RDO Next Updates Speculation & General Chat (Part I)

This update has made the trader role extremely easy and I love it. All you have to do is go to Harriet and ask for a legendary animal mission. Instead of sedating the animal just kill it (her getting mad has no consequences so who cares) and for example a legendary elk hide is worth over 50 materials while a regular cougar is worth 16. You can resupply crips fully with just two legendary animals. Store 5 in your wagon and get your moonshine going, and after that you can either bounty hunt, collect (sorry I know that’s a sensitive topic rn) or collect samples for Harriet, or even do what you need for the trapper while your other two businesses make money. If you set everything up in one location (I have everything in Great Plains) you don’t even have to ride around a lot. Making money in this game is still easy and fun, even after the collector nerf. I still haven’t done anything for Gus so I need to get on that but I’m taking things slow and I’m really enjoying it. So far 8/10 update for me (I love hunting in RDO though, I get it for people who don’t). Also quick question, I’m not very creative at making outfits, anywhere I can go where people have examples of outfits and what I have to buy to make that outfit? I’d really appreciate it! (At the moment I’m looking for an outfit that would fit a rich hunter/trapper and one that is more naturalist but cooler than what R* gave us, like one that focuses on bow and arrow).

That Halloween Pass.... did you see the three horse masks that’s greyed out at Gus’ store? Names like Phantom and Flayed. Is that a mistake? It’s a dead giveaway for the pass.

If they do release a new showdown/mode for halloween and it is undead overrun, please, please let it be a permanent feature.

I dont think it will happen but what if there was a two week zombie filled event in free roam, would that frustrate people?

I don't think anyone would complain. They could add red/green circles to indicate "infected" areas around the map.

Do you still get role XP for shooting it?

 

Cause I'd rather have the Role XP tbh as this role is just a bitch to level

Never without one appears to be working with legendary animals coats....which would mean there is no way to shoot your hat off or losing hat by being tackled.

To me, the advanced camera is well worth it. I used the kit camera a bit first and hated it. I thought I was standing directly in front of the animal, but when I equipped the kit camera it didn’t seem to be pointing in the same direction. The advanced camera let’s you move much more freely, so much easier. The advanced camera also has white framing bars when using it. Those turn green when you have the animal in the picture, so you know when to snap. Makes it easy to get a picture when the animal is in grass, bushes, fog, etc...basically point the thing until you see the green and snap. I just wish we could use the camera on horseback. And not being able to use eagle eye when the camera is equipped is annoying.

I think you can rank it up pretty fast just by doing legendary animals missions and sell the samples to Harriet (around 1000 xp each time). After you are done leveling up, you can just do what RS said. Ignore Harriet and bring the hides to Cripps.

Yeah agreed. We just need to have more clarification on things but now it looks like we are going to be getting an Halloween Pass aswell as the normal December update which is always good.

I heard from a youtuber the mission cooldown is 30 minutes.

So there is a 45 min timer. And you get 3 legendaries to do in that 45 mins. After the 45 mins it resets. And you can rinse and repeat.

The card is lit in the top right indicating its active.  You have been able to get head shot for a very long time.  The card was pretty trash because if you use it...the game spawns you without a hat after it shot off because the custom outfit save mechanic.  That  custom outfit automatic mechanic is still stupidly in the game.  I did not test anything, the card is just lit.  The legendary animal coats do not fall off.

Armadillo and some of its surrounding area could be a good place to limit it to; wouldn't miss much, as there's little to nothing to do there anyway... and that's where the plague/bodies are.

I did a bit of a search and the last mention of fossils was during the release hype on Tuesday.

 

PS players said you can buy a fossil map from Madam, I haven't seen that, I went to spots I saw the PS players collecting fossils on a stream (using the metal detector) and got nothing.

 

I checked the jeanropke map and there's tabs for the three types, all notated [PS4] at the end of the line, though none actually show up as markers on the map.

What's up with this?

Yeah, the guy i heard it from must have been wrong.

The fossils are PS4 exclusive early access content. I don’t remember how long it’s exclusive to PS4 for, but it will eventually be available on all platforms.

Harriet doesn’t buy them. It seems it’s just for 100% completion of the animal field guide/compendium. There is a buckle reward related to 100% completion of certain # of animals though.

its 48 mins. and you unlock the 3rd slot after reaching certain rank in naturalist role. There are a couple of different animals as well. I think like 5-6.

Im on lvl 12 now and he gave me 1 new LA, now I can hunt 3 animals that’s what I noticed

I think it would be a good idea if they make a server filled with zombies and one that’s normal, and the zombie server is only available for 1-2 weeks.

Yeah, certainly not everyone wants to do the zombie infestation; I sure do (for a while anyway--some cool places to defend/escape from them), but people who don't want to should be able to play RDO as normal.
