Fisherman Role coming at some point maybe?
It'd be dope to actually be able to buy & use some of those big boats I see out going by Blackwater.

Would also open up some new means of interesting travel for some & griefing for others.

I would buy a boat in an instant. Row boats to the larger ones with engines. I don't know if we can even steal the massive ones we see.

Or how about the fun of farm hunting the same spots over & over for trader materials......

With a fishing role comes the element of having all sorts of sized boats potentially, which those alone could be used for more than just fishing.

Theres no need to have a fisherman role for us to buy boats really, Naturalist is already close to “useless“, a Hunter role or an extension of the trader would fit better, we need real action roles like Lawman, the only relaxing role it can come that I think ppl will enjoy is Rancher.

Fishing at least could expand on things, like being able to donate large fish to Cripps or for making special character accessories. Other things like gator trapping, boat delivery/sale routes, & other things certainly could be mixed in. So yeah, a fishing role could fill the gaps to add an extension to the Trader role to a good amount. Boats would play a huge role in the aspect of sales/goods transportation/delivery, thus giving more purpose to adding boats in general. "Vehicles" in this game have been added in pairing with roles, not out of random standalone features.

So as long as it's an "Action" kinda role it's ok that something similar to what we already have is introduced?
Well I didn't know everyone in the game liked the exact same things.

 

& you don't think a fishing role would be relaxing/enjoyable for anyone, really? Being able to just chill out on a small canoe or large personal steam boat, catch fish or trap gators, not having to worry about much interference from other players or npc randomness. At least you'd be able to see trouble coming from a mile away, vs some "Rancher" role where crap can jump out of the nearby woods at you. Moreover, the whole point would be to add some reasoning to give us watercraft, since as said already vehicles released have had a role reason.

I've been saying since Beta, I want some missions consisting of big, classic, even clichéd, Western set pieces.

 

I love the solo hunting, laid back vibe of RDO, but sometimes, for 5 or 10 minutes, I'd like to start up a mission and feel like my character is taking part in a scene from a classic old Western movie.

 

We don't have anything that quite feels that way yet. Some of the Land of Opportunities story missions are in the right ballpark, but not big or fleshed out enough.

If they add a fishing role, they would probably also add a boat or some kind of special fishing rod that costs 30 gold or something you to buy to start.

The goal for Red Dead Online is to offer a range of 19th century frontier experiences. From capitalism and exploration to wildlife and lawlessness.

 

There is room for all kind of roles. A fisherman role, a lawman role, an outlaw role, everything is possible and actually talked about by Rockstar and already in development in my opinion.

 

In November the Bounty Hunter gets an expansion and 2021 could be the year of the Collector and Outlaw. The Naturalist has also room for expansions like legendary fish and of course the trader could expand to the sea like mentioned before.

 

There is one controversial topic though. If R* really planned some kind of law or outlaw expansion for the Bounty Hunter this holiday, with everything going on in the US and probably planned to release Nov 27 a few weeks after the election, they might have changed their plans this June. Maybe they postponed that expansion to 2021 and instead plan to release the collector enhancements and augmentations, originally planned for Spring 2021. Just a theory though.

I doubt it just because naturalist was found in the files when monshiner came out, plus R* doesn't really care about fan feedback when it comes to update ideas. I just think the december update will be a really interesting one.

Well i am not very hyped with december, as it seems is a one role again and its pretty hard that such a content could last 3 months. Right now, we got an even worse treatment with a role that conflicts with other as the only real content for six months... that is lame, especially as no mater what, halloween doesnt count as real content, just sideline items and a new series.

I'm confident something to do with fish is coming soon, whether it's a fully fledged role or an addition to Harriet's shop I don't know.

 

all I know is

• trading has been a focus of Rockstar's
• there was the leaked voice files from Harriet talking about legendary fish
• it's the one piece of the beta that hasn't been touched upon since they nerfed the payouts - it's essentially become a useless part of the game outside of doing it for dailies and for fun
• that random fishing hat they put in the last outlaw pass felt blatantly out of place, I'm assuming it was put in as a clue

I'm thinking if they do release a fishing role I see the aforementioned additions to a previous role coming with it, but unrelated, probably a collector or bounty hunter rework.

It seems Rockstar new trend nclude only delivering content that is related to a whole thematic package...
