To whomever just had four people in the Lobby chasing after them because they named their Horse after a Legendary Animal and rode around in the area it spawns in...

For the role augmentation, my guess is the bounty hunter role. The role is dead at the moment. There's no reason to really do any of the missions unless you want to earn gold, and you can earn gold very easily just by doing daily's.

I haven't touched anything to do with the role in a very long time, apart from doing a legendary bounty to gain some cash while waiting for something to finish.

Guns a-Blazin

This is my 2nd DLC Concept.

Title: The Law & Order Update

"Are you tired of running from the law? Are you worried about getting caught again? Are you scared of actually getting hanged this time? Well, FEAR NOT! You dirty outlaws have been given a life line and it is up to you to decide whether you want to redeem yourselves in this brand new update for Red Dead Online. Either join up with the law and make up for your past mistakes, or continue your days out on the road by being a nasty and unforgivable outlaw. Whatever you decide, there will be consequences...

Content:

Note: To start this new role, you need to buy the "Law Book" for 15 Gold Bars. You also have the option of working for Sheriff Freeman or Police Chief Benjamin Lambert. Working for Sheriff Freeman will let you control/protect towns and settlements. Working for Benjamin Lambert will just let you control and protect the city of Saint Denis. It doesn't matter which one you pick as they have unique missions and the same overall outcome (20 Levels).

  • Multiple Sheriff/Lawman Missions
  • Multiple Honourable/Dishonourable Sheriff/Lawman Missions
  • 1 Customisable Sheriff/Lawman Office (features an armoury, a jail cell and a place to rest)
  • 3 New Strangers (Landon Ricketts, Obediah Hinton & Tilly Jackson)
  • 30+ Clothing for Sheriff/Lawman
  • 3 New Facial Hair Options ("The Sheriff's Beard", "The Lawman's Beard" & "Arthur Morgan's Beard")
  • 1 New Walking Style ("Above The Law")
  • Lots of Random Events (breaking up saloon fights, stopping store hold-ups)
  • The Annesburg German Saloon Opens Up (shuts down before SM)
  • The ability to protect towns/settlements from Gang Attacks
  • The ability to take your Dogs out of Camp and use them as "sniffer dogs" in Missions and for the Collector role

Summary:

This is just a concept idea but I actually think this will be the December update. It's either this or a upgrade to the Bounty Hunter role. I don't think all these content features will make it into the game but it's wishful thinking...

What do you guys think? Would this be a good update for RDO?

Just personal thoughts, and talking from a point of probability in favor of smooth development. All of this is just a side factor, obviously not as big as community feedback and other factors like what rhymes with community feedback and developer preferences.

Don't worry, I don't know a single thing about the extensions so I'm speculating as normal.

A more strict version of the Bounty Hunter role? You could pursue those folks who for no reason shoot randomly in Blackwater or Saint Denis or cause chaos there.

ah so player bounties but without the bounty

Not just that, but it would be better if the lawmen are given a harsh or a hardcore version of the game, specifically referring to player names. Name Overhead Display should be disabled, that way there's value to wearing masks or bandanas, like if you were caught, you could return to the town, but with wearing such clothing, which is suspicious, but you could act fast and get around the town you were just in. Obviously, a lawman player won't see your name, thus he would have to investigate. This way the whole experience isn't all about "bam bam bam", but also detective work.

I, myself, would like to get caught and return to the same town I was just in, but with a different set of clothing and a different horse, just so I can play around with the lawman players patrolling there.

I'll say the Collector has a higher chance of being the receiving end of those "extensions and augmentations". Mainly, because it's a hot topic within the devs as every update introduce a new set of changes to the existing role. At this point, the role became a ball that can be tossed around easily without many obstacles in the way. On top of that, Rockstar talked about introducing a new change to the role, back then in the February interview, a new gameplay where a posse works together to figure out all the puzzles to earn a collectible.

Collector is definitely missing a "mission" aspect, missions similar to bounty hunts and legendary animal hunts, where you track clues and fight enemies to obtain a valuable item. If they want to expand and augment Collector, that's the direction they can go.

I would love a role that gives us the ability to steal and sell horses. Maybe steal and sell coaches as well, I don’t see why it’s not in online already aside from the fear that players wouldn’t buy horses?

They can add “legendary” treasures where it’s missions similar to naturalist and bounty hunter, or they can add a storyline that’s similar to moonshiner. Let’s say they are gonna expand the collector instead of adding lawman at the end of the year (it’s possible they do both at the same time) and add properties with that update it could be a pretty substantial update. Residential properties are the one thing they can add to the game without a role to come along with it, they can be similar to stranger missions where the first time you approach it there’s a cutscene from the seller. I just don’t think they’ll add properties by themselves as an update, which why it would be paired with a different role to make it a massive update.

also there’s a really simple way to make bounty hunter fun. Add the outlaw, that gives players a reason to get a high bounty, which means those who want to participate can have a fun war between bounty hunters and outlaws, right now there’s no benefit to having a high bounty which is why there’s barely any player bounties.

They are holding a lot of content, taking too slow in my opinion. The players not buying horses shouldnt be a worry as the variety of coats and breeds that spawn in online are very restricted.

A lawman could also work on a variety of protection type activities like escorting wagons, protect a train during it's travel (like trader route, but wih a passenger train and with bandits trying to break in) and something like the first RDR where a dog and you have to patrol an area and deal with some troubles around the town.
The bounty hunter should be part of this role if you think about it, so maybe intead of adding a separated role, they should just rework the bounty hunter.

