Can someone in-game check at the benifits section untill when the discounts are? Because when I looked this afternoon before the newswire post was out, it said untill 20th July.

I know everyone is frustrated (trust me so am I) but I’m not willing to say this game is dead unless they announce and release a GTAO update without ever mentioning the RDO update. GTAO update clearly isn’t dead but they haven’t received any news of an update this year either.

Some big media outlets are now picking up the clown story in RDO and the lack of info from Rockstar, curious what Rockstar is gonna do now that it's getting more attention.

I think this might finally get R* to at the very least mention the next update. They hate when big gaming outlets talk negatively about their games. If gamespot or IGN write about this R* will surely take notice. I just think some of these outlets are afraid to write negatively about R* because they fear of being blocked from future game coverage, all these outlets know what a big deal early coverage of GTA 6 will be and I think they are afraid R* might blacklist them. 
 

I just checked, some international gaming outlets are covering this as well. I think it needs more attention before R* responds to this but I think the community is on the right track to maybe force R* hand at talking about the next update. Nobody wants them to rush the update, we just want communication.

Maybe it's time for the community to show them that we are not just consumers or fans. and that they can't leave us like that without even wanting to know what's going on, I think it's a great idea about the clowns.

Now that the clowns have attracted attention, the community needs to up their game. Though much more difficult to orchestrate, I think a blackout/boycott is the next logical step. Stop playing the game , especially on Tuesdays when Rockstar likely expects an uptick in numbers. Someone needs to force Rockstar's hand

Why would they reveal a current gen Red Dead Online Update at the Xbox Games Showcase focusing on NextGeneration Xbox Series X games?

Since 2016, Microsoft isn't doing these types of exclusivity deals anymore.

They want to do marketing deals, but are not interested in locking content etc. from other platforms.

So as an example they have a marketing deal with FarCry 6, Watch Dogs Legion, AC Valhalla or Cyberpunk. All that does is put the Xbox logo before trailers, advertise Smart Delivery and show gameplay with Xbox buttons.

While Sony still does these types of exclusive stuff.

 

So I don't think they would like deals like play RDO for free 3 months only on Xbox Series X. But they'd like to put the Xbox logo before the RDR2 NextGen trailer for sure.

Interesting theory.

GamePass deals are set in stone. So they probably signed it this spring and they already know when it leaves GamePass. They need to announce a game leaving GamePass 2 weeks before.

So if it leaves mid August it means they planned a August DLC early this year, and i can not simply imagine this.

I think you would want GamePass players to actually get to play the update at least for the first weeks to make them buy Gold Bars.

Funny thing is if this clown thing gets more people to log in to participate T2 executives will just spin it into "a healthy vibrant community of loyal players making their own fun in our expansive ever evolving welcoming open world" and then they will compare it to the alien war of GTAO. Those two things aren't similar at all because the alien war was not a protest regarding lack of content, it was just an organic thing the player base built (I still think R* missed a great opportunity by not capitalizing on it).

 

Also please don't have high hopes for the Xbox event, I don't want people to get disappointed. Since it was announced in may the Xbox event in July has been marketed as a first party showcase, R* is not an Xbox first party company. Unless Xbox had a massive shift in mentality since the PS5 event, this event will only be first party games. I think it would be very difficult for the Xbox team to shift so drastically in a month, this is why I think Xbox has another event in August with third party announcements. What I am trying to say is there won't be a RDO announcement in the July Xbox Showcase because it just doesn't make sense.

My only glimmer of hope is that they really are doing a red dead redemption remake with the rdr2 engine and that is taking resources from RDO at the moment

Because MS would pay them good money. I also don't think that it will just be info about the update. I think they will use RDR2 to show off the new Smart Delivery system and/or announce a free upgrade to the next Xbox version via Smart Delivery. Why you ask? Same as before, MS paid them alot of money.

I also don't think they will do anything exclusive. Sony has gotten shafted for the GTAO reveal and rightly so but as I said above I could see them using RDR2, not specifically Online, to show off the next Xbox. Imagine what RDR2 running at Native 4K and a rock solid 60fps with settings on high would do.

 

I said earlier that I cannot think of another reason why they are holding the Update back.

We already know 3rd party will be part of the Xbox Games Showcase.

It is their digital E3. Just a month later.

 

The simple reason why they advertised it first as Xbox Game Studio games in May is because their May show didn't feature any 1st party games and there was a lot of uncertainty back then about their global partners.

 

Reputable insiders also confirmed big 3rd party appearances.

Elden Ring, Dying Light 2, Far Cry 6, Cyberpunk 2077, Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster, Dragon Age 4, Tales of Arise are rumored to make an appearance.

If I remember correctly the PS5 event was called as much but we opened with a GTA remaster.

So you say they are holding back an update for current gen consoles because they want to show off the Smart Delivery feature of RDR2?

Why would R* announce RDR2NextGen and an online update in the same day. Doesn't seem like R* style. Also don't think MS would want to waste peoples time with an online update trailer.

 

If that's really the case though, then I think that...

MS wanted RDR2 NextGen marketing. So they made a deal and paid R* a good sum. But R* also thought about how to grow Red Dead Online.

So they thought the only way to make Red Dead Online successfull is to have a bigger update that's actually exciting alongside a RDR2NextGen announcement in a big show with lots of viewers to make people check out RDO. To get attention from the mainstream and gaming YouTubers who really don't know what is going on with RDO.

So in that regard it would be smart PR.

But I'm not sure...

Yep, for the same reason that R* would put out the PS3 trailer to announce the PS5 version at the PS5 event. Money.

I won't hold my breath. Xbox Games Showcase will be great whether or not Rockstar will be a part of it.

Likely not part of it because Jim Ryan from PlayStation already said the R* partnership will continue in the next generation.

 

 

Next up is the August 3rd investor call. I expect something from R* before that.

Still interesting that one Twitch Prime reward ends July 21st while all the others end November 30th.
