RDO Next Updates Speculation & General Chat (Part I)

what will you do when the announcement for the next Major update comes next week? (freak out, rejoice, cry ......)

If, or when the next update will be released I wonder if they will do something with the financial system in the game. If Rockstar had planned to have a somewhat steady flow of updates fot this game with items, features for players to spend money on then they obviously what is going to happen since we have not had an update for a long time is that with the current system and price level in the in-game economy most loyal players will have more then enough gold and RDO dollars to max out whatever content in almost no time at all, or just about the time it takes to gain levels in the outlaw pass.

 

The lack of update has effectively ruined the whole financial bases of the in-game economy in this game unless they change it or add some really pricey items like houses, flats, farms etc with a host of update options and cosmetic and usual updates one can purchase, and to be perfectly honest from a "Hey Rockstar wants players to purchase in-game gold with real money" this long dead period has created a problem as most loyal players are loaded by now. Next to the things I have to have in the game I am only left with perhaps a few horses, saddles and weapons costumization to spend my money on and I have about 54K and 615 gold. For me that in itself is an incentive to let my streak go and then only do a few dailies and keep the game on the back burner.

Easy fix. They can, always devalue the $RDO and introduce new currency - add something new like the blue token or expand on that. Or add a barter system.

 

RDR2O economy has been meshuggah,

from day one. The bolero hat in RDR2O, costs 8 gold.

 

So, here's the thing... is story mode gold and online gold. Valued the same? Because a single gold bar in story mode is worth  $500.

the online state in pc is sad you need to wait like 30-60 m to play a Showdown and in free roam events you meet the same people every time.,.....

It's not much better on console. After the first few months showdowns have been dead.

 

The thing is, PvP in RDO is awful, both in free roam and showdowns. Add that to most of the RDO player base not being particularly interested in PvP regardless of whether it's good or not and you get a situation like we have now, where all the modes are empty.

Even without the collector role you make more than enough money for everything.

For example one legendary bounty payout is $337 right now, thanks to bonus.

I'm thinking that an update may drop on the 31st, but hopefully it will drop before then.... and they're gonna have to do release something soon as every one will have too much gold with nothing to spend it on... I'm just about to hit 1,000 bars on PC... (only done via daily challenges).. and nothing in the game to use it on.... other than some personation options that cost gold, but as they don't stick and cost gold each time you make a change.. it's not worth it...

It's like the daily challenges for the 'update hairstyle' or whatever... I spent more gold on the hairstyle and would have to spend more gold when I want to go back to my preferred style, than I would earn from that daily challenge...

Rockstargames are lazy or something else the delay not because COVID, this is not an excuse look at the other companies , I am not talking about epicgames ( Fortnite ) , I am talking about high graphics games like rainbow six siege , call of duty warezone and too many other games they release new updates with new contents & they are working remotely from home too like rockstargames so this is not excuse from rockstargames because the pandemic

I'm just as unhappy as anyone else but I can assure you a billion dollar company is not simply lazy, RDO is incomparable to a first person combat game largely built on reused and tweakable animations.

It can be the reason they've not updated though. That doesn't mean it's a reasonable defense at this point or anything, or that you're defending Rockstar by saying it. GTAO has the same issues which adds more reason to believe they have struggled with lockdown.

That's actually the most pertinent explanation. Due to COVID most of the game development companies are working short-handed/understaffed. Not everything can be dealt via WFH and I did jump on GTAO last night after almost 5 to 6 month hiatus. There are stability issues plaguing at a lot of places. I wouldn't get any update notifications even though I was running an outdated copy of the game. Makes you wonder if another Major RDR update or GTAVI is a priority at this point.

The economy is totally ok. Rockstar never earned money with the hardcore gamers. Same like GTA.

They earned money from beginners and casual players who come or come back with the updates. So Rockstar needs the update desperately.

 

Everybody who thinks it's to easy to earn gold in this game just think a moment: If they add a update with lets say 2 new roles which costs 25 bars each and an outlaw pass for 50: You have to spend 170 gold to buy everything plus all the cosmetic stuff. And for a beginner and casual gamer it will take forever to earn this in game without spending real money. 

 

Finally Rockstar made the most money in GTA with overpowered griefing bullsh*t for noobs. I prefer no update before they release something like the oppressor mk2 and this beautiful game also will be flooded with Fortnite-Kids just craving for the cheap kill.

When moonshiner came out they had a promotion to buy 25 gold bars for a cheaper price, I can see them doing that a lot in the future. I bet they made a lot of money off of moonshiner update. They DEFINITELY made a lot of money during the frontier pursuits update. Let's also not forget the OP3, I bet OP makes them a lot of money.

The economy isn't broken, the rate of RDO$ for all the main roles still okay, collector's requires some good time of farming to actually get a good money, Ah but online maps kills all the funny (that i can agree) but yet, the game is more grinding and punishing for newer or lower level players which makes RDR-O feels like early GTA-O updates, so people rely after those maps, can't criticize them.

 

For things such as Online-story based missions, non-role FR missions and competitive modes, yes, since the rate of RDO$ + ~ based on the time passed in the mission or overall place/position in competitive modes.

 

Clothes which costs gold ... i can't say this looks or it is even fair, but at least they could work better in variations/types, unique things and etc ... (reminder that special edition bandoleer costed 18 golds, some high-end horses too.. plus the black Arabian Horse which costs +40 gold, which is disgraceful, i bought one, because i had more than enough gold and when it was discounted, but yet 29 gold, more than a single non-discounted role).

 

They are working on those QABeta branches, it is something at least, yet i'm not-getting my hopes high.

Lol, I still have that, what was it $4.99 for 25 gold? Wasn't that the offer on the table? But I won't buy it.
