Can we make clear who got it in Chap2 and who got it in Chap3?
Also tell the context and if possible the time of day.

This could help in creating a reliable spawn.

Watched a YouTube video made by someone who goes by the name of SuperAntonio yesterday. He managed to get it to trigger in 1.15 at the very start of Chapter 2. I'm having no such luck thus far but I'm gonna keep going.

Is this a reliable spawn/trigger?

I’m currently walking around camp on the morning of day 1 in the second chapter. According to the YouTube comments in the video I’ve watched this is the most reliable way to get it to appear.. I might play on though and try your method.

I'm currently holding off starting a new game until Xbox gets that pc content drop, but when I do I'm going to try both these instances.  I would say you should create a hard-save where you're at before moving on to try the Sean trigger though, just in case.

I managed to get this on Day 1 of Chapter 2 in the end, mate.

I followed a YouTube video uploaded by Superantonio and it worked for me eventually.

All I did was leave camp once or twice and return pretty much immediately, after a couple of reloads Pearson got into position. It’s important to remember that you SHOULD NOT start any missions or advance the timeline in any way. I think it eventually triggered around 12pm on Day 1. Any later than that and I’d advise reloading until it triggers. Like I said, took me a little while but I got there eventually. 😄

Sorry to bump this old thread..    But happened to discover this item request and considering I love Scout Jackets I want to get this unique color for the jacket.     Been searching various places the past 2-3 days but haven't really found an answer so is this item only available to obtain during Chapter 2??

I'm currently in Chapter 3 on my 2nd play-through and have tried to trigger it with Pearson going up to talk to him when he's chopping up veggies for the stew.   But I just get regular dialog.      I've tried with health core completely depleted to zero and also just red but not completely depleted.    I'm getting the feeling as a few people have mentioned it's either broken for the later chapters or some of the guides are just wrong.

I'd hate to roll back to a Chapter 2 save honestly I'm not sure how far back of saves I have available (at work right now).    I spent almost 3 weeks in Chapter 2 doing all kinds of stuff like getting all the camp upgrades, killing all the Legendary animals, etc...

I was reading the official guide the other day, I'm sure this item request is missing from it.

I spent an eternity trying to get that jacket. It is only available from Chapter 2 and during specific times at camp. You should be underweight as well so that Pearson comments on Arthur looking "a little peaky"

It's an absolute pain in the ass to trigger. Try going through all the gamefaqs forums. I think it was around 10:30am I got it to trigger.

Damn yah I'll need to decide if I want to basically throw away hours of gameplay to get a jacket..     I'll need to check my saves to see if I can get back to Ch. 2 without losing much.

Yeah, depends how OCD you are. I have had to go back to previous saves several times because I don't like to complete each one of my master saves knowing I missed things and COULD HAVE done them or still could.

But if it helps, you will blast through things way quicker once you've done them before.

Yah just looked it up I'm 8 story missions into Chapter 3, last story mission I finished was Horse Flesh for Dinner.     Also did some Stranger Missions and just some general exploring/hunting since starting Chapter 3.      I'll have to just load up an older save in Chapter 2 and see if I can trigger it easily.   If not I'm not going to waste my time on it especially as this doesn't count toward the 100% completion which is ultimately my goal with my 2nd play-through.

I play one 1.00 and it is very difficult to trigger. Took me a week or two to figure out Pearson's daily routine, as the quest only triggers when he's standing behind the prep table at around 10:30am.

I think somewhere in the patches though they might have made it easier to trigger but I wouldnt know. 100% is easy, but the real challenge lies in getting all the extra bits and pieces like this, the letters and documents, all the rare/unique collectibles and finishing the compendium.

Yah I have this on PC I don't think it's possible to play the 'unpatched' version.    Not to mention the release version on PC had so many game breaking bugs I wouldn't want to play that version.     Anyway I checked my saved games and my oldest save is from the first mission in Chapter 3, so I can't go back to Chapter 2 without restarting the entire game again.     That's not worth it to me for a single jacket.      haha

Day one on Chapter 2 is without a doubt the most reliable way to trigger this item request. Don’t do any missions, leave camp once or twice (briefly) and return. After a couple of reloads it should become available. Anytime between 10:30-12:40 in my experience. I’ve triggered it at least 3 times using this method. Some attempts took longer than others though, seems to come down to luck as to how long it would take.

I recently learned that Arthur has to be underweight to trigger the request ...

In my current playthrough, I triggered it after Spines of America, while also having completed all other possible requests up until that point.

EDIT: I was underweight, and it was around 10:30.

This is a pain. I've got Arthur underweight now. Aparently that helps. Still cant trigger it. Really want to double denim up as well. According to a YouTube comment, health has to be in red, is this accurate?

Don't think so.

My cores were definitely not red.

...although, I guess they could have been low, but honestly I don't think this or the players weight/health status matters.

I just kept leaving and then returning to Camp until I saw Mr. Pearson in the right location.

Then I would approach and engage him in conversation.

The majority of the time when I would return to camp he would be in the right location, but he didn't mention the rabbit request.

After a few attempts it just triggered.

Cutter De Blanc

There's only about a 15 second window where Pearson is standing at his table drinking, and he'll give you the quest. I don't think there's any trick to it, just finding the small window of opportunity. I was trying to get it to trigger for about 40 minutes before I gave up and started screwing around. I came back awhile later,  saw Pearson walk over to his table and start drinking, went over and greeted him, got the quest from him, and then he wandered off after another couple of seconds. My weight was Average and my cores were full.

Got lucky and it happened the first time I caught him drinking in my new playthrough. He will stand behind the table where the beer crate is and be holding a bottle, greet him and he says Arthur is looking peaky. Chapter 2, 1.00. same as Cutter, all cores full, Average weight.

The first day of Chapter 2 is definitely (in my experience) the best way of triggering this request. Glad you got it man.

I did a half of the chapter 2 missions, a lot of donations to Pearson, trapper and camp. I upgraded the Pearson's stuff to max and thought I missed this challenge.
then I depleted all my cores (I was already underweight), got back into camp and I noticed I cannot antagonize Pearson, and when I greeted him, he gave me the challenge.
I gave him poor unskinned rabbit carcass and got the jacket.
the reason why people often trigger this at the beginning of chapter 2 is because of empty cores, or maybe just health core, I didn't check that..
I tried this also in chapter 4 and I lost antagonize option as well, but I didn't get the request.
