They probably arent saying anything because that would make players stop playing if there is no character transfer ?

 

I mean the games kinda dying as it is so maybe news would be a bad thing for them, im sure as hell not starting over and im not buying an old game again if thats their plan.

There's one way to kill the game off for sure, alienate and p*ss off the most loyal members of their player base.

 

With no character transfer many long term players will stop playing in 2 months anyway, I definitely will, R* should just be open with the player base if that's really what is about to happen.

I am willing guess that it will only be straight Xbox One to Xbox SeriesX and PS4 to PS5. No cross-platform or to and from PC. They won't risk a repeat of people transferring Modded PC accounts.

I tried all afternoon yesterday, most of the evening, and sometime this morning....Couldn't get a pre-order

I'd say it's likely that we will be able to in the case of RDR2, I can't see RDR2 being outside of the "over 99%" of PS4 games (unless R*/T2 are absolute c*nts about it) that will work on PS5 through backwards compatibility.

 

RDO might be a different matter. PS4 players couldn't play GTAO with PS3 players, PS5 will require PS5 only lobbies, will they be available? If not immediately, when?

I'd agree with that. PC is on its own and I can't see there being cross platform character transfers.

It sold out in the UK within about 20 minutes of retailers making pre orders available. I got lucky, I managed to get one pre ordered, but it took me having 5 devices all trying to get various websites to work.

The outlaw pass’s tempered steel gun metal finish and burled wood for stocks/handles are things I’ve been desperate for since launch in 2018. Now all I need is damascus steel and polished nickel metals, along with ivory and chequering for stocks/handles and it’ll be perfect.

I agree, that's a good point which just makes me think that RDRII won't be playable on next gen until they release the enhanced versions.

Relax guys.

RDR2 will be backwards compatible on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

You will play the same game you are right now with your same character.

The only question is, if they enhance it for the new consoles with a seperate version, and when that is coming.

Character transfers are guaranteed.

The reason they didn't do it for PC was probably because they worried about technical issues or exploits. Or because of a deal with Sony and/or they wanted the current console players to transition to NextGen consoles.

Puff  that would be gorgeous, especially if they come with new weapons and variants alltogether, real classy variants. Maybe in next gen rdr2.

My issue is not with it being BC, it is how they are going to shaft Xbox users. PC wont need an "enhanced" version and Sony will buy exclusivity of some form or exclusive parts of the upgrade. Price is also a factor, will they give a free upgrade? Will they just port over the PC settings and be done with it? Have all platforms running the same version.

Price and not getting shafted is what I care about.

I’m not sure if anyone ever wondered this yet, but knowing Rockstar, I reckon they’re obviously going to either release a few more updates after the next gen “remaster” of RDR2 arrives, or they’re going to abandon current gen all-together and deliver an exclusive whole update packed with much-requested items and changes from the community.

 

I don’t think they’ll make RDO be a separate application like they’re planning with GTAO. I want to explain why, but I feel like it’s too obvious to most of you.

Fair concern, but R* hasn't announced anything, so this is just speculation.

 

Basing off GTAV NextGen you won't be shafted. It is coming to Xbox Series X/S the same day. The only difference is that the online component will be free on PS5 for 3 months, not the game. Doesn't matter to us since we will own the full game anyways.

 

The only question is price and when it is coming.

 

Honestly, my concern is when it is coming. I hope they planned RDR2 for the NextGen launch window all along, and that they only announced GTAV early to please investors since GTAO is still going strong. Kinda like calming down investors: "Hey investors, we know GTA brings in the most money and we have a new version of that in the second half of 2021, but we planned RDR2 NextGen way before so we will release that early 2021".

 

If it is coming after GTAV or not at all, that would concern me. Basically showing that they don't see a future for RDO.

But I think that they see a future for RDO.

I think they worked on RDR2 NextGen before they planned GTAV NextGen. I think it's coming before GTAV, early 2021 would make the most sense, given the packed holiday season and limited hardware supply.

Will probably be announced this October/November.

^^ Nice find! Hopefully this won't be 'mandatory' game play for all players, but rather something launched outside of normal free roam.

 

I'm personally looking forward to the zombies, but certainly not everyone is. Would love to see what the game is like with more dark areas, requiring use of our lantern, etc.

 

Glad I know of a number of excellent safe spots/hideouts throughout the map.

Graphic issues? I'm using 451.67, and honestly it's the best I've used so far (plus some of the recent graphical bug fixes from R*).

Graphic issues? I'm using 451.67, and honestly it's the best I've used so far (plus some of the recent graphical bug fixes from R*).

Well I've tried 456.38 and it seems to be working perfectly... not more black screen / desktop glitches... What would happen is every now and then the game would freeze, show a black screen, then my desktop, then back to the game... Once it starts it happens every 10-15 seconds...

I had to go back to 446.14 to get it resolved, any driver older than that would do as I've just explained.

I think it could be related to this issue which hasn't been fixed yet by NVIDIA:

Windows 10 Issues:
[SLI][G-SYNC][Red Dead Redemption 2 Vulkan]: With SLI + G-SYNC enabled, the games display corruption and a blank screen.[200645671]

I don't have a sli configuration anyway, but it could have been related to it or something, but the latest 456.38 driver seems to be working perfectly, so worth updating... If you want a clean version of the driver without most of the bloat etc let me know and I'll send you a link.

^^ Good to know--thanks! The only issue I've been having is the one where your character camera spins out of control... have to keep hitting 'Esc' to try and stop it.

 

I disabled sticky keys in Win7, so it shouldn't be anything related to that..?

PS5's are gone. Sony said they would let players know the pre order date, they did not. Pre orders were activated right after Showcase event. They suck!

From a pretty reliable source, I've heard that Sony announced the 17th as preorder day, yet Walmart started offering preorders immediately, and several others followed suit so as to not be left behind.

 

I'd think Sony would be pissed about this, not that Walmart gives a crap about anyone else, but Sony's a very big hitter, I'd expect some very nasty repercussions for the retailers who jumped the fence.

Yeah, online retailers here jumped the gun.

 

It was madness every online retailer in the country selling out within 20 minutes, just after midnight, when pre orders weren't meant to go live until 9am the following morning. To my knowledge only Amazon actually stuck to that time and they sold out in minutes too.

 

I was signed up to get notification from Sony too, never got that email, as soon as I saw that pre orders had gone live early I took matters into my own hands and snapped one up, I'm not queueing up in person on the 19th, it'll be chaos.

If you want to sell a manufacturer's products, you have to abide by their license agreement.

I've no doubt Sony are p*ssed, it was complete farce.

 

If I blame them for anything, it's not having a tighter leash on retailers, Microsoft seem to have everyone on board.

 

But, realistically, what could they do? Every major UK online retailer, with the exception of Amazon, just put the pre orders up almost in unison, Sony could pull all licenses, and Amazon obviously have the infrastructure to handle being the only official retailer, but the horse has already bolted now.

 

Made me wonder if the whole situation was "unofficially official", so to speak.

October 23 R* announces RDR2 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S November 24

 

They don't need months of marketing or over a year heads up. They want to sell RDR2 to early adopters to make it relevant again.

While supplies will be limited, millions of people will own a PS5 or Xbox Series this holiday, not many exciting, technically impressive games will be there immediately, so what better way than the last big R* game enhanced to make some big cash this fiscal year. Will help RDO playerbase as well.

 

October 2018 - PS4, Xbox One

November 2019 - PC

November 2020 - PS5, Xbox Series X|S
