arvboy Posted January 7, 2019 Share Posted January 7, 2019 Hello pardners, I have been doing many free roam stuff and still on Part 2 and pretty much ransacking the homesteads and ranches.. ended up ransacking the Downes Ranch and getting cigarette cards. Has anyone had any experience if it affects the outcome? I read somewhere that you have the opportunity to go to this ranch regarding debts and disease. I think Mr. Downes spawns there just for that mission, I have just finished that mission and I will ride back and see if he still is there, if not and if there is just a random rancher there now I would believe you are good. Edit. Just checked, Mr. Downes and his family is not there now, just a random rancher, so you should be good, but maybe you could start using the lasso and hogtie them instead of killing them? I couldn't, I started the help Mary mission, but Strauss came over and asked me to go to Mr. Downes, so all other missions disappeared and the game told me to go and see Mr. Downes. I had 3 missions available, Strauss mission, Mary mission and the Javier Escuella mission, but the game forced me to do the Strauss mission. But that was not what the OP was asking, he asked if killing the rancher there before the Strauss mission would mess up the Strauss mission. Nutduster Posted January 7, 2019 Share Posted January 7, 2019 (edited) It's a mandatory story mission, they won't let you miss it. That's either a random farmhand, or Downes will respawn (they do that with a lot of the NPCs - imagine my surprise running into the Sheriff of Valentine just days after I shot him in the face!
