40% discount vouchers off Naturalist items (one for doing the Milk Coyote mission, another for getting a sample) are very welcome, as is the free shirt voucher login bonus (because that means another Molina Blouse for zero gold!). Another pretty decent week - in fact, between the event weeks and the current Outlaw Pass, it's a pretty good time for getting things on the cheap.

So next week's gonna be the Shadow Buck.

 

Then we'll probably go back to 2 Free-Roam Legendary Animals per week (2 mooses, 2 bears and 2 panthers), and for the last 3 weeks we would get the last 3 missions for Harriet (1 moose, 1 bear and 1 panther). So 7 weeks in total until the end of the Naturalist Update dripfeed (I guess) and the release of the Halloween Pass/Event.

 

Thing is I don't know when Rockstar will be releasing the 3 legendary Bighorn Rams (and new Nazar collections) for PC/XBox players, it's been more than a month now.

I'll see what happens but honestly I think it's time to end the streak. Without the reset glitch I'm at something like 500 days, give or take, and today I loaded up to go do the challenges for the day and then the new legendary mission for the discount voucher(s) but the moment I was done with the challenges I was honestly just like I cannot actually be f*cked and I'd much rather go do other stuff. I've got a few hundred gold piled up so I'm gucci for a good while as well.

That's the mindset I had in 2020 for a while now. And I feel free now. I play RDO when I want it, and then I enjoy it. It feels more like a hobby now that I spent time on when I have it and when I like to. It is much more enjoyable and I can appreciate the game for what it is. No complaining, I'm very happy with this update, I'm still Naturalist rank 5 (mostly due to XP vouchers), so there is still a lot of content to go through for me.

They're probably going to wait a little bit into the next gen console's life span to announce it so more people buy it on the current gen systems as it is the only way to experience it at the time and then Rockstar swoop in with a surprise next gen trailer and release and then more people will buy it twice.

Hmm; not that I know of. I did have several free OP3 gold bars and the generic trader coupons, etc.

Finally got the Poison Poppy pamphlet last night, ran into two guys on the edge of Cumberland Forest and took it off them. I guess I always just assumed Poison Poppy was a woman...

Not yet - I got the free shirt voucher, but not either of the role item vouchers. If it's anything like the free bandolier and Gila Monster flag from the start of the update, it might take a good 48 hours or so after sighting/sampling the coyote before the vouchers show up.

Found mine the first day we got low Lobbies. I was riding back to my Camp in Big Valley and came across some guys marked as "Poachers" who shot at me I rode past, I raided their camp once it had dealt with them and it was in a box.

I've been thinking about my streak, it's currently at 477 days, and I wanted to drop it when I hit a year, but carried on out of nothing but compulsion.

 

I'm in two minds really, I play daily because I'm really enjoying the game right now, so I might as well keep it going and it's going to end sometime because I'll go on holiday (would have ended for that reason already if it hadn't been for COVID) or because I'll have to spend a night or two away from home due to work. My streak was something like that too if it weren't for the FP update reset glitch, I basically played literally every single day since the streaks were introduced. I'm covered w/ gold + cash for multiple future updates and now I don't have to worry about losing the streak anymore, or going out of my way to load up RDO daily even if it's just for the challenges.

 

My old stance from when I actively played MMORPG's was that the moment I realised I was doing nothing but standing around in cities semi-afking, it was time to quit. I pretty much reached the equivalent of that in RDO during the content drought this year but I kept doing challenges in prep for the update, but yea I'm done now. I'll check out the new stuff, clothes, updates, whatever, when it all comes but no more daily RDO for me. I'm freeeeeeeeeee.

Yeah, those months of logging on to pick up .5 gold bars a day in preparation for an update that ended up being nowhere near the size anyone wanted, well, it feels kind of gross looking back.

 

I'm definitely not going through that again.

 

I'm really enjoying the game right now, these low pop lobbies feel sort of like I'm making up for lost time in terms of just playing because I'm enjoying playing. But when R* inevitably (I think) flick the switch for lobby merging back on, that'll probably be a reasonable point (if it's not directly before or after an update) to take a short break from the game and let my streak go.

From all the leaks and what R* has said, we should be getting new content nearly every week until the end of the year (legendary animal dripfeed, halloween, November/december update, and christmas content, I think we might get a christmas pass) which means until the end of the year we won't get a content drought. The big key is the first half of 2021. I think the game will come to next gen in Fall of 2021 (along with a really big RDO update either holiday 2021 or spring 2022). If RDO gets neglected the first half of next year like it was this year I don't think it can recover, If it doesn't and the next gen launch is successful this game has a shot of making it big.

 

Also remember when they kept talking about the photographer role and what a big deal it would be. When naturalist came out photography was such a side/optional feature. Maybe the next update will include lawman but won't just be that. It could be Lawmen & Outlaws (good vs bad similar to naturalist). Or could they have changed photographer to naturalist due to fan backlash? I doubt it just because naturalist was found in the files when monshiner came out, plus R* doesn't really care about fan feedback when it comes to update ideas. I just think the december update will be a really interesting one.
