To the people still on a daily streak I’d advise you to deliberately sabotage it to spare yourself a reason to keep logging on to this game lol. GTAO always going to be there priority.

In the last six months, I have had three resets (two were on R* and one was on Sony).

I would bullsh*t myself, with each reset. "It's no big deal - so what."

Let me tell you something, I have a visceral reaction when seeing that .20 gold reward. Brings out my inner Khan.

Khan Noonien Singh:
"He tasks me. He tasks me, and I shall have him. I'll chase him round the Moons of Nibia and round the Antares Maelstrom and round Perdition's flames before I give him up!  Prepare to alter course."

Announcement coming soon...

https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/61525/Daily-Challenge-Bonus-5-Gold-Bar-Gift-Double-XP-and-More

It's up!

"All players can enjoy a little extra pocket change this week for playing Red Dead Online. Play any time before April 14th to get 5 Gold Bars"

Rockstar really wants to boost their player numbers before the fiscal year ends for Take Two on April 14th, it seems.

I'm talking pre-launch hype, none of us knew at the time it'd make mad money. That wasn't known until a few days after it came out.

We can make a lot of money thanks to the collector map site

without the site I doubt anyone would be able to complete a set .

Buying Madam Nazar's maps was the worst way to play it anyway lol. You found far more collectables going from hotspot to hotspot (towns, PoI's etc).

If they nerfed the map to make it useless they simply have to revert the metal detector change and increase the amount of digspots again. The map didn't make Collector go from sh*t money to mad money it made it go from mad money to batsh*t crazy money.

Rockstar nerfing the map for money reasons wouldn't make any sense at all either. It's not like you suddenly get super powers like you did in GTA by being able to buy expensive vehicles and orbital canon shots. Money is Red Dead beyond $30,000 does not give you an advantage over other players. It's not like they even make you spend money for roles and you need gold for that.

I was doing it without the map. I was making insane money before the map existed. In fact it was so good I was hesitant to talk about it on the forum because I wanted to take advantage of it before it got nerfed.

Even if you don't complete sets and sell the items individually to Madam Nazar the money/hour was far above anything in the game at that time.

The downside to Collector is that it does not make gold.

Rockstar dropped the newswire but they didn't mention anything regarding the next major update

Man i'm starting to lose hope on this game.

There's something weird about today's newswire, the folder where the event pics are located is called "showdown2".

When Rockstar announced the new variations of select Showdown modes, the pics were placed in "showdown" folder. Maybe they were tired of placing event pics and new stuff like showdowns in separate folders that they decided to combine them up?

New variations of showdown modes in the way? or were Rockstar planning to announce some new variations but decided to come up with this event instead?

If that is the case we might actually see an announcement very soon.

If the first is the case, well, we are in for another month of waiting.

Nope, Rockstar does have a clear roadmap, they plan one year ahead, but the thing is that Rockstar takes secrecy very seriously so we the players don't have a single idea of what they are planning until they announce it a week before release. At least that's when we get to see what Rockstar were planning all those months.

All of this is to allow them to gain flexibility in the development process which refers to constant changes in their plans.

Given that the last outlaw pass expired more than a month ago, it is clear that any 12 month plan has gone awry.

Thanks. I like the sound of all that, though I'm not sure it'll really get everyone talking about the game again in a big way. I feel like they could do with something big to jumpstart it.

Should be enough for me though. The editor - I need that.

Rockstar have never been good with dates, plus they don't have to follow the same set of rules typical battle royale games follow which is introducing a new season right after the current one expires.

I was more referring to their plans of future roles and which one should they release first. Like I said, they take secrecy very seriously, so when talking about new roles, or their actual plans for the future, they won't straight forward confirm to us when it's coming or if it's something to look forward to in the near future, they will be like "yeah, we might do this, we might do that and we would think of that too".

You already see this in the interviews where they talked about the future of Red Dead Online, one moment they say "we are really excited to introduce properties in the future" and the next moment a new property is added with the Moonshine update. One moment they say "we might do photography" and now it's rumored to be the very next role.

It's safe to say most if not all the things they talked about are already established as future content updates, but they never tell us "when" so what sounds as new roles to look forward to in the far future, ends up as recently finished roles that are coming sooner than you think.

Not saying that they have broken any promises to the player base - but come on - it’s obvious that they have fallen off their own schedule.

I think they're terrified of something fans have hated them for in the past which is saying or showing something that is then later changed. Their reaction to any sort of criticism tends to be to close the shutters and isolate themselves from their community. I understand it to a point but it's also the reason for their poor relationship with their community as they've made zero attempt to improve it in years.

