The roles we would likely get in the near future are the ones Rockstar talked about in their interview.

Outlaws, photographers, lawmen and bank heists. I think a rancher role is gonna be planned for the far future.

Yes

In the second image, it list 8 legendary animals located but there are supposed to be 10 legendary animals, just like legendary bounties.

I'm assuming the photographer role will be similar to the bounty hunter, you can look for animals around you and the payout would depend on the animal quality, or you could go after legendary animals for a higher payout.

Hoping an expansion would follow, allowing us to hunt said legendary animals as part of the Trapper being added. A man can dream..

It makes me happy seeing so much content being developed that was strictly fan feedback. The Moonshiner role, the Husky dog for camp, Arthur Morgan and John Marston Story mode outfits in online are all things players were very vocal about seeing added and now we can add legendary animals to the list.

Those items were some of the largest requests from fans and Rockstar has been quite swift implementing them into the game.

 

I noticed a "shooting range" was mentioned in that second screenshot, I wonder if that could be the communal space Rockstar mentioned in their interview with Polygon.

Here's the thing with game files, don't believe everything you see.

Some of the scripts you have seen in that pic are possibly debug scripts that Rockstar were using for testing, they would make a small script that would create what looks like a shooting range to test out a bunch of weapons.

GTA 5’s rerelease was because it was launched less than 3 months before the 360/PS3 systems were replaced, and they needed an excuse to homogenise the content between the console and PC versions. Redemption 2 already has a PC version that’s 99% the same as the console versions, and it launched years before the XBone and PS4 replacements were due. It’s not a comparable situation, there’s little chance for a next gen release. It took them over a year to bring GTA 5 to current gen, after all. They were trying to recapture market share they felt they had lost by launching on old consoles right when new consoles were about to launch. Redemption 2, going on sales years before Series X and PS5, doesn’t have that problem. Everyone that wanted to buy it pretty much already has, very few people are sitting on the sidelines waiting for a ‘next gen release’ like what happened with GTA 5.

Yes, my prediction is that there will be a free enhancement patch for Xbox Series X and PS5. Just like Cyberpunk 2077 already announed using Smart Delivery. It's similar to free patches for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Expect 60 fps and PC-level settings that rival a 2080 Ti.

 

There is no way they will sell RDR2 for 60$ again on the new consoles. Like the previous post already said, it is a very different situation now compared to 2013/14.

 

First of all both console will feature backwards compatibility and in terms of basic architecture both generations are the same. Since PC version is already out and not that different from the consoles versions, especially on the highest settings compared to One X. And many other 3rd party publishers will deliver free patches as well or already said the game will work day one on the new console (Ubisoft, CD Projekt, etc....).

I disagree Take Two is one of the most greedy triple-A publishers out there right after EA they don't care about there customers at all, only their bottom line so if they can sell the game again for full price they will, make no mistake about that. All you have to do is look at there 2K sports titles and you can see that, in those games they have added unskippable commercials and an actual slot machine loot box system driven by real world money so I would not hold my breath on getting a free upgrade when you buy your next console. Plus gold sales are not bringing in what GTAO shark cards are so they are going to want to make up the difference for porting it to the new systems or they could go the other way and never release a version for the new systems.  CD Project Red does care about their customers so that is why they they wont try and sell Cyberpunk 2077 again so they can keep their customers happy.

It will be hard to sell enhanced or remastered versions of games next-gen due to backwards compatibility. It's easy to say Take-Two/EA/whoever are greedy as f*ck and praise CDPR but CDPR have a penchant for getting ez free PR for stuff other studios are doing as well. I fully expect that most, if not all, cross-gen games will get free next-gen patches. I think there's a chance a few studios may try to sell a next-gen only version but if that's the case the PR backlash will be so bad they'll cave. Plus, lots of these studios won't want to lose their userbase overnight which is what will happen for a lot of these games if they charge for next-gen versions.

 

As for the next RDO update... Trapper + Photographer + ??? maybe then?

 

Would be interesting to see if they could synergies Trapper and Photographer, if those are two of the rules. If there's a third role it really needs to be an outlaw role though. Moonshiners was outlawish but if 1 out of the (hopefully) 7 roles is outlaw, something aint right.

it's easy to say that T2 and EA are greedy cause they don't try and hide it. 

 

As for the trapper and photographer roles not all that excited about them (if that is what the next update is) unless the reason they are putting them out is because they where easier to do cause they where working more on bug fixes then content which would be cool if that is the case but if not then WHERE THE HELL IS MY OUTLAW ROLE getting tired of killing random NPC's on the road for .30 cents and a gold tooth, crime needs to start paying in these here parts.

If character transfers aren't a thing I might end up walking away from RDO. 

 

I don't think it will be an issue for players going from PS4 to PS5 or from Xbox 1 to Series X due to backwards compatibility and what I now consider to be the unlikely event of R* releasing a next gen only version of RDR2.

 

But, I'm not going to allow one game to dictate my jump to next gen. As a PS4 player who, so far, is leaning towards Series X, if I can't transfer what will be a 2 year old account across platforms, I won't be starting again.

No player transfer and no invite lobbies have robbed R* of another $110 AUD from me, as I would have got the game on PC.

 

Also, photographer sounds... amusing for a short time. But as a FULL role... Will it entertain most people enough? I have doubts.

I pre ordered on PC, for me it was worth it for how SP looks, but I refused to start over in RDO on PC and I'll refuse to start over on next gen consoles.

 

I can already play SP on ultra settings on PC, so I'm not buying a new copy on next gen, and if I can't transfer PS4>Series X, which will probably be my next gen console of choice, then that's the end of the road.

 

RDO isn't that good of a game to allow it to dictate which console I purchase next.

 

As for the photographer role, it'll take something enjoyable and make it mundane. Go to a specific spot, take a photograph of a specific thing in a specific way, rinse and repeat.

I’ll be curious to see if they put some effort to make this photographer role not so... repetive. Well I’m already going around taking photos when I see something I like, without any official (R* role) porpose and I still find it more enjoyable than other activicties.
