Quick notes from investor call from Strauss (GTA and Red Dead related);

 

GTA 5 has now sold 135 million copies in total

Promotion on Epic Games severely boosted sales in GTA:O, no profit loss from lack of physical/digital copies sold

They mentioned that the summer update for GTA 5 will be it's biggest yet, with "a new take on heists"

New details for GTA V PS5 to arrive in the coming months from Rockstar

RDR2 (not online) outperforming forecast
Red Dead Online sales increase and has surpassed expectations

Naturalist update was RDO's best day in the year, had done well on release day and is continuing to do well
Through the coming year, more updates will come to GTA Online and Red Dead Online (no specifics)

That sort of detail wouldn't be mentioned or talked about in the investor call unless it was announced by the label (Rockstar themselves) to the public.

This was sony's tweet earlier today. The state of play happens on thursday, GTAV was shown in june's showcase, and like you said T2 said we will find out more this month about next gen GTAV. I would not be surprised at all if GTAV makes an appearance, and if they even announce the update, along with an RDR2 next gen reveal. The state of play is 40 minutes, I can see sony giving R* 3-5 minutes to announce whatever they want. I would not be surprised if they open the show again. Shark cards and gold bars are sold through the ps store on playstation which means sony gets a 30% cut of whatever is sold on ps store (or whatever deal they have with R*) which means I could see why sony would find it beneficial to talk about GTAO.

Strauss just confirmed in the "coming months", when asked about the decision to split GTA 5 for next gen into SP and Online.

Nah, i dont think rdr2 is announced for next gent, until at least next year when the system is more stable and known.

I see people talking about the lawmen role as if it is exclusively the lawmen. They introduced two ways of playing the naturalist role in this update which I think hints at the next role doing the same. The naturalist either does conservation and study of animals or you hunt and kill them for profit. So I imagine the next role would be Lawmen/Outlaw and be more based on your karma, giving more of a reason for honor to matter in online. So like how Harriet sprays you after killing animals, for the lawmen you wouldn't be able to work that end of the role unless your honor was in the good range. I'm sure someone has said this already but it just seems very obvious thats what is gonna happen now that we're seeing the naturalist kinda be two roles in one in some ways.

I like that idea of having the two factions. I’m really curious as to what the in-game numbers would be for low honour vs high honour players.
