Genuine question that. I do agree with you that, for better or worse, this game will get content this year. But if it was the same person/team that once said GTA V's story was to be updated, that would answer the question of weather they can spin a yarn. 🤣

 

GTAV Story DLC was mentioned in Rockstar Newswire Q&A in 2014 in one paragraph.

We know we didn't get it. But we also know the story behind it.

 

Specifically saying in an investor call that content updates are coming this year is something else, even if you made a mistake in the past.

Things can always change of course, there is always a chance because something happens, but it's 99% likely we get content this year.

 

But the sentiment that the CEO lies because he is a corporste greedy CEO is just naive (I know you didn't say that). I said multiple times R* communication and RDO support in 2020 has been sh*t, but this doesn't mean we don't get updates this year.

This, and also, all those daily qabeta3 updates for both GTAO and RDO. They are definetly in development of something and it would be weird to hold onto that for a year.

It became illegal to do this stuff during lockdown in some cases, or just extremely bad practice in others. Rockstar like many companies weren't putting the lives of their staff at risk for a game either.

 

Studios shut down completely. Any work that could be done at home continued to be worked on but anything that isn't possible to work on at home was put on hold until work at the studio could resume. It's as simple as that.

Fair play, I honestly didn't know where it was said regarding that story DLC so had to check.

 

That said, I don't trust CEO's to not lie or stretch the truth, lol. But again, I do agree something will come this year. I still firmly believe both this and GTA will get a summer and Christmas DLC.

 

They may be a little late due to current events of course, and I can see RDRO get some more in between the summer and Xmas content, but that more depends on the knock on effect from any potential delays etc.

 

We'll see, I just hope it's the one to really see this game really step up and become what it long should be by now. ✌🤠

If you think about it how much mocap do they really need for a big update? If you look at frontier pursuits that had 3 cutscenes in total (not counting legendary bounties). Not every big update needs a story with cutscenes.

R* did mocap in a secret bunker. And Dan Houser didn't leave, he is still pulling the strings. It's like celebrities faking death.

 

At least this is what I heard from my sources.

RDR2 uses motion capturing for everything to my knowledge, not just cutscenes.

Some of the answers I get by citing the T2 CEO are so predictable and too easy.

When he says there will be RDO content update this year, there will be.

Someone please proof when T2 CEO lied about content updates. He doesn't even benefit from it if it turns out to be wrong, and the investors wouldn't trust him anymore.

when strauss said he and sam were tied to the hip, implying they're so close, really he LIED since sam is "stuck" with him. strauss is full of sh*t and he lies several times a day

It's a pretty honest question, there's a reason animal complaints have died down considerably.

 

Unless you are making claims without having a scoobydoo about the current state of the game, I am honestly curious if people are still having issues with animal spawns, how bad, what platform etc. They've been fine for me on PS4 for probably at least one or two months now.

Its somewhat spotty, but better than before personally for me. People are out hunting again on some lobbies and then animals go extinct again. I was able to do one trip and fill my trader material bar half way. When I went back out and searched the map for more it was like the map went back to animals being extinct. So it will be lively with animals one minute and then empty the next minute. This is on the account of a 20+ people lobby on PS4. If after my 1st trip of hunting for Trader I do something else(Bounty Hunting, etc.). Then the animals will come back.

I've got to a 13 day daily streak and largely they're ok for me.

 

There's the odd occasion I'll go look for an alligator on my way to a butcher to sell my bits and there is no gators. But I think that's because I arrive to the area too quickly as when I stop to fish, grab a collectible or just hang around for 5 minutes or so, they start popping up again. 

 

For me, the most notable issues are camp not spawning in (only seen it once on the map in those 13 days), or the woman in the moonshine shack disappears and I need to ride a good way away from it and return for her to spawn in. Sometimes it can either take a couple of minutes to enter the moonshine shack, and twice I haven't been able to enter at all. But I only use that shack for easy dailies like dancing, so no real biggie for me but can see how those would frustrate players using the business of course.

 

(PS4 too BTW, but unsure of lobby count as I give that no attention, lol). :)

Yea sounds like my experience with them too, I've seen a bunch of people hunting (note I don't exactly have long sessions so I don't run into many people) and I regularly see animals on my own as well. Gators, bucks and deers, etc, all spawning after not spawning for months.

Rockstar's only mocap studio is in Bethpage, NY. A mocap studio isn't just a warehouse full of extremely expensive equipment every single dev studio has available to them.

You all can call me dumb or naive but I honestly think mocap isn’t what’s holding them back. I’m pretty sure they have enough animations in the game and they are creative enough to make a big high quality update without cutscenes, they just have to get creative. I’m pretty sure that’s why the update isn’t out yet, the pandemic hit and they had to shift development where there were no cutscenes. They might’ve been halfway done the mocap and had to be stopped so they might’ve shelved that entire update and started a brand new one or shifted it fully. So it’s possible the next update might not have photographer or legendary animals and we end up getting those later in the year when they can finish the mocap. All I’m saying is they can release an update without mocap. You can make fun of me for thinking that idc.

