Considering how tone-deaf R* is, I expect them releasing the update on December anyway, then act surprised when literally no one plays the update

If there is a December update, they will probably avoid Cyberpunk's launch week. There's not a complete 100% overlap in terms of players sure but it's a megaton launch and you want your bi-yearly (lol) update to make as big a splash as possible, not just with players but with the press and influencers and all that modern day video game jazz. Could see it release on the 1st of December as releasing it post Cyberpunk gets a bit hairy what with the holidays fast approaching shortly after, but I would be very surprised if they released it in the same week.

At least on Steam PoE has a lot more players than RDR2  PoE’s 30 day average is twice that of RDR2 and that’s with the game being in a valley between the current and the next league; when a new league comes out PoE easily has six times more players than RDR2 on Steam.

 

I know this doesn’t take into account people on R* launcher, Epic and consoles playing RDR2 but PoE is on a separate GGG launcher, Epic and consoles too and more importantly the game is massive in Russia and China which both have their own clients.
 

So all things considered there’s a decent chance that PoE is indeed having a larger player base than RDR2 at this point.

Not sure if you noticed, but qabeta2 has been updated along depot 1174185 aka DLC packs.

Last time this happened, we received the Naturalist update, and it usually happens two weeks prior to release. Therefore, this new strange update is most likely pointed towards next-gen consoles release, albeit I'm not quite sure why would PC receive such update if it's aimed towards next-gen consoles.

Either that or they have a PS5 and next Xbox update ready to go with the release of the new consoles. 4K textures and 60fps would be brilliant.

4K possible but it's conformed that the games will be running at 30FPS which is disappointing for a 5TH generation console and so for XBOX

That's because the Xbox One X version already runs Native 4K and the PS4 version is close with some dynamic resolution both at 30fps. That's just the backwards compatible versions which are just the PS5 and XboxOne versions running on the new hardware. R* could, like many companies, release a free patch that upgrades the games to run at Native 4K and 60fps n both consoles, they are more than powerful enough.

The PC version can already run at 4K and 60fps so the engine can handle it.

True but GTA is not the only game running at 30 FPS watch dogs too runs at 30FPS we know that both consoles are powerful enough to handle the 60 Frames but as you said companies are lazy to update their engine

R* gonna do what R* does I suppose. It's a missed opportunity if they don't but as we have seen with the second "enhanced" version of GTAO they might just wait some time to sell the 4K and 60fps version again.

Path of Exile is a F2P game at the end of the day and it's pretty popular too. I've never played it but hear good things about it. Also it's been around for 7 years.

RDO firstly is not F2P, also it's not Rockstar's top prioritised online game. It lives in GTAO's shadow. So it's not exactly surprising that Path of Exile is more popular than RDO.

Me, i have never ever discarded a horse (aside the free one from the first mission), i gave second and third thoughts before i bought any of them... thats why i was so mad for the lack of raise in stalls.

I could be entirely wrong. But if I recall the PC version also stores the graphic profile settings for all the console versions which can located in update.rpf\x64\data\ui\settings\system\systemsettings.ymt.

Which maybe could be updated with new profiles for the new Xbox and PlayStation. Just a little theory. Plus isn't every build shared?

Maybe it is a few more tweaks and additions than just 4k 60 fps and both next gen consoles and pc will receive it at the same time, or maybe they are gonna release a big update on 17 or 24? they might wait until 24 just because ps5 doesn't release worldwide until the 19th, they might be kicking next gen off with a bang!

Stop hyping me guys! This better be true. Update and free NextGen enhancement in November would be awesome, especially as someone who already preorderd a Series X. But this sounds too good to be true so I'd say we get a mediocre update in December and that's it lol

It’s most likely that since the PC version will still be supported once PS4/Xbox One support eventually stops so it’s more than likely just Rockstar wanting to keep the Next Gen and PC build numbers in line with each other other and most likely all the little improvements PC got over PS4 / Xbox One won’t need to be changed too much for next gen and could just basically be the same anyway is my line of thinking. Probably not much to read into heh!

Well I mean the Halloween pass ends around the release of next gen, plus I am 100% sure R* has known next gen launch dates for a while now so it is believable they would have an update ready. 

 

What I am curious about is what actual improvements are coming to GTAV for next gen. Let's say RDR2 gets 4k 60 fps (all that stuff) in two weeks, why is GTAV next gen not coming out until the second half of 2021? they clearly have something much bigger planned for that which is why GTAV next gen was announced and RDR2 might just be a day one patch improvement patch. IMO either single player DLC or some crazy ambitious online updates like we have never seen before.

And before the theories get out of control: What is the exact reason now why suddenly many people think we get a NextGen version in November? I mean I found that a RDO update in November was always likely and I also anticipated RDR2 NextGen this November as well, but I thought they would have announced it by now. The only reason they would just drop it or only give us a few days heads up if it's simply a free patch thag elevates the PS5 and Xbox Series to a high end PC version.
