Personally, I'd rather just collect solo if they will have different posse collectibles but they are random as well. I'd rather waste my own time then the time of others.

I don't think there's much risk of the "posse collectables" not being able to be collected solo.

R* know, just as anyone who plays the game knows, that most players play solo, R* aren't going to lock the majority of their player base out of content.

It was PR talk, in my honest opinion.

Just a random thought, would the M1899 Pistol being added to Online change your handgun meta?

I love my S-AP's and I have spent alot of Gold and time getting them right but I do love that modern handgun look.

I love the Borchardt look too much to stop maining my pair of SAPs, but I do occasionally use other sidearms so I might play around with the M1899. I'd probably use it more than I do my Mausers.

Some of it depends on how they compare to the Navy revolvers and Mauser pistols (my top two favorites).

I'm pretty sure they'll replace one of those two, but I'll keep at least one pair of revolvers in my wheel (probably the LeMats), just so I can take advantage of free lootable ammo.

Has anyone ever looted pistol ammo from an NPC?

Great question, I don't think so.

I have looted pistol ammo recently with my newer character, can't remember if it was from NPC or a lock box....I don't own pistols so once it fills up that's it.

If I get one I'd rather have a more modern outfit to go with it. Some of the available clothing will work, newsboy hats etc, but that pistol really needs a shoulder holster. It would look out of place with Old West duds IMO.

Yeah, there is some (limited) pistol ammo in the back of certain wagons, and some boxes of pistol ammo in a few locations around the map.

I suspect R* will add some/more(?) lootable pistol ammo from NPCs after they release the M1899.

Switching subjects, had one of those fairly rare lighting strikes near me a few days ago; wish I was recording the video, but did grab a late screenshot of the fallout:

Lol, all my outfits are set with different weapons considering the themes, so ill end using all of them, that will not change.

If they expand collector, I think they'd probably add something like "legendary" collectibles; missions that you have to visit someone to launch, that involve raiding a tomb, or killing a group of rival treasure hunters. These missions might be somewhat randomized like Bounty Hunter stuff, maybe with three difficulty levels?

I'd love a spitball shooter. I used to have a lot of fun with those as a kid. 😄

Stop talking about more collectibles. I'm OCD about those things. Last thing I need is more. 😂

That is helpful though I mean like when you go up to Harriet & you have 3 sighting missions available with a 48 minute countdown before they change. I’m looking for something that can predict what the next three available will be.

I'll use the 1899 a lot, the High Power Pistol is my favorite weapon in RDR 1 so that'll do until they actually feel like advancing the timeline along

Off topic from what y'all are talking about but they should just take out the other knives they added in & add different blade types & handles since it switches to the hunting knife anytime you skin something anyways. Plus it would reduce wheel clutter.

Yeah which is lame. You should be able to select and mantain the knife you bought in your pocket beside your handgun, as with any other weapon and thus be it the one used for skinning. Sort of the same should happen with the machetes, axes etc. It is lame and lazy as f*ck that they cant remain onf sigh outside actual combat, it breaks the basic inmersion any game should have.

I am disappointed.

R* had a chance for some tongue in cheek humour with this week's Legendary Animal. They could have made its torso ginger and called it the Legendary Honey Seeker Bear or if they actually still had the balls they used to, call it the Legendary Chinese Honey Bear.

They can keep the current state of randomization for the solo collector, and add a new portion of posse gameplay on top of it. New collectible locations with custom loot tables reserved for posses. You don't have to look for the same set of collectibles we currently have, we could see new collectibles meant for posses added.

So upgrading the collector role by just adding more collectables but for a posse? Does anyone with any sense of imagination still work on rdr2?

Nah, we have seen they lack creativity... a competent company or at least one with a sense of pride aside  money, would fire half the team or just listen to the best ideas the fans sended... here there have been a few that deserve such a treatment.

Last night was the first time I've seen a grave robbery encounter in broad daylight (Rhodes); I had thought these only happened at night:

Like the collector role has no meat to it at all. It’s literally just random objects randomly placed around the map. There’s no missions for it, no back story for it, it’s an empty shell and people pay gold for it. If the role didn’t provide good money and clouds people’s judgment then it would be a dead role

technically, absolutely.

but there is some kind of magic, which makes hidden items interesting. never changed since the start of gaming...

I even see a whole different experience, while

a.) playing the collector role with the interactive map open (magic gone) and

b.) just discovering some items by your own (magic still there)

Red Dead Online has nearly been out for 2 years now and we still can’t;

• Rob trains

• Rob Banks

• Rob Shops

• Rob Npcs

• Find Stolen Hats

• Play Dominoes

• Play 5 Finger Fillet

• Rent a room

• Have a Satchel

• Passenger Trains

• Camera/director mode

• Customise our camps like in SP

• ‘Found Hats’

• A real trapper like in SP

• Fixed Lobbies

• Real clothing customisation and not ‘skins’ or re skins of old items

• Order a meal at a bar,

• Steal horses and sell them

• Break Horses and sell/keep them

• A honour system that actually means something

• Open vests

• Closed jackets

• Actual Native American themed clothing and items

oh no but we can change into a bloody wabbit or spend $1000 on a jacket which is a copy and paste of about another 30 odd jackets

Yeah people throw a podcast on with the game on mute while looking at a map on their phone to find someone’s comb in a drawer. I’m sorry but that’s not playing the game.

The items should have been in the game like in SP and they would be a nice surprise to find which would reward good money but in no way should a whole role of been built around it .

Please no, I can't take it anymore. Also the sample part of the new update is already a collector expansion, I think Rockstar can forget a while about collecting.

@fryday

I completed a Family Heirloom set, after looting a saddlebag. Oddly enough, it felt rewarding. I hate, that it did... but it did.

@Ring Dang Do

You are correct, the collector role was meatless.

At the very least, gold collectables should of been, gold redeemable.

You make it sound as if I've implied some kind of rumor or an indirect hint. I'm just suggesting one of many other possible approaches to sort out a proper gameplay approach.

The Naturalist role was the one opportunity they had to do something amazing with legendary animals.

The sheer number of them we've had and their variants.. can you imagine the amount of amazing outfits we could be making?

Nope, just stick the animal's head on the same coat, to hell with proportion size.

Honestly, f*cking pathetic.

I miss ordering food at a saloon or renting a room or bath. When you first join online, you meet those horse fences if I remember right, and they mention they'll have their "business" up and running at some point. Been over 2 years since the game released and still no horse selling. We can't even sell horses we've bought when we want to get rid of them.

Just to single out two of your many good points, it's really disappointing that the train circling the map isn't a passenger train we can either rob or hop a legit ride on (or just ride on the roof like the freight train).
