Remember this is pure speculation, and findings such as these have been in the files since day one and anything else that is in the stats_mp file so if there is anything of interest, be warned that it's not a sure thing that it will be contented to be added to the game in a future update.

 

I'm also getting a system in place where I can compare data that has been added when updates happen, so should be able to differentiate between day one data and new data but this will not always be the case and again, anything new not in the game also may not be content that gets released in the future and could have been added at time of creation of the said data, but Rockstar then changed direction.

I hope in the future they add the following:

 

  • Bird category - could include subcategories for small birds, predatory birds, flightless birds etc.  For the Animal Guide, it would be kill, sedate, sample, pluck, cook/craft, photograph.
  • Fish - could include sample, breakdown, cook, return, kill.
  • Horses - tame, ride, photograph, sedate, sample.

I'd also love if they could add legendary fish and maybe even legendary birds.   I suspect the exclusion of these three animal categories is because it's being saved for some future role expansion.

 

Finally, it would be great if they could enable players to create their own stores, craft their own outfits and sell to the online community.  There are some really creative players out there and as someone who struggles putting together cool outfits, I would love the chance to buy more options!

Also with regards to Birds being part of the Field Guide and the Naturalist update, birds have been commented out for the time being. This doesn't mean they could be added in the future, just that they've had to disable a plucked stat.

I'm still waiting for the Davies brothers to set up that shop they mentioned in the tutorial, I'm guessing R* are having trouble working out how to monetize horses and still get people to buy them.

@AdamNortonUK Not to discard your findings, but the stats or data regarding camp followers have been there since day one. I just feel like it's worth mentioning that, cause some people may claim this is coming in the next update, but it doesn't indicate or suggest such content is for sure coming. You have to note that it's totally possible that at the time of planning this content, Rockstar was unaware of or yet to come up with an approach to introduce a role in every future update. Therefore, what sounds more plausible, for me, are two possibilities. Rockstar either scrapped the whole thing and came up with another idea or planning to introduce said content as part of a new role with a new upgrade or a new look.

Yeah, I usually put a disclaimer in my findings, and I only posted the stats information as it was previously mentioned a couple pages back so was just posting the full stats on it instead of part of the data.

I hope people know that anything I've posted, or linked is just speculation and not a confirmation of such content coming. I really should disclaimer all my posts, but sometimes I end up forgetting.

I now have a system in place, at least starting from the Naturalist update to be able to compare if any new data is added so will avoid confusion in the future, but again, the same disclaimer will apply due to the fact the new content could have a Rockstar direction change half way through and it's just been left in the file.

I've always noted day one content, and my recent posts about camp followers etc. and not mentioning it as day one content was just an oversite as I was looking for something else but saw and posted it without any of my usual disclaimer warnings so thanks for bringing it to my attention as Ive now updated my recent post about the camp followers etc. as I don't want to be getting peoples hopes up, plus anything relating to camp followers, duels, livestock herding are only in one file or two files which obviously would lead me to believe it's cut content at this moment in time yet due to having roles now or they haven't figure out the best way to introduce it is my guess anyway.

There are 4 map cards in the game files @ \naturalist\update\patch\ui\ui_mapcards that show Clay. The other map cards in the folder are the images for multiplayer story loading screens such as the Horley, Marshall Davies, Samson Finch etc. Not sure if they are from SP or cut content, but they are there. EDIT: maybe they are from the very first mission, "Honor Among Horse Thieves".

Yeah they're likely the 4 starting locations during the tutorial, New Austin, New Hanover, Lemoyne, and West Elizabeth.

I get the impression the camp follower system is going to be an "offline" feature? You sent out your camp peeps to do X and they'll do that while you do something else or while you sleep or whatever. Unless it's tied to something bigger anyway, like running a ranch.

I hate that horses nor dogs can be sedated!!! wtf!!!... do they think we all are like griefers who enjoy killing animals outside of hunting?

Camp followers could work like the staff for nightclubs warehouses in gta online, they go and get trade stock, moonshine and stuff for collections. You pay them something like 50 cent a day, they get some certain amount per day of item, etc.

I like the idea of camp followers being something like where we can pick who sits in our camp out of all the roles instead of just Cripps.

 Right?! I dont want to kill dogs or horses, I would prefer to tranquilize the noble beasts.  

 

  I would really love if we could tranquilize people too.