It would be nice if along with a lawman role we get an outlaw role too, that it could work like the opposite of lawman, where we would go and rob people, wagons, train, houses... some of these mechanics are already in the story mode so it shouldn't be to hard to bring over to online.

Also it would be nice to get some roles that uses two other features that for now has been useless in online: wild horses and fishing / boats...

Dammit R* I want to fish in the middle of Flat Iron Lake in my 50 gold bars steam boat 🤠

Thank you. The reason why I post on here and the DLC wishlist is because i want to get everybody's opinion on things. If it's good enough, then I will send it to R*. Honestly though, I would love to see a Lawman role in RDO. Sooner or later, it's going to come out. Players have been craving for this kind of DLC in GTAO for years and it was so close to coming out in the summer but the pandemic obviously halted everything. If they're adding it to GTAO then they might as well add it to RDO. As I've said, i think this will be the December update. It's either this or an extension to the BH role. I doubt it'll be anything else.

And this would actually give players a real reason to interact with other players without causing any ill outcomes. I for one would actively work to get in trouble to be able to run from the lawmen players, the interaction wouldn't seem out of place at that point but reasonable. And the lawmen could toy with the outlaw player as well, they can strategically work together to bring them down.

It would also be cool to have player names on bounty boards for the lawmen to pick and choose which ones they want to collect, along with a board that has not only rescue/defend missions but also one that players can place a request for body guard types to help them with a long distance trader sale, etc.

And if this is the case it should come with the "outlaw" role so that they can make missions and events that are tailored to trying to build that bad name for your character. Making wrongs done against npc characters worth far more against the player's notorious rating than if they just randomly went about attacking other players. Because we all know that the introduction of this kind of role will further push trigger happy players into being more quick to pull that gun against unsuspecting players.

Also they have got to allow players to have their posse members try to break them free. I want to do jailbreaks so bad!

If all of that isn't being considered, I would pick the Bounty Hunter as the possible role to receive such extensions, as the Lawman role was mentioned in previous interviews.

I'm not trying to hate on the idea of expanding the Trader role, but I feel like it has received its fair share of side extensions, specifically the Moonshiner role that requires the Trader role and the Naturalist role that made hunting for materials easier by introducing legendary animals. I know it's not an actual expansion, but the other roles didn't receive much in terms of the side benefits that the Trader role received.

I said it a few pages back but, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they did wrap up the year with yet another trader expansion, there's at least one more route to expand it with fishing and they seem to really be intent on expanding that role for some reason. I'm hoping however, that it'll be something new, there's only so much hunting you can do.

I'm starting to go back on what I said, I feel like the Collector is less likely to be the receiving end. I don't know, I have mixed feelings about it. Whatever it is, it should be at least big enough. GTA Online is getting a map expansion, and we are getting "extensions and augmentations" on an existing role. It feels like history is repeating itself, GTA Online is once again gonna take the spotlight.

I have no doubt the next role will be eclipsed by GTAO, I think the role will be bigger than Naturalist, but not huge. I'm holding onto hope that Rockstar is using this GTAO update as some big fanfare to focus on RDO next year.

Mexico would make a lot more sense than Guarma. At least it on the same map. I doubt it will happen

I feel like GTA Online is going to get it's retina's burned out if it hasn't already, because it's been standing under the f*cking spotlight for 5 years now at least.

There is no way we are getting Guarma in the next few weeks. I wouldn't expect map expansions of any sort for Red Dead Online until the next-gen versions of the games are released. And if we did, I'm personally hoping it would be Mexico.

good opinion.  my speculation refers to the jaguar and the flag of guarma at the battle pass and I thought that we have to find this jaguar in guarma by getting a mission from herit or gus.

Seems like wishful thinking to be honest. Unless R* has been working hard on getting another part of the map opened up I just don't see how Guarma, or Mexico are possible. RDO is barely even started, hopefully, that they have so much more that they can add to what they have right now. A whole new map, comes with it's own troubles. Not that I am against Mexico, I've seen people having been able to find a way onto the map and the parts of it that are rendered are actually quite beautiful and they bring back so many memories.

For me it has to do with the fact that R* seems to be having trouble keeping this bare boned portion of the game afloat, adding Mexico or Guarma to that would put them in a far more precarious situation. At the moment I don't think they can handle the game with that big of an addition.

Besides who cares about RDRO when they have GTA.

Simple, the outlaw pass flags already exist in the game world and are visible throughout it. They most likely don't even have a flag design for New Austin and likely didn't want to add a real world flag for Mexico. Especially when we never go there.

Exactly, i would love to be a pinkerton, dont know if that would have sense given that we also have connections with outlaws lol, but it would be interesting to be called to act on a wide range of security affairs that would clearly surpass a mere deputy assistants one...  defense from cattle rustlers, horse thieves, gang attacks on cities, bank, trains and coach robbers etc, info gathering and tracking criminals with a semi spy work, different to the typical bounty hunting etc. I personally want it to be the less pvsp as possible .

So, I have finally encountered a legendary animal, despite not even starting the Naturalist role. It was one of the cougars, iguaga or whatever that looks no different from the average one, you find it next to Sean’s camp outside of Blackwater.

After reaching it first, killing it, skinning it, and subsequently killing an envious thief of a player who tried to murder me and steal it, I stowed it on my horse and went to Gus. Problem is, the only two things Gus has to offer for me is the Moonstone Wolf and Marble Fox, and nothing else.

Should I sell it to him anyway, or give it to my homie Cripps for 21.88 material, who has been straight and honest with me since our trader business started?

Just like in single player, you have to sell it to him before he can make an outfit out of it
