And was thinking about last update we got was like just one roll... So I hope we get more content like finishing off our story and maybe get a new story for our character....

If you want to address the issues above, you would have to limit your card, to only nullify certain cards, but at this point, don't you think it's easier for them to just introduce new lobbies where all passive cards are disabled and "A Moment to Recuperate" is the only Dead Eye card available for usage? Or to just nerf certain cards instead of introducing a whole new card that nullify them.

Additionally, your card would become the new meta, almost everyone will use it across all modes, making all other cards useless, I get that's the point of your card, but it would waste all the money players spent on ability cards and no one would invest in new ability cards that Rockstar may introduce in future updates. They might not even bother with coming up with new ability cards, I hardly think Rockstar would do this considering they have a ton of new ability cards planned.

I feel like your idea would make matters worse for Rockstar than have them address all issues with ability cards by simply introducing a new card.

Who said anything about monetizing it?  Clearly a card like this wouldn’t have a ranking because it’s all or nothing.  Just give it out, it would especially fair to new players to have it in their back pocket to use.  To put it this way - if you need ability cards as a rank 100+ to defeat someone who is rank 18, you deserve to be wrecked by them consistently.  You’re already monetizing imbalance, so make balance between two players be a non-cost.

 

Abuse it?  People abuse the cards now.  How would it be abused?  If abuse is your concern, then eliminate the source of the abuse: ability cards.  What are you afraid of?  “OH NO THAT PLAYER IS SIMPLY BETTER AT SHOOTING AND TACTICS THAN ME!”  Yeh, clearly that would be abuse that someone is simply better than you without having to rely on a set crutches... errr excuse me...ability cards
 

I already explained the question with a  two (or more) opponent solution, go back and read it.

 

It’s not a waste of money to other players who want to use cards, because it’s not meta either, it’s nullifying.  You’re either good at the mechanics of the game or you’re not (or some varying degree in between).  Cards are meant to amplify your play style, not define it.  And there is NOTHING stopping you from playing as if you have no cards when you need to adapt to a style that your cards don’t benefit.  
 

As for making matters worse - well, that maybe so.  But that is on Rockstar to do it properly, which I understand your point more fully if that’s the case because they have failed to prove their competency in that regard.  
 

The idea is sound and it’s on Rockstar to implement good ideas and fix bugs.  Trusting them to do it though?  That’s another bag.

It doesn’t counter all other cards, it nullifies them between two people (and ONLY when engaged with a YB user, no one else).

 

To counter would give you an advantage and flip the situation.  This merely is making the field even on both sides.  If you cannot fathom doing that, then I don’t know what else to tell you.

Rockstar just announced they're allowing working remotely for the first time ever.

 

I wonder if that's why they gave us a month long bonus week? Having a whole development team working from home is probably much less productive and less likely to work overtime

Yes, that's what countering does, it nullifies the thing you're countering. This card nullifies all other cards, it counters them. Good balancing has lots of options and lots of ways to counter those options. Bad balancing has something so strong it counters/nullifies everything else. That's the literal definition of overpowered in a video game sense.

 

Once again you're getting hung up on the idea on the idea of it making a one vs one situation in PvP even footed. That's not how it works, you balance cards against other cards, if your balancing is "this card makes X card literally not work", then the entire system might as well be thrown out, which I wouldn't be against. But as a solution to ability cards? It would them even worse.

 

This isn't even getting into the the whole how this would actually play out for the player on the receiving end of the card, things suddenly not working as you expect is one of the most jarring things in video games, your stuff (especially if it's stuff you invested in) suddenly not working has never been fun. If you get killed your question should be "well how could I have done this better or different". In a game that is all about pure shooting, get good is a fine answer, if it's a game where there's abilities that dictate your style of play, like RDO, then your answer should be yes of course get better at shooting but also "okay how can I add a way to counter that into my build". The "if you can't beat them join them" answer is not one that's good for the games long term health.

 

To put it simply, your idea is to give you a mechanic that allows to rid your self of ability cards for you and everyone you fight. What you actually want is for ability cards not to be a thing. That's fine, like I said, I'd be for it (if replaced with a better system to still allow things like better dual wielding etc), but there's no need to invent some ridiculously over powered card into existence as an alternative because it wouldn't actually fix the bloody problem which is that ability cards suck. I mean, your answer to Fun saying it would be abused is "well so what, X is abused now". The entire reason players want ability cards to be fixed is so they're not abused, this wouldn't fix that.

 

If you cannot fathom that, then I don't know what else to tell you. 😉

There are core systems and mechanics that Rockstar can't simply ignore, ability cards have a set of rules, 3 tiers and each upgrade cost you money, you are asking Rockstar to put in some extra effort to adjust the system behind the ability cards to allow them to add a card that won't have tiers nor would it cost you anything.

Why should Rockstar go through all that effort when it's easier to simply remove ability cards or introduce new lobbies where said cards don't work?

Regarding "abusing your card", let me say it again, a player would use your card to nullify other cards when he's the one getting shot, only to get rid of your card when he's the one shooting. Keep in mind, we are on the same page, we both hate ability cards, but it seems like you got heated over there thinking I'm someone who's disagreeing with you because I like ability cards when in reality I'm simply against your idea because it looks to me like you're complicating this whole card idea when easier ways are available that achieve the same result.

At first, what you suggested was a new ability card which think of it as a new car, I thought "cool a new car", so it's gonna work like any other car but different in certain aspects like how fast it can go and other stuff, but now you are suggesting that your ability card is uniquely different than any other ability card, it's like saying your new car can fly, go underwater and probably time travel. It's not that simple, I once again ask you why would Rockstar make a special case for your ability card? It's probably gonna cost them a lot of time to even get it to work, to apply special logic where the game would be like "oh it's that yellow belly card, let's just skip the price and all tiers and simply offer the player the card" when Rockstar can simply take the effects of your card and apply it to a new free roam mode, rather than complicating it and coming up with yellow belly and all that.

Rockstar confirmed they are sticking to their weekly Red Dead Online schedule. 

 

I wonder if that means we'll be getting a newswire today? Usually we'd have it by now.

I'm honestly so confused what is going on this week lol.

 

Rockstar shared a new newswire for Showdown mode updates - but didn't even mention any of the new discounts etc this week.

 

They also deleted last week's update, and made a new one removing the April 6th details and updated them with what looks to be a 2 week long bonus week? Still no mention of the new discounts this week - it looks like quite a few horses are on sale. 🤷‍♀️

Yes. They forgot to mention the double Gold and XP on Showdown modes as well as discounts on horses and trader items.

Rockstar pushing qabeta updates on Saturday, I guess they can utilize weekends with the new "work from home" policy?

Anyway, more updates to qabeta2 which seem to indicate a new patch is coming in the way.

EDIT: To give more context, I'm pretty sure the actual work was done in the last few days, but today is when they finished that sort of work and pushed it for testing.

Developers don't push every new change, they simply make a list of changes and push them in one build. It's like that builds.xml from GTAV, where every build list the new fixes/changes and the existing bugs that are yet to be fixed.