 

  Anybody know if those references to "Director Mode" are new or a recurring thing? I really want to get excited about it all, but they just released a new camera that would be immediately abandoned if R* Editor ever shows up.

Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the harmonica on Cripps?

 

I swear there are a few songs on there that he plays that drives me absolutely insane. I constantly have to shoot in the camp to startle him for a few seconds to stop him playing it.

Yesterday, when I was doing Trade Routes, a player in a cougar fursuit came up to me and did the cougar taunt as we waited on the train to pick up speed, probably thinking he’s being cute and quirky.

 

Well, you know what I did? I did the Point & Laugh taunt, and he promptly stopped lmao.

It’s in the stats_mp file which is for online only if it’s not cut online content and never happens anyway.

 

Also, an update on the broken down wagons you can find that has a lockbox with a collectible, it’s not just alcohol bottles, just got a Goat Hair Brush, so could be other collectibles not just limited alcohol bottles or heirlooms. 

 

So be sure not to ignore them if you see them at the site of the path when your roaming around, this is the one I just found:

I had a player collide with me on the road, they were kind enough to revive my horse and we both did the laugh emote on each other. 😁

 

That's the only reason I truly like the blips, because they tell me when another players is barreling toward me when I'm heading out on the road. Not that it always stops collisions, obviously, but I do avoid more players than I collide with.

This is what I would like, my character is so lonely and to have a camp that feels like an actual home would be nice. Give us a story mode camp, with other outlaws/hunters/collectors that make it feel more alive and it might actually drive us to want to involve ourselves with it a little more. For instance, I'd love my own npc that plays his guitar and sings around the fire, maybe a few girls to keep them all company, I am longing for my camp to feel alive. In GTA you buy properties that have activities that you can do while there, why is our camp so "dead" beyond eating and petting our one and only dog. Oh and I'd love to have more than one of those too, btw. A big old bloodhound would be awesome, or a wolfhound?

They are too obtuse in their views... their intern brains couldnt conceived a dual function to sedation... just to fill animal catalogue and deal with the eta bitch...the rest was too complex to codify it seems...

A small chance to get a treasure map, count me in! I hope it's gonna be an interesting feature.

I would like more little stations and NPC's at the camp. Right now it feels kinda empty with just Cripps and my dog.

The horses types and coat that spawn are very reduced, aside the typical kentucky, tenesse and morgan, we ocassionally get the lowest tiers of american standarbred(buckskin), hungarian halfbred(flaxen), throughbred (the grey one) and very rarely nokotas, all in very precise spawning points. So it doesnt interfere at all with the horse store for us.

Here's a thought: if the next update features an expansion to an existing role, what if "camp followers" are new people you hire for Cripps' Trading Co. - ?

 

As in, starting Trader already expands your camp setup, so it might be that this adds even more 'modules' to it, and you can pick and choose what extras you use, and who you want manning each bit of the operation.

 

(in which case, I hope it only happens if you've already accepted Cripps' letter and converted your camp over to the Trader role - my camp is still just a humble campsite, and I'd like to keep it that way, ta! :p)

I'll say the Collector has a higher chance of being the receiving end of those "extensions and augmentations". Mainly, because it's a hot topic within the devs as every update introduce a new set of changes to the existing role. At this point, the role became a ball that can be tossed around easily without many obstacles in the way. On top of that, Rockstar talked about introducing a new change to the role, back then in the February interview, a new gameplay where a posse works together to figure out all the puzzles to earn a collectible.

If all of that isn't being considered, I would pick the Bounty Hunter as the possible role to receive such extensions, as the Lawman role was mentioned in previous interviews.

I'm not trying to hate on the idea of expanding the Trader role, but I feel like it has received its fair share of side extensions, specifically the Moonshiner role that requires the Trader role and the Naturalist role that made hunting for materials easier by introducing legendary animals. I know it's not an actual expansion, but the other roles didn't receive much in terms of the side benefits that the Trader role received.

Just personal thoughts, and talking from a point of probability in favor of smooth development. All of this is just a side factor, obviously not as big as community feedback and other factors like what rhymes with community feedback and developer preferences.

Don't worry, I don't know a single thing about the extensions so I'm speculating as normal.

A more strict version of the Bounty Hunter role? You could pursue those folks who for no reason shoot randomly in Blackwater or Saint Denis or cause chaos there.
