People with loads of completed collections in their bags rank the OP within a day. The previous OPs ran for months, ranked to max in 2-3 days. They'll probably add more vouchers for useless crap. Face it, Rockstar isn't aiming at long term play with RDO. Most Day#1 players I know don't play anymore or just come in for flash visits to keep the streak going. The fact RDR2 has been on sale far more times than GTAV in its first year and RDR2 is playable from many many platforms, indicates that revenue from this game is made from the sales of RDR2 and not from MTXs from RDO.

I'd like to see sales figures from wholesalers/streaming services/distributors compared to sold copies to individual customers.

So true! I don't want it to take long to max out due to high exp requirements. I hope that they announce the dlc so I can sell my sets beforehand.

Its way too easy indeed. Rockstar I think has the most generous pass for that specific reason, but just like the roles, it can be maxed way too fast. It needs to be based on time played. (at least not XP earned) Even without cheesing the pass with collections, anyone with thumbs and a working brain can max out a role in 12 hours playtime and the pass in 20. That's insane.

It's hard to argue for new content to be harder to complete/unlock/progress through because people say they don't have the time to play, and I want to be respectful of that, but the only way a player can actually spread out the OP and a role over the whole wait for a new DLC is by literally avoiding playing the game. Otherwise its just maxed out - and fast.

The thing is, what can they actually add in these OPs to incentivize long term players to keep playing? Clothes? More horses? A new gun? Cards? Even if they add vehicles and housing as a reward, how long is it gonna keep players busy? Most items they released get old in a week. Taking pretty pictures with them only lasts that long and items being otherwise usefull in this game, I don’t know which ones those are. They’re all cosmetics of which novelty wears off quick.

Maybe reset the roles with each additional progression being a new tier? But what type of incentive could Rockstar offer for reaching ‘say for example’ tier 2 or tier 3 bounty hunter/collector/trader etc? Maybe a higher payout for role activities? But what’s the point in that? There isn’t much to purchase in RDO, and most long term players have more money and gold then they know what to do with.

The online is just too simple.

1. 12 minutes on missions for 32 gold nuggets (most gold in the shortest amount of time - best gold/time ratio)

2. jeanropke for collector (mad money and rank)

3. the 3 static tall trees cougar spawns for trader

4. always have moonshine producing

Congrats you win the game. Now just dump hundreds, more likely about 2000 hours of repeating those things and you can buy everything in the game full stop. down to every single color of every single piece of clothing.

I love the current gameplay loop but at the same time there's a certain complexity that's missing from it and I think that's really what turns people off too fast. But also that's from a grinders perspective as well. No matter the player, it seems like everyone just feels like there's something large missing from their experience.

True! Not only are horse races poorly designed where if you come in first you actually lose, because you rushed through it and didnt milk every second, but now its not even worth joining at all to compete because its just a bunch of people walking in circles. GG

I like the current system even with how simple it is, I won't mind making it a bit harder, but the worst case scenario is that we reach GTAO levels of grinding. Like it would take 10 full collection sets to even hit level 5 and you would have to put in crazy amounts of hours to reach the max level.

It won't take long before some of you complain the grind is too much.

RDO needs more things to purchase. I look at GTAO and all it’s activities and businesses available. There are so many things that players can purchase which offers new experiences. Players have incentive to keep playing and earning money. RDO on the other hand doesn’t offer much in terms of purchasables. Sure it’s got an abundance of clothing (which doesn’t offer any new experience, it’s simply cosmetic). Players can purchase horses which are practically all the same aside from speed, stamina, etc. (It’s no leap from GTAO’s vehicle to aircraft to boats). Horses are horses and our stable count is limited, but it’s not like it would make a difference. Even our role wagons could have offered more in terms of customization. Maybe allow players the ability to choose which horses we use to pull our wagons? Maybe choose a wheel type? Perhaps colours or business logo? Idk. Rockstar gave us zero options for wagon customizability which was odd compared to what they were able to do with GTA. Don’t get me wrong, I never want to see RDO venture in the same direction GTAO went with flying cars and jet packs lol. I want RDO to remain more down to earth and somewhat realistic to a Wild West setting.  I’m sure there is something that they could add to give players new experiences. But what?

I'm just worried that, regarding the outlaw passes, if R* see too many players saving multiple collections to sell upon the pass's release, they'll keep making it take more Xp per rank and increase the amount of ranks.

And with players boasting 500k etc here, that's another concern regarding the pricing R* uses too. I enjoy the game being pretty casual as it is for me currently on these things. Any more and it's just more things I could enjoy taken away from me.

Tbh, i‘m pretty much sure they‘ll release a wagon-centered dlc one day.

Ultimately that middle ground between super cheese and ridiculously hard would be very nice. I've been messing around with GTAO on PC and it is such a steep climb to get into the businesses. Its a bad feeling to see the work you need to put in with a fresh account, and it would be sad for new players to get that same impression with this RDO.

