RDO Next Updates Speculation & General Chat (Part I)

I don't understand the technical stuff everyone talks about very much, I really appreciate the explanations from everyone. But from everything you all have been saying this just seems to be a more odd update than a regular pc patch. Again I could be wrong and misunderstanding the situation, but every other time qabeta2 updated and a pc patch followed all this other stuff did not happen right? So something else must be about to happen right?

Yeah I guess so, Fun can answer that better but from the last couple of months, we haven't seen these unusual updates, so I think it suggest that the DLC is going into a different stage right now. The fact that qabeta updated is also weird, and now with these big updates to qabeta2 with the DLC depots I think says that the DLC is in there, and the PC patch in qabeta. That would be good news but it still doesn't say anything when the DLC is going to be, Rockstar can do whatever they want or are just doing some other work because of the lockdown. 

 

We are now halfway through July, and you would think this would be the month right? We also have the GTAO update and I think some people said here before that Rockstar probably don't want the two DLC's release at the same time. You would think one of them would drop this month and the other in August? But again, it's Rockstar and they just don't care.

Just some general questions. How does SteamDB get all this back end information? Why is all that info not private?

 

It seems that Steam is an open book, which makes me wonder why developers even test builds there instead of just updating it when ready. How come there is no Rockstar Launcher DB? OriginDB? UPlay Etc...

I still think T2 fell in love with releasing both Updates in the same week. I think making that much money at once looks really good on their fiscal quarterly earnings. There is a chance both updates are scheduled to release around the same time.

None of this is actually leaking. Steamworks' developer database is open because Steam itself needs to get information from there for game licences, to know which branch you should be playing (whether "public" or a developer one if you have a code), and many many other things. Given that Steam's backends are fully documented for developers (along with the Source engine), someone created this database of info gathered from there.

 

As I said none of this is really leaking as this info only appears for released games, not future ones, unless a developer is stupid enough to name a new branch like LibertyCityForOnline or something. You can see when branches update and when devs do changes to certain things but you don't know what it is exactly until it actually releases to the public branch.

Yes, I can FT to my Shack or Camp but then I need to slog through the menus and then ride back to the FT point to travel back to where I was originally or ride back.

I don't want more useless properties that I visit for five seconds and then forget about until I get a pop up. I spent a fortune on the Moonshine Shack and I can't even f*cking use it, I can't even change my clothes. I don't want more useless NPC's that are just background noises. I haven't spoken to Maggie in months, the only reason I know she still exists is when she fails to load making my entire Moonshine business moot. I don't want more NPC's who twaddle on, repeating the same f*cking lines each time I go to sell my stock. I want that removed.

 

It's been over a year and I am still sleeping on rags in the middle of the woods like a tramp with a literal Hobo. I just want QoL improvements.

Why we can´t send telegrams to each other and have a random NPC to run up to us to deliver it is a good question.

I'm still boycotting Online until they give us news, this update could make or break Online. They really need SOMETHING that significantly changes the game like Heists or a proper Outlaw role that lets you do bad stuff without needless slaughtering NPCs

Odds are, we get PC patch later today, and hopefully an announcement for DLC they will drop next week.
 

As I mentioned there are some graphic issues when using Vulkan and especially DX12 for me anyway... and they need to be resolved before the DLC drops to get PC players back this week to get ready for next week!

 

Or we get nothing at all.....

I think this could be the week we finally hear something. Lots of QABeta updates so something is definitely happening. BUT I'm not going to expect something so I won't be disappointed when we don't hear anything.

I am certain that R* is saving the update/info for the Xbox event. Reveal the Update during the event and then release it the next day/the Tuesday after.

I wish someone would make R* see that they are killing any goodwill this game still has. It was never going to be as big as GTAO but the players are loyal and they seem to be doing their upmost to kill the game.

Came here to check what was up with no expectations and I'm still disappointed.

 

This is p*ss poor, all of us who are still logging on, even just for dailies, are mugging ourselves off.

 

This game is dead until R* either give us some news or release an update, and even then, what we get might not be enough to jump start real interest in RDO.
