs. It adds nothing but pure annoyance and frustration... and coming from devs that tout themselves as loving PvP, they can prove it by dropping the pure player vs. player wanted levels.

More interesting activity on SteamDB, depot 1174183 has been added to qabeta2, same pre-release scenario before the Naturalist update.

I read all the new interviews and I found 3 new things R* hasn't mentioned before. I know they also talked about a bunch of other interesting topics, but I don't want to rehash everything already said in previous interviews.

R* considers:

- Adding new ranks to existing roles

- A new role focused on fishing

- Adding Properties not tied to roles

I dont know, for me it make more sense and is more interesting to be a pinkerton... basically being hired for every security matters available... not only seeking clues and hunting for outlaws, but aiding lawmen against raids in towns, seeking for lost things, kidnaped people etc. It also has more sense for a foreigner to be hired in the private sector instead of the public... the same with the hability to buy a sort of commercial premises, it has more sense with pinkertons... otherwise your either a marshall or work with the marshall as a deputy, there is not the ocassion to buy anything there.

Could it be that they're doing all these interviews to hype up the new update, which is actually closer than we thought? Maybe it will come in November and leave December for GTA? Just some random thoughts

RDR2 is also on sale on Steam again. It is a smart strategy by R*. If someone buys the game now it takes an average of 2 weeks to finish single player and by the time they are done they might jump into online if they see there is a new update.
