What would you say is a fair amount of Gold and money to be happy with? What would you stop the grind at?

Fifty thousand dollars and two hundred Gold would set a player up for a long time?

I'm on 570 gold and about 27k (no grinding though, eww. Lol).

I'm far richer than I ever imagined I'd be with that and know I can, and do, take good long breaks and be very ready for most anything R* drop on us. I'm only on a 29 daily streak currently for example and that's only due to these small lobbies, lol. (So it'll end soon enough when R* re-butcher the game 'soon')

Roles for example, or other buy in fees here or in GTA are always within gold/card range for the casuals and new players they're aimed at, so I'm good for any thing new added to get going. Maybe they'll add the odd luxury item that costs a small fortune, but again, well set for all but the worst of all that.

A few collectors items or dailies will soon make up what I spend on these entry fees, and the passes so far have each teturned any gold I spent fairly comfortably too.

Guess you never read the receipt you were given after you purchased the game?

RDO is a free game.  That is the legal reality.

I always enjoy this argument.

Until someone shows us how to play RDRO/GTA:O without needing to make a purchase, I'm not buying it, lol.

And of course, at least regarding GTA:O, when next year that comes as a standalone game, aside a small promotion on one platform, this argument will finally be resolved as folk will have to buy it to play on. Potentially the same for RDRO, but who knows what R* are cooking up to squeeze more money from their 'undermonitised' playerbase. 🤣

If you enjoy making an invalid argument, more power to you, my friend.  That’s what the internet is for.

RDO is a free product.  It’s an argument that has been tested in Courts around the world in relation to identical giveaways.  It’s settled law.

The fact that one day in the future these games might be available for purchase on their own is irrelevant to the current state of affairs.  Rockstar has never sold a single copy of RDO for money.  They have given it away free as a seperate product when they sold RDR2.  Those were the terms of sale. They issued invoices accordingly and their accounts only record money being received for RDR2.  They have never paid tax on the money they have made from selling copies of RDO because they have never sold a single copy.  Same goes for GTAO.

One day Rockstar/Take2 might decide to sell either game as a stand-alone.  And then, on that great day, anyone who buys that game will be well within their legal and moral rights to come back here and cry their eyes out about how they haven’t got their money’s worth.  Because they actually did pay for it.  But that won’t change anything for the rest of us who received it free when we purchased RDR2.

You may have read it already, but can advise a few things, though don't read on if you're enjoying the exploring and learning your own way.

Daily streaks, once passed 21 days the gold soares IMHO. Half a bar to pick 5 herbs or cook up some grub, all smiles here. Rare I do all dailies though, none of the PvP or posse ones at least.

Buy a collectors bag first and a metal detector once you can too, though you don't need it for all collectibles. Easiest money in the game and I've only sold 1 full collection, lol. I just sell when I pass the madam rather than do any full collecting or specific routes. You'll soon learn of any more regular locations you pass on your more common areas to play in too. Plus there is a map online that shows all of these things, but I personally prefer not to use it. (Not that I'm against it of course - It's great when gamers share info like that).

Minimise what luxuries you buy to start, once the money/gold builds, you'll soon be enjoying the catalog. And live off the land as much as possible. Always loot houses/NPC's for ammo and other little bits like tonics, maps, jewelry etc. I really love this aspect of RDRO.

Fishing can pay well too if you enjoy it. Filling up on loads of small/medium fish that go in the satchel can add up to good pocket change. Hunting in the swamp area with the birds like herons and egrets etc too, those feathers can soon add up (I tend to ignore it when it says I've got max amount of flight feathers though as those are only 15c each and so quick to fill up on those). Once I've got loads of those I nab up a 3 star alligator to sell with it all too. Can score a good couple hundred bucks just from casually plodding about there with a pleasent fish/hunt. :)

@Gray-Hand. We disagree to an extent, but alas, no point treading that old ground on here, lol. It's an age old argument and to be fair, just one I find funny more than anything.

Though I've had enough to B&M about regarding both R*'s online games, I certainly have no regrets with how much I spent on them. Both franchises have given me so much over the last 20 years so I'm golden. Just hope that continues as gaming moves with the times is all. :)

I don't do much bounty hunting to be sure of any impacts from it, sorry. Others may know more on that.

I believe honour is only important when you want to do the few low honour/high honour story missions for Mrs LeClerk. I find raising honour is much easier than lowering it so if you're near low honour at any time, then would be a good time to lower it to try those missions. Keep an eye out in the reward coupons for any free honour change ones there too as that can be a good time saver.

Other than for mission availability honor is almost meaningless, although it does eanble different comments from NPCs when interacting with them, which can be refreshing once you're used to hearing all the same guff over and over.

hey guys, to all the twitch prime members, you will need to re-link your account if you want to continue to get the bonuses for prime members.

looks like it´s now not twitch prime bonuses anymore, instead it´s amazon prime bonuses and you need to link the amazon prime account.

