DentureDynamite
Has anyone actually traveled to the small islands offshore (west) of Lemoyne? I'm just curious if it's possible to make it there before your horse (or you) run out of stamina and die, and if there are any lootable items or animals worth hunting there? It seems a waste if there's nothing of value on those locations--they seem like a nice place to go to get away from players, if nothing else? TheAnkou
There's Crabs and Green Iguanas that spawn there, the ones that are near Clemens Point. You can make it there as long as your horse has 5/8 or higher max stamina I believe. Assblaster, chef_archie and DentureDynamite

4eyedcoupe
Before going to the island tell your horse to flee, swim out to the island and call your horse and he will magically be on the island with you. Other than crabs and iguanas there isn't much there but you will need them both to help complete the "kill 100 different types of animals) award. wehweh01, DentureDynamite, ThaBirdCoot and 1 other

DentureDynamite
If someone doesn't already know and "ninja" me, I'll find out and let you know. I would hope the effort just getting to/from the islands would make them a little bit more valuable? I have to say I love having animals in RDO--adds a lot more variety and sheer game play fun (hunting, getting attacked/rammed, riding horses, etc.) Edited January 15, 2019 by DentureDynamite TheAnkou, Red Lynx 23 and Amy Vinewood
1898
There's also pretty good fishing, some 3 star raccoons and an occasional "feather" bird among other things. Well worth the visit, I've made some decent money there, especially on the horseshoe shaped island with the boat wreck. Something else worth mentioning - griefers can't mess with or snipe you, especially if you stay on the West side. ThaBirdCoot
There are many herbs there as well, burdock root, bulrush and berries if you wanna craft some stuff for ya horse. Also lots of spots with smallmouth bass, water snakes and tropical birds fly above quite often too, pelican feathers are always worth going for. Thoroughly enjoyed my time on those islands last night--peaceful, quiet, no-one but you hunting as much as you like! Wild Mint is also found all over the place--one-stop stock up if you need that one. I didn't see any crabs on any of the four islands (have they been removed?), but a perfect Green Iguana skin sells for $1.15, along with its usual meat, etc. As @1898 noted, plenty of bird hunting--you can just wait for them to fly overhead, and pick them off; just be sure you try and nail them as they pass over the island itself. A fair number of raccoons, muskrats, plus the usual toads, water snakes, turtles and fish--some nice Steelhead Trout by the beached ship on the large "U"-shaped island. Why there was zero loot on the islands though (esp. the ship wreck!) is beyond me; Rockstar really needs to leave something lootable for players who take the time and effort to go there... Definitely one of my favorite spots in the map, along with The Loft. DentureDynamite
^^ Seems like I remember someone saying that NPCs on boats spawn offshore of Braithwaite Manor? ...but not at night; I swam to the south-most island late at night, and the only NPCs around the shore were the occasional husband and wife sharing a romantic moment on the beach. In any case, it doesn't take long (1-2 minutes if that) to swim to any of the islands with max health and stamina. In hindsight, I'd swim to the north-most island (since it's the closest to the mainland) and island-hop the other three from there. Swim out and take one of them. Not sure of locations. Seen them spawn a few places. Seems to be random. You just need to keep an eye out for them. Never tried but someone said if you purposely fail one of the mission where you return the boat, you can keep it. Like I said, not sure if it works. I've never failed either of them. areyouchappin
@DentureDynamite@Deadman2112 I've ran the entire shoreline from Annesburg down to Saint Denis, then over to Braithwaite Manor, then up and around Flat Iron Lake to Blackwater and finally down to Thieves Landing and then went all the back to Annesburg again.. I did this twice last night, and just now did it another three times, collecting and selling feathers, pelts, and herbs along the way. I haven't seen one rowboat or canoe anywhere. Before Gun Rush was added, the few times I did get a boat(by shooting an NPC out in the water and then swimming to the said boat), I tried rowing out to The Grand Korigan and Sisika Penitentiary but ended up getting warped back to shore before I could reach them. Early in week one of the Beta, I found a canoe just sitting by the Dakota River near Valentine so I went down the river as far as I could go and it was pretty damn fun.. I could see that being a type of race in the future lol getting back up some of the rapids can be really hard or impossible though depending on the river or area. DentureDynamite
^^ Here's hoping that boats are only temporarily offline so they can be updated to allow fishing--and I hope a fix allowing players to pick up birds and snakes while swimming is also en route. It's really frustrating to down a perfect Roseate Spoonbill in water just a few feet too deep for your character to stand and pick it up... ...especially with limited time before it sinks--we all know our characters are so inept that they can't swim below water. *facepalms* I'm hoping other content that appears to be offline (like crabs and the geysers at Cotorra Springs) will soon be restored. 1898
I swam out to one of those small steamboats off the coast Annesburg (or was it VH). I jumped in, they dude in the boat jumped out, terrified for some reason. I was able to pilot the boat under power for about 25 yards then it sunk. DentureDynamite
Oh yeah--not a lot of money for those Green Iguanas, but they're still fun to hunt (pays for our camp always getting moved without our permission). One of these days I want to get to Guarma so I can hunt those parrots and just look around the area... but I'd be surprised if Rockstar hasn't patched that already, seeing as one major YT'r showed everyone how to do it. Did you immediately lose all stamina when you started swimming? If so, you crossed the water boundary. Aha; so the boundary isn't just around the penitentiary; it's the effective "water boundary" around the whole RDO map. I should have figured that out, but now I know for sure. lol Edited January 16, 2019 by DentureDynamite

I glitched out and found that out the hard way. So even if you can make it across, you won't be able to go far. 3 minutes ago, 1898 said: I took my horse about half way, jumped off and swam the rest.