The void after level 100 can be worked on. The constant chase after more items to spend the money/gold one earns just isn't holding up for most right now. Unless seeing numbers increase is your thing (like it is mine) I can see how it make a player feel totally out of the running if there is a lack of alternatives to turn to.

The collector role is breaking the economy although its not too late with a few simple fixes.

  • Reduce collector maps costs by 50-75%
    • You are guaranteed to find missing items in a set when using map
    • You can store enough maps to complete a whole set
    • Keep the same 3 spots to locate treasure
    • Activate up to 3 different collector sets at atime
  • Instead of daily cycles its every 3,5,7 days depending on set, and 100% random, RIP Jeanropke map.
    • No nerf in cash or exp

Im very surprised Rockstar hasnt made collector spawns 100% random. With each item having 7 unique spawns (the 7 days) you can still reference them all with jeanropke but you'd have to potentially visit every single location to get a set which isn't efficient at all. I was shocked they just added more cycles that they knew would be tracked by the end of the week

R* should make it so that the XP you get from selling collector sets doesn't go into the Outlaw Pass.

Then they should add another 20 levels, so 120. Then they should increase the XP for each level to 1500. And increase the price to 50 Gold.

They obviously need to include worthwhile rewards in the pass, less coupons and more items. And make it so that you actually get +10 Gold profit out of it, not just getting the 50 back.

Problem solved imo. Still enough time if they pass is on offer for 3 months. Don't forget everyone gets the Wheeler Rawson pass for free and can level it up to rank 120 without paying 50 Gold, they get some rewards on their road and when they decide to buy it, they get everything.

Then after you reach level 120, they should introduce infinite levels. So after you level up after 1500XP you get 0.1 Gold. So with that XP has at least some use for high ranking players and they can level it up infinitely. After level 240 in the OP you get 0.2 Gold per level.

The ability to purchase books (like in SP).

These books can be purchased or found in free roam missions (scavenger hunt). And will unlock, special features (advanced crafting, horse trading, weapon customization, exclusive items from SP and loads of easter eggs from the Red Dead universe).

Some "master class" books are only available to higher levels. Penny Dreadful's are locked to honor/dishonor - with mini missions attached.

I don't know what Rockstar think when they see more and more players getting richer and how they're gonna balance the economy for the next update.

The curious thing is, i see a lot of new players in freeroam (lvl 5 to 30), and Rockstar being Rockstar, they're gonna find a way to lure new player into buying goldbars. But what about the longtime players ? We're all so rich, that even if we stop playing for 2 years, we will still be able to buy everything added, if we get a lot of new content of course. They can't just make everything very expensive to take the money of grinders, that could only lead to making new players go away. But if they go the other way, new players could be more easily attracted. But in both cases, veteran players will always have it good.

Actually, the current system was a bit hard at the beginning, a pseudorandom number generator that generate a pattern that can last for several months or years, it could go on and on for a hella lot of time, until it reach a certain point and restart the cycle.

In other words, it would have been hard to figure out the pattern as we would have to rely on players reporting which cycle is currently active for each collection set.

Fortunately, the developers behind jeanropke's map managed to figure it out, but you can bet that Rockstar will make this even harder with the next update, one thing that makes this process a bit easy is that everyone gets the same cycles, so even with all the changes, we would figure it out in the end.

However, if Rockstar changes it to an individual based cycle, then that's when the community map truly dies. Even the players who would try to help by notifying us of the cycles won't help because each one has his/her cycle.

I think there's only so far they'll go in nerfing Collector, because I don't think they want to make it impossible for someone playing "normally", not using the map, to complete collections. Some level of player coordination and information sharing is good; it means people are involved and care.

They might instead change it so not every collectible appears every cycle, making it take several days to finish each collection. They could limit the rate at which we can sell collections, to perhaps one of each per day. Or they could limit us to carrying one of each item instead of ten, making it impossible to hoard. I don't know what they'll do, but I don't think they'll go so far as to randomize every item. There's no gold at stake, so it's not something they'll want to spend a lot of dev time on at the expense of new content.

Not gonna happen. Rockstar caters to new or fairly fresh players and those get scared off by too expensive and too intensive grinds. Everything has to be accessible for everyone and especially for new players, so they can hype up their non RDO friends to buy the game too. Just in case you haven't noticed yet (I know you did, but the phrase has a certain flow), RDO has never rewarded the long term player. Why start now?

What if collectables only spawn for players who purchased a map from Madam Nazar? That way nothing gets nerfed, and the community map becomes obsolete. Nobody buys those maps from her because of the community map, not to mention the maps only provide a 3 item locations. Rockstar could make it to where items only spawn for players who purchased maps, but also increase what a single purchased map offers.