The only time they've actually opened up is during the crunch controversy with RDR2 in 2018 and that was likely cause the person who caused it was Dan Houser who wanted to excuse him self from the criticism to some degree.

Exactly. That's why I believe 2 roles will be added as part of the new update. One collector expansion and one bounty hunter expansion. The first one being the photographer, the second one being ... (an outlaw? lawman?).

I believe, and I know this is bold, they will announce it this Thursday/Friday and release it next tuesday, April 14.

If not, then I just wait. But sometimes this month for sure. Internally the update was probably originally slated for April 7, but got delayed because of the restructuring.

Wished they would upgrade the Bounty Hunter, this was the role that I was excited about and hoped for when online dropped. An outlaw role would be great.

I make about 1.5 gold every day doing collector dailies.

Any idea why the secrecy? Its always baffled me. Even if they use it for room to change plans, and not be beholden to what they said, what's wrong with telling us "after all what we had planned can't work for x reason, and we would prefer to go this route instead". We see companies do this a lot. Bethesda with creation club have done this. They tell us what is possible, what is not, what they want to do, what they changed their minds on. They even give us progress reports on upcoming content. Why is R* so adverse to this more transparent approach when we've seen that keeping customers informed fosters a better community?

I think it had more to do with the fact that they were right about to release a new game, always right before Launch or during marketing of their new titles, they give numerous interviews, and insights into the company.

I am pretty sure Jennifer Kolbe is mainly responsible for covering that PR blunder up, and she did pretty well doing that, the reaction was swift, and open, way better than Naughty Dog handled it lately.

She has also been at the company for years, sort of as Sam Housers right hand I believe, I am surprised so few people know her, compared to Dan, Sam and Leslie, I would argue she plays just as much a part in keeping Rockstar running as those three do.

I would say their update was originally scheduled for right after the Outlaw pass in March, and the Showdown Modes were sort of a buffer.

They probably had to delay it for numerous reasons, bugs, issues with working from home, eventhough there are reports that work from home seems to work pretty fluid for Rockstar as of now, and maybe the Update just wasn't good enough yet.

I would rather they delay the Update than Crunch to get it done or rush it out the door, I better hope that delay also means that it introduces a substantial amount of content and fixes main issues with the game.

It has many reasons and it is enshrined in their DNA, they have always done it, mainly because it works for them.

They do hint at things they want to do in the future, if you read the numerous Red Dead Online Interviews, as to give an idea on what they have planned, but a lot of it comes down to last minute decision making to react to analytics as good as possible and keep as many options open as possible.

For example they were able to take GTA Story Mode DLC and turn it into a substantial Online Update because they hadn't "officially" announced it previously.

Also the one time they did announce something in advance, with the Heists Update for GTA Online, it backfired, and they had to delay it multiple times(which can happen), the sh*tstorm was immense, I don't know if you were around at the time, but that really didn't work out, so I can see why they refrain from pre-developmental announcements.

If they would have given us a road map, a time schedule, it would be constantly overhauled, changed, pushed back, and really, would cause more harm than anything else.

That is because Rockstars approach to game development is way less structured, than say Ubisofts, because the nature of their games varies so immensely.

When Ubisoft gives schedules for introducing new Operators in Rainbow Six Siege, they know exactly how long it will take, because introducing Operators isn't really something "game-changing" to implement, it isn't anything they cannot plan in advance.

With Rockstar, each new Update might be different, introducing a new Role, might sound good on paper, but in reality it doesn't check out, or conflicts with other mechanics, causes too many bugs, hence they will have to re-do it and so on.

I guess from their point of view its a matter of "don't fix what ain't broken". If only they would look at how other companies handled communication and weighed the option of doing things differently...

I edited my post to include more explanation, it basically comes down to Rockstars developmental style being very different, than say, Ubisofts.

Ubisoft knows exactly how long it will take to introduce new Operators in Rainbow Six Siege for example.

But making new Roles for Red Dead Online is not as "structured", and hence cannot be accurately predicted and fit within a schedule.

If they made a schedule, it would cause more harm.

If Rockstar has proven anything, it`s that community engagement means next to nothing for large game companies.

They continue to have massive success in every category by sticking to their vision and not listening to whiny no life grinders who will never truly be satisfied.

Remember, It was just a few months ago they were thanking us for all the money that RDO has made.

They do open up more around release time but after that crunch article came out they definitely opened up. Devs were on a tight leash on social media but if memory serves they received an email allowing them to share their experiences with the company and even now it doesn't seem like they re-tightened the leash as devs interact a lot more with their community on social media (in particular Twitter) now. They obviously don't talk about what they're working on but after the crunch drama it went from absolutely nothing to something and it's stayed that way.
