I went to the feedback page and suggested they communicate with the player-base more.

It's really all we can do.

the 2 weeks thing is interesting though

tuesday could be the truth

Any day is a chance for news. But the 2 weeks bounty hunter bonus is not really related to that. Even if we get news next tuesday, it has nothing to do with it.

Because the current event week doesnt even last 2 weeks, this is just spread misinformation. The only thing that lasts 2 weeks are the bonuses for players who start bounty hunter, rank up or reached rank 20.

Every other bonuses, like the discounts and bonus payout last one week.

Also in the past we have seen several 2 week event weeks or bonuses and several deadlines that turned out to mean nothing. It has been like this since before Frontier Pursuits.

Remember when people thought we would get something in June because a posse bonus expired then? Or people thought we'd get something because R* released all limited clothing?

Totally unrelated.

Every day can be the day, but the 2 week bonus means absolutely nothing.

EDIT: Also, GTAO has the same drought as RDO. No updates or communication since December last year. The small formula addition was just dripfed from the casino heist.

So if we are not hearing anything about GTAO, we won't hear anything about RDO.

The only number that truly means something is August 3rd, the next investor call. We can assume that R* at least wants updates announced by this day.

which roll  or features do you want in the next Major update?

i wish discover roll and outlwa and lawman roll with houses and cars and bike and plane / balloon

Outlwa and lawman roll are actually integrated in rdo so I mean the two stories Mission of rdo that of the lawman roll is the mission where you have to protect the city of valentine and the other mission of outlwa is the bank robbery. So we have the cornerstone for both of these roles

I also think that this month it may not come because it is very close to the month is over and Rockstar may leave the update for the beginning of August, but perhaps an announcement may even come next week saying that August comes content for the game.

Thanks for the correction. My german ingame info said one week for the discounts.

Even then, we got multiple 2 week event weeks before frontier pursuits if you remember. It started in July 2019 when we had the first 2week event week. But we got the update in September.

Yeah well no one knows, I also said here before that in-game it says that the discounts are until Monday. I don't know which one is more reliable, probably social club, but it's still not a 100%. We just have to wait until Tuesday to find out what happens.

Great observation! This were also the best received story missions. Also showing how to differentiate lawman and bounty hunter. BH is about capturing targets. Lawman is about protecting civilianzs and fighting gangs.

Now what do I wish for the next update? Basically everything. But in terms of realistic wishes? I would be very happy about legendary animals, new story missions, and the expansion to the Bounty Hunter and Collector. The communal spaces and cooperative collector gameplay Rockstar talked about sounds interesting as well.

Then you will be disappointed.

We are lucky if the next update offers even half of the things I wrote in the imaginary R* newswire.

2 new roles, updates to all previous roles, new story missions and qol for everything is like the best we can hope for, and also very unrealistic. We won't even get that in the next update. So if that doesn't satisfy you, you should probably move on as you stated.

Time will tell, but I expect it not to live up to my hopes, but we'll see. I'll move on when I'm ready to though as I'm in no hurry for the free hard drive space just yet, cheers.

It would be tragic if, like you said, we didn't even get half of what you mentioned though, lol. 7 months of nothing and such a small update, that'll piss off more than it should I'm sure.

Still, it'll be entertaining either way. They either deliver and I/many are loving it and far more fulfilled and entertained. Or they offer sweet FA, and here will be fireworks. 🤣

All of this is R*’s fault, the longer the wait between the updates the more people will expect, especially when there is 0 communication, I’m honestly expecting a HUGE update because I still believe they ended up combining 2 updates in one. I of course could be wrong but only time will tell, let’s hope I’m right.

Yea you're exactly right. They've created a situation where the community is expecting something massive. They'd be wise to temper expectations if it's not, but that would require... communication.

I hope you're right too, lol.

I want a huge DLC that is a real game changer and offers good variety of things, but I expect nothing or just more of the same really and I keep my expectations low, much like with GTA, and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

IMHO, the casino heist is a good example of being pleasantly surprised, as after the doomsday heist with those hard hitting and buggy clones, I figured that new heist would be equally plagued, but it turned out to be a pretty cool heist really. I've really enjoyed that and this game needs that kind of addition and more now to really get us gamers stuck right in.

We've waited more than long enough for this game to start fleshing out with a good variety of stuff now, time R* really delivered.

I just want to add one more thing. For those who think R* is waiting for next gen to release an update please consider this. Ps4 and xbox1 came out in November 2013, gtav came out on next gen in sept of 2014 (I could be a month or 2 off but around that time) and the heist update didn’t come out until March of 2015, almost a year and a half after the release of next gen consoles. Gtav is scheduled to come out on ps5 and series x second half of 2021, I’m expecting the same time frame for rdr2, which means we won’t see any substantial next gen updates to their online games until early 2022 (it takes them a while to get used to the new consoles) so if you think T2 would allow R* not to update their online games for over 2 years you’re wrong. It would be a MASSIVE wasted opportunity and would definitely affect their bottom line. RDO and GTAO are both gonna get 2 updates this year in my opinion, and I think both games will see an update before the end of august and another one in December.

Also think about this. R* and t2 sit down every January, they review their online games and decide how many updates the game will receive that year. GTAO the last two years got 2 updates each year because the game was doing very well but not breaking records. There’s no doubt they will always do a summer update and a December one, they have every year. This year (after the record breaking December) I believe they decided each game was gonna get 3 updates. GTAO was supposed to get F1 update in March/April and RDO was supposed to get photographer (maybe lawman) and then each game was gonna get a summer and a December update. Covid obviously messed their schedule up which is why I think they ended up combining the update for both games. Mocap was definitely done because they started working from home in mid March, pretty close to when they usually release a spring update, so if they didn’t combine the updates I’m Pretty sure they could’ve had a small update done by now for both games but I think they saw how many people were home and gaming and they wanted to capitalize with huge updates (but I also they they ended up getting internal delays like they usually do) which is why I think it’s taken this long. If you think about it what I said makes sense.

