For over 1 1/2 hours today I had 12 others continually in my session except for a brief lull of 5 others.

I saw no random events, LA spawns, or treasure maps, and no maps looted either.

Animal spawns were decent.

Even in solo sessions (let alone larger ones) there are still significant lag-related issues in game play.

 

R*'s network code is either trying to send and receive too much data, or it just sucks poor rat carcasses through a garden hose.

They need to stop worrying about lobby size and let people enjoy the game. All the time and effort they are putting into lobby size is a waste. Imagine if all that time had been spent on content.

It would be nice if they communicated even a few words when they change things that directly effect players.

 

I did see a lot of NPCs in Valentine today, more than usual, actually now that you mention it.

PvPCat speculates they are only trying this today so that tomorrow they'll have maximum players participating, likely the reason.

Their priorities are clearly nothing to do with player satisfaction, but stats reporting and monetization.

 

It's certainly right they should make money from their games, but not at the expense of customer satisfaction, which has been their MO for some time now.

Broken and glitched game functions that go without a fix for years still remain in both GTAO and RDO, as long as they don't directly impact monetization no one cares in the least.

I agree. But people keep supporting a company that doesn't give a rat's ass if the players actually enjoy the game. I'm no longer supporting them. 2 years of my life is enough.

 

I'm not sure if I agree with the "maximum number of players" argument though. 100 lobbies with 14 people, 140 lobbies with 10 people, 1400 lobbies with 1 person equals the same number of users. How many users will spend much time in the game if it isn't working right anyway?

This "fix" was most likely done from the server-side according to @alloc8or, so it can be tuned anytime. Plus, Rockstar have been collecting data for quite a while regarding this matter. They also were experimenting with it too.

If R* does bump the player counts at the expense of a living world with more events and NPC's I think I will stop playing. I have more than enough money and Gold to do the next three DLC's and I have no desire to go from A to B in a soulless and desolate wasteland.

Well, that's what they've done. Just a matter of for how long. I'm sure hacker/modder numbers will be going up again too. I'm done with them now so I'll have to read what you all say before I start playing again.

Thats a shame, I wanted to get my Gold to the next hundred point before the next Xbox arrives but I might just leave it. It was only vanity driving me.

I played for 2 1/2 hours earlier to test it out and had 1 enemy camp and 1 moonshiner camp. I went to all the revenuer road block locations and not one popped up plus when the lobby switched I lost my gold cores. I don't do LAs but I didn't see any of those pop up either and I was looking for them.

When I logged in with my alt this evening I was greeted with the message that Cripps packed up my camp. Lobby had about 12-14 players.

Before logging out I did a Harriet mission, then fast travelled and was clearly soft lobby changed as my shack and camp were flashing on minimap. Lobby size 14.

Nothing was spawning.

I play on PS4

 

Even before that, after the latest patch, even small lobbies of 4 didn't have anything spawning. About 7/10 lobbies were like that, rest worked. So it's back down to host connection or something? Before that patch in the small lobbies everything was spawning (random events, LAs).

Regarding session with increased players,while we have the hardy tonic daily i did the change appearance thing to skip the wait. When i backed out,its always empty session no one will join unless i invite someone. Could this be a method to get quick solo? I know by any chance that someone will join at any point but at least solo is better than 10+ players.

It has never lasted long before. A few minutes at the most.

It may work longer now, who knows.

So f*cked up that 2+ years in, we're still in the beta test though. 

 

(Not aimed at you of course, Tez/Fun. Just venting is all, really disappointed by the way things persist when R* themselves have told us they have a back up with lobby options already there).

How long did you have solo? They do have lobby merging turned back on.

Every year R* releases their major updates in December because students are off for holiday break and so are many work places. People also have extra money to spend from christmas gifts. I am curious if that will change this year since everyone is already working and attending school from home. I don't think anything will change, just thought I would put the thought out there.

I think just from a development perspective R* would want to release it as late as possible. So a Friday launch on December 11th is likely.

One good argument against this is that they don't want RDO and GTAO updates to overlap again like last year, so a November 27th release is possible as well.

Either way we should expect technical issues.

I actually think they loved the overlapping from last year and they will do the exact same this year. For players who only jump on when theres updates and dont have time to grind, if both updates come out in the same week they might be more enticed to spend real $$$ since they won't have as much time to play. R* loved how many people jumped on both games and how much money they spent last year. The only difference this year is there are a lot more things in gaming to take people's attention away like PS% & Xbox SX and Cyberpunk 2077 and Spiderman Miles Morales. Not sure what R* will do but it will be interesting. Personally I think they will do something extremely similar to last year. Also if the Halloween pass is a success I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Christmas pack. Also this is an extremely unpopular opinion but I would like a pass in GTAO, I actually am a huge fan of battle passes as long as you get your money back if you finish it and if you can buy it with in game currency.

Might be something to that.

For regular players (by that I mean those who keep playing regularly no matter what as long as the game actually loads...which has not always been a given) the pass idea is a no brainer, you have loads of time and complete it just by going about your usual way of playing.

For those who don't bother until there's new stuff to do, they may have to jam in a lot of play time or fork over real money.

 

Those of us who follow the former pattern are probably considered deadbeats by R*, much like how credit companies regard those who pay off their bill every month.

There seems to be more in the second category, but it's hard to say for sure.

As much as I am chomping at the bit for new "worthwhile" content, I just wished R* would at least give us a game plan of ideas they are intending to implement, just a little something to look forward too. As of right now they just give us obscure comments about what they plan on doing with the game. And those ideas do sound great, but from my point of view it is all talk with no substance. It's nothing for me to really get excited for when I have no idea when or if anything is really going to come of their boasting.

 

 

So the return of the populated lobby brought back the problems from before, not one legendary after a few hours of playing, no random encounters, etc. And of course, it's the first time I've been shot in the back of the head since the low lobbies began. I hope that this is just them testing things out, because I was highly enjoying the game up until this point.

It wont even happen but can we get the option to make the left eye blind, the eye that gets covered by the eye patches. It would just be an addition to the eye colour options.

Dead of the night is now available. Seems like a survival mode, but with PvP element?
