Just give us the editor, which would be cool, and make the photography thing a small side objective. If they make it a full on role, like they did with the moonshine one, I feel that it would be a waste of resources that could have been utilized better in other areas of the game. Better yet fix the in game camera, to where we can emote the camera while taking a selfie and bring back all of the poses because for some reason mine are gone.

I hope moving forward there’s more content/events in the open world rather than locked away in instances.

 

I would also love community events where everyone works together for a greater goal. Imagine if the players could cut down trees at the lumber camp like in story mode and they had a goal for the amount of wood to be collected to help finish the railroad.

The game needs a rework in some of the old role events, some new freeroam role events maybe .... attached to the actual session (similar to random encounters), things that will make the players interact in a PVE or even PVP way to force them to explore or roam around, nowadays the fella with over 20k and over 160 gold bars are only loggin' to keep the streak, maybe some specific items/weapons behind this system like GTA's exclusive shirts and hats were behind freeroam battles to make the game more alive.

 

- Legendary Animals Hunt could work as a secondary event, aka new variation to complement Trade Route, like Manhunt/Day Of Reckoning or Condor Egg/Salvage.

- Legendary Fishes could work in a new freeroam event to complement the Fishing Challenges.

- They could take the Trade Route concept or even the Caravan Escort/Recovery mission and adapt as a Moonshine freeroam event. (Which would give ingredients to flavored moonshines).

- Even Legendary Bounties could work alongside random encounters.

- Proper Assaults or Robberies as mini-events or even random encounters.

 

Saw too many concepts and ideas to the point i don't fukin' know what R* will bring as new content or role.

 

A new role would be only a new way to make money (but would be big enough to make the experience last).

 

For me .... R* needs to make the game sessions more alive, a Freeroam Event update (focused and kept in the actual session) with exclusive rewards, items and weapons would work and be way better for RDR Online in the current state. (And would work way better than was executed in GTA Online).

Well, I should have expressed my point from the previous post, it was more about the unique connection between the two roles. Rockstar have talked about utilizing the Honor system for the lawman role and I assume it would be available for bounty hunters with high honor, obviously the same would apply to the outlaw role, thus both roles utilize the same system and Rockstar will have to figure out their way of adjusting the Honor system to work with said roles, so it's best to just add both roles at once and fix whatever bugs that appear. It would save them the trouble of dealing with possible bugs caused from adjusting the Honor system at a later point to add in a new role. Not only that, it allows Rockstar to make use Old Man Jones to let you switch easily between both roles, but if there's only one role that utilize one part of the Honor system, what would be the point of visiting Old Man Jones in the first place?

 

Furthermore, both roles could work in a way that prevent each other, the outlaw do some robberies while the lawman tries to stop the robbery, which makes it more dynamic. In a way, you could say the outlaw provides content for the lawman and vice versa.

This could provide an interesting concept for the lawman role where dynamic missions are caused by actual players, while the linear missions are triggered from Sheriff's Office which is all about dealing with NPC outlaws. Still, the outlaw role has enough ideas to stand on its legs as you said, but I feel like it's better to establish the basics and leave out some room space to expand the outlaw role later on, it kinda goes with their plans as well.

I don't see how it's a waste of resources, if the role were to feature legendary animals as rumored, it provides them an opportunity to add in talismans & trinkets and the trapper. Plus, if Rockstar were to go all-in into such role, then you should expect the same with future roles, right? Like you won't like it if the outlaw role ends up as a mixture of bad honor stranger missions.

Well, it is something they talked about like 8 months ago already, because people were asking for such a thing when the world map  was still relatively new and awesome. Now everybody knows it like the back of their hands and requesting for other stuff, Rockstar comes up with this role. Curious to see the "you asked, we listened" message on the newswire.

I have absolutely no understanding in the need of such role at all. It's not like you can't take photos in the game already. Even introducing legendary animals for the sake of taking pretty pictures, or collecting photos of all animals in the game and sell completed collections, is nothing I have any understanding for, nor do I see the fun in it. 