When talking about an RDO update, a game which to my knowledge uses mocap for a lot of various animations outside of cutscenes, if not all of them, what you're saying is:

 

"They can release an update without new animations"

 

If said update involves new tools, equipment and who knows what else that requires brand new animations, no they can't. Factually speaking.

 

You could say well, why don't they some other stuff in the meantime and that is a very reasonable thing to say, like say adding some new basic co-op missions, or survivals, or maybe some new clothes or the next Outlaw Pass, that type of stuff where they don't need mocap or voice work to make it work. That would be what I would ask because it's a better option for the game than allowing it to just fester for months and months.

Thats my question. Adding just maybe a few survivals I could show out on would be fine enough for me until they get ready to release a major update. New clothes also wouldn't hurt. I think most people are looking for something along the lines of those(A bridge update). Basically an update to help you make it through to the next big thing.

Games been out a year and a half, they've yet to add co-op survival missions.

At first it felt like they were just putting things on hold for GTAO for the moment. Now its entirely feeling like they forgot about this game. To be honest the whole thing was kinda funky from the release of the online beta. I thought we were at least going to at least receive  half of the basics from GTAO when that first launched, but we received very little and that was ok with some of us Beta players as long as content was coming in a timely manner.

 

Honestly I thought Co-op Survival adds up in a game based on its theme about Outlaws and Western theme......more so than the theme of GTAO.....whatever that is. I mean elements of it happens, for instance the online mission "Bring a Goddamn Posse"  would be an example of co-op survival with waves.

Indeed, i only frame them for not having 80% of the work done by march ( 3 months after update) or by not just modified the coding and delivered what they got in parts, anything thats its not rolish locked.They could have given weapons, clothings and horses even, raise the clothing sets , let people play in solo sessions, or reduce the servers. that dindt needed mocap. That would have served ? For two weeks maybe, but it would have been a good gesture, a f*cking good gesture from their part. Not making people wait for what? 3 months more of what they deserved or should have ? Because this is coming july at least, no sooner than that. So yeah, if the update should have come in late april considering their usual fourish month schedule between updates, by march a huge part of work should have been done, clearly f*cking done.

you really think they call an actor or whoever 4x in a year so they can flip a pistol to the left in january, to the right in april, up in september and down in december?

no, they invite them and tell 'em they need this for now, and that for later.

I guess TT is holding that "update" back

I've been trying the tall trees spawns for cougars (The T in "Tall" Trees, the top right cabin at Bearclaw and at the Windmill SW of Blackwater) and cougars don't spawn in lobbies with more than 18 players on PC.

to a 17 player lobby where herds of animals vanish,

to anything over 20 players where its just useless to hunt any large game or predators, it seems to me like it really is a resource issue for the game and connection.

 

Animals have always spawned more frequently for me on PC overall compared to my experience on PS4 since launch but I think now whats happened is animals across the board have been thinned out entirely so they can just spawn in the first place.

I don't see the herds of deer in Little Creek and the massive groups of pronghorn in Rio Bravo like I used to. The months of June, July and August 2019 leading up to Frontier Pursuits I used those quite frequently as I ran the timers out on stranger missions.

That's all I did for hours every day. Cannot do it anymore though, unless that is of course I make a solo. But even the consistent PC solo method seems to have been messed with as you'll just end up disconnecting in 10-20 minutes.

 

This is the only multiplayer game where you get more out of it by playing alone. When solo, a player literally cannot participate in all the content that's there.

If you are cycling Trader and Moonshiner, while completing daily challenges and juggling collections during bounties, there is 0 time for any dynamic events. There really isn't time for all 4 current roles.

Unfortunately no one really gets that full experience because it doesn't exist in normal lobbies. So all there is is slaving away at roles with none of those enjoyable interruptions in between that can help pass the time and make your travels feel fresh.

 

I can't help but notice consistency and playability of this online decreases while lobby player count increases. Newer content has definitely made that apparent to me but even original content like hunting has never been the same since FP either. Its just how it is now I guess :/

Outlaw Pass III, Legendary Animals to hunt, new Bounties, Homes/Apartments, Survivals as you said, generic mission board, random hunting requests mailed to you, more clothing, weapons, add the ability to buy Stagecoaches etc etc. The list is endless of small stuff they could add that takes no motion capture or voice work.

 

They are doing it on purpose because for some reason they MUST stick to The Grand Design

It is a more lively world when everything works! I hope they fix it with the next dlc! Because if they don´t fix it now it will follow over to next generation of console and never get fixed!

ya know, I don’t want to set my sights too high for the next update(s). so I’m not gonna ask for anything like functional roles, non-cow clothes, or a conclusion to the RDO story missions. however, R*, please tweak the weather system for next-gen. tooooooo much rain and fog.

At least make it sunshine in some parts while it rains in others! And snow I want snow in the north not rain!