Outlaw Pass 3 ends on October 19th, so the Halloween pass probably comes either the 20th or a week later.

It's a free game you get with the game!" Yeah, it's part of the overall purchase. Until they start selling it separately it's literally a part of rdr, and as such is included in the overall cost of purchase. Claiming other people arguments are invalid due to your opinion on the matter is silly btw. I get what you're saying obviously but it just feels like you're argument semantics due to a court case or something.

It isn’t just semantics if a Court has ruled on it.  And Courts have done so all around the world. It’s law.  It doesn’t get any more real than that.

The cost of RDRO is not included in what you pay for when you buy RDR2.  Just like the cost of the little toy that you get free isn’t included in the cost of the McHappyMeal at McDonalds and why you don’t get a discount if they have run out of toys.  You are only paying for the food - the toy is free.

The way I look at it is this: I cannot platinum Red Dead 2 without playing Red Dead Online. Therefore, RDO is included alongside RDR2. You are paying for both. They are a part of each other. Your initial purchase bought both. Yin and Yang.

IMO - campfire ghost stories, random Strange Man encounters, some resuce missions involving the pagans and a visit to the witches cauldron in Ambarino. Would be a well rounded update.

There is enough content, established in the lore. For some reason, they don't want to embrace, fan favorites.

I want a paranormal Sherlock Holmes style mystery surrounding one of the abandoned locations. Like what happened to Pleasance? There is a ghost on the Bayou who has an entire story but nothing tangible to bring her story to fruition. Maybe we can meet a younger Seth, stealing from the dead? I wanna meet a shaman and possibly seek out spirits that wander the world, there are so many legends to go off of. The Wendigo, the Raven Mocker, Sasquatch? There are the legends in the swamps, the Nigh Folk, you can have that soothsayer from Story Mode appear.

How about a creepy mission involving looking for the lost little girl in that poster at Van Horn?

So much to work with, and such a lack of creativity.

Paranormal Investigator, like... Bounty Hunter, but for ghosts and creatures. That would be really cool. Too cool for Rockstar, probably.

To both of you it is super easy to lower the honour with bounty hunting and naturalist roll! Turn in dead bounties and there more you turn in at the time the greater effect. Sure you will lose some dollars but the gold will be the same! To lower it with naturalist roll just kill sedated animals!

I just came across a random encounter in Big Valley - a hunter NPC!

I walked with him, steathily through the woods, as he stopped occasionally, picked something up from the floor and remarked;

"Mmm.. smells like dinner"

"These droppings are fresh"

and before I knew it, he fired upon a nearby grizzly and shrieked when it ran after him haha.

I'm loving these low populated lobbies and the random encounters that are allowed to flourish because of them.

Anyone with a Norfolk Roadster as the main mount here? I would like your commentary on it, as well as a recommendation, especially if you got a Nacogdoches saddle on the thing.

norfolk-3.jpg

If it helps for a comparison, my main mount is a Turkoman, which I’ve always been satisfied with, and I still am.

I came from Turkoman to Norfolk Roadster, too and AFAIK the Norfolk Roadster is the "1 bar better version" of the Turkoman

Well, I should specify that I’m inquiring about the temperament, and if the less-than-stellar health is manageable. It’s not like I will casually bring it into combat situations like I do with my Turkoman, but still, the Nokota top-speed and Arabian acceleration is something I shouldn’t overlook.

with the unspeakable sattle, the norfolk has 10/10 speed and 9/10 acceleration, so its superfast

For my own two cents, I personally don't see me ever purchasing another horse for the rest of my time with Red Dead Online. My previous horses were the free Arabian from playing the Beta, and then the White Arabian (which I still have). The White Arabian now only ever gets used in the event of the Roadster's death or if its bugged and I need to reset the mount.

With the best stirrups and the Nacogdoches Saddle, the Roadster checks in with 10/10 speed and 9/10 acceleration on the stats - with "Standard" handling.  It scares easily like any other horse, but from my experience it takes quite a while for it to actually buck you off of it.

Doesn't have the best HP in the world (about three quarters of the bar), but I rarely fight on horseback so its not an issue for me. All its needed for is getting from A to B, and it does it fairly quickly.

There is some historical precedent for something like that. In the latter half of the 19th century, there was a big revival in spiritualism and the paranormal. Basically all modern interpretations of ghosts and mythical beings are based on 19th century representations of them.

Is the Norfolk less braindead, stroppy and less likely to buck at a frog than the Turkoman?

I'm on the hunt for a new mount.

I loved my Roadster, until the last update. Now all of my horses are scared of their own shadow, with the Roadster being one of the worst in my stable.

It basically went from "I never need to buy another horse" to "I can't go anywhere near a predator or get in a gunfight".

I take it out of the stable occasionally, because I miss riding it and because all my horses are varying degrees of sh*t now, so why not.

I really hope R* do something about horse temperament in the next update.