And if that would be the only thing they can come up with, after months and months exploiting their creativity and resources, it would be extra disappointing. Even though I don't give the RDO team any credit anymore, I do think they'll come up with a bit more than just this.

The role itself didn't really ruined it. The online map did.

Rockstar is in a weird position. On the one hand I hear people complaining that they have too much money, on the other hand I also hear people say that stuff is too expensive and you get paid too little.

 

I guess they found the right balance then lol

 

But seriously, why do you guys believe that the next update will only include the Photographer and that it will be a boring role? The fact is we know nothing about the role and thinking back to the photography missions with Mason in story mode, they were pretty good. They could add similar instanced missions like the Moonshiner story as well.

 

Also everything from the past points to a lot more content, Fun2 already outlined it. Dynamic events, Rockstar Editor, Legendary animals that could bring the trapper, trinkets and talismans with them. But also some form of updates to existing roles including maybe new collection gameplay, new moonshiner event and some upgrades for the camp and trader. Don't forget the ability cards, maybe even some stranger missions, maybe the end of the LeClerk Story, or the rumored second role, maybe even 3.

 

At this point I'd just wait for what R* has to say. Take a break and come back when there is something new.

Nah, the role broke the economy. The map made it easier sure, but anyone hitting Collector hard before that map even existed knew what was going to happen. If it wasn't the map, we'd get YouTube guides, forum guides, or whatever.

 

Outside guides don't break economies or games. The fact they haven't touched set prices and the Collector nerfs so far not really been that extensive makes me think it's very much intended. Collector doesn't earn much gold, and they've increased the amount of things that cost gold in every update.

I think a lot of players, who weren't interested in the collector's role in the first place, picked up on it because of the online map helping them grind money and XP fast. The map kinda broke the game in a certain way. You get few things, if nothing at all, to work towards fast.

If anything broke the economy, which wasn't the discussion in the first place, it's the daily challenges list's gold rewards.

If BH was the money maker, people would flock to that, same for Trader, Moonshiner, or whatever. People will always min/max, it's on the developers to balance it and they've not made any attempt to "fix" the core issue. They wouldn't have to have made any of the changes they've made to Collector if they went for payouts or the exp. The fact that they once upon a time went for hunting payouts and nerfed them but not Collector tells me that they don't really care. Again, they can put things behind gold bars instead as Collector doesn't make much if any gold.

 

As for the daily challenge rewards, the streaks rely on playing literally every day and as such it's most likely a niche section of the playerbase that has a 30+ day streak going on right now.

 

The hardcore playerbase will always be rich and always be in the "we've got nothing to buy" position outside of major updates, it's the same for any game. We're not the majority or anywhere close to the majority though.

Collector negates the need to do money glitches.  It is a grind to collect one set 13 spots in day, let alone go crawling round on the side of mountains hunting all 15 coins each day.  Moonshining makes more and its passive and way less effort in the end, than most single collections.  If you want to grind for money, there is no need to go find glitches.  If people do them in RDO after the collector, they honestly should have their account wiped.  GTAO has set this precedent.  

 

Dailies negate any of the few gold bar glitches.

 

Photography Role will be a nice addition.  I would actually prefer one role at a time,

Money has less value in this game than gold. If people would min/max always, like you state, it wouldn't be a niche section of players having a 30+ streak.

I wouldn't mind one role at a time if they had one role come out every month.  It's the massive droughts that cause the need for more content which once released causes a rush through all features before they get screwed over by extreme players.  For long term market presence, paced out smaller quality releases are better than big chunky ones that people binge then have nothing to do for months.

even 1 role in 2 months wouldn't be a real problem, IF these roles have depth. The current ones don't. The main incentive to do any of the roles is nothing more than to gain more monetary funds and gold bars. When one puts a bit of effort in these roles, they can max them out in a few days. Once maxed, they become a money grind really fast and have nothing else to offer.

Never said it was, hence my last sentence about hardcore players always being rich. It's typically not a good idea to balance the game around us because we min/max.
