If it keeps going as it has we have one more Role update to Bounty Hunter. Trader to Moonshiner, Collector to Naturalist and Bounty Hunter to presumably something like Marshall or Lawman. Then all promises from R* are fulfilled (Not sure if they said anything about Properties/Homes).

They did the same with GTAO and Heists, fulfilled that promise and then soon after dropped support for 360 and PS3. I could see them doing the same thing even though RDO2 is playable on he next Xbox it can detect what console you are playing on. It would not surprise me if future updates are locked to the next Xbox's and PS5 with split servers.

As far as I know the Naturalist is not an expansion to the Collector and is its own branch. 

 

In an interview back in 2019 R* categorized the role branches in capitalism (trader >> moonshine), law activities (bounty hunter >>?), exploration (collector >>?), wildlife (Naturalist) and outlaw activities (?). 

As they have said themselves, they are still in the formative stages of delivering an array of roles. 

 

This holiday we will get extentions and augmentation to an existing role, unlike the Naturalist which was standalone, more similar to moonshine that was an extension of the trader. So a bounty hunter extension is highly likely at this point, evolving the off-shoot of the law aspect of online.

 

 

Regarding crossplay: As long as R* doesn't announce a separate expanded & enhanced PS5, Xbox Series X|S version of the game, you will play the same game on your new consoles via backwards compatibility. No split servers and no exclusive updates. This makes no sense. Please stop this narrative. It's the same PS4, Xbox One game running on new hardware and it will work for everyone and you still play with everyone. Think of it more like a PC ecosystem. If you buy a new PC and log in to your steam account you can download all your games and play them with everyone. This is how consoles evolve as well with backwards compatibility.

It's an expansion on the concept. Collecting and getting paid for returning what has been collected to a certain person same as Moonshiner is an expansion on the "go to place, give ingredients, wait until complete and then sell" Trader concept.

These systems know what Console is being played, R* could easily tag the Updates to only download to the next Xbox and PS5 as well as simply make it so that the next Xbox and PS5 can only do P2P with the same Consoles thereby splitting the "servers".

 

I am sorry but the parts in the PS4 and One are old and decrepit, even the Xbox OneX is running off a laptop CPU that's over half a decade old. If you truly want to see this game evolve you need to let the old Consoles go. I agree, its  sh*tty move to make it BC and then wall off the Updates but the old Consoles are holding it back significantly.

The fastest way to make gold are the daily challenges and keeping a streak going.

The best role to get really depends on what you like to do, but bounty hunter is the only one that directly pays gold, as well as offering daily challenges.

It can be more time consuming than some of the others, but again you should really choose whichever you would enjoy most, it will take a while to rank any role up.

The bounty hunter perk 'eagle eye plus' is a very strong incentive to get that done, though.

It really changes how you can play the game, it's super useful. The rest of the roles...not as much.

You still believe what that tool says? The last DLC was said to be massive and all we got was a tweak to the story mode compendium, lol.

 

One could say the fixes made it massive, but that's not gonna hold any water seeing as they did something to mess with high ranks which has only just been addressed, and the lobbies clearly can't hold a full player count while all events/activities work.

RDR2 player count keeps going up on steam. Today it is at 29k (more than the day naturalist came out) I am curious why more people are jumping on right now. Especially with GTAV numbers going down.

No it isn't. 

 

Trader rank 5 or 1 delivery is required for moonshiner. 

 

Naturalist is a standalone role, it requires no other role and can even be your first role.

Not confirmed. Their exact wording: "Later this year players can expect more big updates for both games, including some exciting new extensions and augmentations to an existing role in Red Dead Online". 

In theory there is room for 2 roles revolving around the law/outlaw dynamic intertwined with each other, extending the bounty hunter.

 

It also could simply be an update focusing on the collector.

 

I see those 2 options as the only realistic possibility, with the potential that we only get 1 bounty hunter extension and not 2.

Getting in the mood with some themed content a week or so before feels ok, but there's nothing more sad than having Halloween stuff linger for too long afterwards.

 

20th Oct - 3rd Nov feels about right. Gives players plenty of time to rank up the 20 Halloween Pass ranks and enjoy the content without having the Halloween event encroach on the run up to Thanksgiving.

It's like trying to put away the halloween decorations on Thanksgiving day. 

 

Why they would release the pass a few days before halloween and allow it to stick around after the holiday is over seems odd to me? I mean, my decorations go up a month before the holiday and come down... okay I won't use myself as an example because I tend to be lazy transitioning between holidays. But you know what I mean??

I did enjoy the snow last Xmas. The only problem with it though was temps in the bayou were still in the 70s and 80s on most days while snow was falling. lol

 

But the snow made everything look so cool and things felt peaceful.

I enjoyed that too. Especially when it would really snow with the wind howling and all, that was just beautiful to see in the area of Emerald Ranch.

It was during the spell where the game had major issues with crashing/disconnecting and Buddy Hightower would persist in saying the game worked perfectly and he wanted R* to leave it as it was at the time. But once asked to upload a video of uninterrupted gameplay, he suddenly had a busy conference call IRL and promptly disappeared for a good while.

I'm sure the arrows and throwing knives are for a showdown mode, they'd make absolutely no sense in free roam.

 

Zombies will likely come in a separate game mode too, but if it's a survival, I'll be happy

 

I don't think we'll get the M1899 until the December update at the earliest. It having an Online catalogue page means it's almost definitely coming, but no price in the files, as yet, means it's probably not coming SOON™.