Yea the tHeY'rE wAiTiNg FoR nExT gEn theories are a bit silly when you actually think about for a second. Rockstar launching an online game only to actually start supporting it properly - a move which would require moving staff from other projects to RDO - two years later. Yea, no lol.

Anyone who thinks there is more to this delay than coronavirus has 7 months of proof.  Multiple online games have updated and given progress reports.  R* cannot be given the benefit of the doubt that this drought is soley related to the pandemic.

Whatever their plans...it involves making money...delaying updates to increase revenue makes perfect sense.  No one on current gen is buying gold bars and not only that every update that put on this gen breaks the game.  The game isnt being abandoned though.  The game has big enough player base to justify GTAO type dlcs for years.

....What exactly is going to change here with a next-gen upgrade?

People buy microtransactions when they are playing and typically when updates release. There's a reason Fifa Ultimate Team went from only a few event cards a year to, and I just so happened to count this earlier, over 50 so far. Everytime they drop them, people spend money. Every time Rockstar drop an update, people spend money. Delaying updates to "increase revenue" making perfect sense is... not really? Bigger updates generate more hype, sure, but long term it's no guarantee that it will actually increase revenue. The only thing that has shown to increase profits long term in these live service games is continuous good support because if you have that then it keeps the new players coming in and the returning players coming back. We have years of proof of this.

As for every update breaking the game, GTA V / GTAO is a last-gen game and it it's not like that got fixed when it made the jump to this gen. The idea that they're withholding updates because every update breaks the game is tin foil hatty to say the least.

I'd honestly find the whole idea more believable if GTAO was out here getting updates but GTAO is on pretty much the same content drought as RDO.

GTAO has been on extended droughts through last year it had two updates.   I personally believe next gen version will have a story mode addition map or rdr1 included.  To ensure all players rebuy the game.  They might even sell it as a stand alone like GTAO instead of a free add on. All of these options make pushing everything towards next gen even if its one update is probably worth it.

GTA V is seven years old, it's at the tail end of it's life span but Take-Two keeps going Dr Frankenstein on it and refuses to let it die cause it still makes money.

RDO is a relatively new game that finally got the foundations it needed to go... and then they decided to wait another year at least to actually build on those foundations? That's not how you build a playerbase, and you need one of those if you want to make money. I do agree with you that they could perhaps sell an RDR2/RDO enhanced with a map expansion or something to bring people back but a company of Rockstar's size can juggle multiple things. If they wanted to maximise revenue they'd keep pumping RDO with content to get players prepped for the supposed announcement of a premium remaster with a map expansion so it's an easy sell, cause if they went a whole year without content and announced that I'd wager a lot of people are going to respond with "nah I've moved on".

I think the summer update has been pushed to the holidays nothing major and nothing that cannot be chalked up to coronavirus to all but the most hardcore players.  Its risky because if we go then the game would be done.  But they know most of us are suckers/addicted to games and we will come back.  Its the opposite stance of most companies which have released more content because of the pandemic.  I would not even mind if they actually gave good weekly updates like inceased gold payouts for dailies or better rewards for doing dailies.  But some of their decisions lately have really rubbed me the wrong way...I mean GTAO being the only annoucement for 6 months...they arent getting a pass from me this time.

I have moved on. This, after trying so hard to keep a hopeful outlook for what was to come. For months I looked at it all with optimism, telling myself that there was no way a company like R* would just let their online game with this much potential fall apart. I could say I'm disappointed, but I'm also angry and saddened by the decisions R* made to not only fail to give online players substance to keep us wanting more. But to ignore us to the point that every newswire they make now seems to be a condescending amount of dribble that shows how they obviously aren't even trying.

When I do purchase the new system I probably will not be buying any new versions of RDR2 unless I find it on sale for really cheap, like when I finally bought GTA a few months ago for $10. And even that's probably going to be a few years down the road because I never buy new systems until they have made their rounds and worked through their issues. As for GTA, no I will not buy that game again.

Fallout 4 was the last Bethesda game I ever purchased, RDR2 just might be the last R* game.

This!!! if one wants to sell gold, the road to it is releasing content with little gaps to reduce grinding chances for players. A perpetual money spending in game, that seduce the real life money flow via paywalls. With that in mind, I dont understand the lack of content for so long... every noob and their mother has at least 100-150 gold with little effort... so how they are gonna sell it ? Raising the cost of everything and screwing the economy ? I dont think so.

my guess is the pandemic screw them so hard for reasons they are ashamed to reveal, that they are trying to mix the udpate scheduled for may with the august - september one and surprise us. Nonetheless the lack of information pisses people off , and maybe we would be  way happier if at least some of the content of story mode had been released as a f*cking gesture: the exclusive breeds, the m199 for gods sake, a few slots added for outfits, horses and saddles,  and some free roam missions here and there. Was that really hard to do? Dont think so, and I dont buy the whole "giving  little content without huge update behind reduce their gains", argument, because with all this weekly bonuses and the people having so much time to play and with 0 content,  the grind for the sake of it is all they have,  So instead, they will still loose money and get the fandom pissed moronically.

My brain cant understand their great plan  for sure.

There's a somewhat elegant solution to dealing with the glut of gold in the economy.

Introduce a new premium currency and make gold the intermediary. The only ways to get the new currency, is to actually pay out of your pocket for it, and also introduce a system that allows the player to transfer their gold into the new premium currency at a considerable ratio (say 20:1).

Of course, they would have to back this up with appropriately desirable items that will function as effective currency sinks that would make players want to offload their gold.
