5+ years later, what's your verdict on the game?  For me it's a 8/10 overall. It has plenty of flaws (weak villians, Franklin is lame, dumbed down physics etc.) so it's not as good as GTA IV (which is 10/10 for me) but overall I still like to replay it again & it's overall a worthy addition to the franchise. The story is entertaining if messy and the open world is great to explore as well.

I would rate it 7.5 to be honest, but voted 7 (as that's what the poll allows). The story REALLY lets it down as well as some key mechanics that it either gimps or misses completely. Of course it has its positives like the customisation and the details, visuals, dialogue etc.

Like I've always said it's a good game, but not a great one.

The game would have a wide range of ratings if every aspect had its own rating. Of course, some of the ratings could go into an area that can be described as not worthy of being called GTA. The visuals are (leaning) at a peak but many people including myself could argue that this video game is more video and less game. Many things seem like they are immersive and alive until people play this game and see something either twice or just in more detail. All these countless factors have a complex and diverse influence on ratings.

I wold vote 8. I fully acknowledge it's flaws but I won't act like I didn't get a ton of enjoyment out of it.

Well the overall rating I measured after hours of analysis is 93/100 so I voted 9/10.

Ironically IV got the same 93/100 as well but lost points in completely different areas.

9.5/10 (the narrative could have been a bit more fleshed out & the physics were meh in places)

An absolute technical marvel & a wonderfully ambitious & charming game with such depth & a gorgeously crafted & atmospheric world & one of the most hilarious pointed & memorable scripts in video game history.

Played through it 5 times ironically enough & I have enjoyed it immensely each time.

I simply find it increidbly hard to actually enjoy myself, I was doing the mission where Franklin breaks into Michaels house, I steal a coach with people in it on the way, I get a wanted level but the police never see me, but when I get to Michaels house SUDDENLY I've failed the mission because "The police were alerted" Despite only having a flashing 1 star, the missions are for the most part too linear.

Only got as far as Diamond Store before I stopped playing then restarted after a year, that heist was increidbly lack-luster, The Gunman dies if he's poor skill.. from driving, which isn't a gunman skill which is unfair to put it mildly.

Combat's a complete bust compared to 4, the AI has super-aim and reactions while you now have an incredibly low health bar, Cops can rush you with shotguns and hit you under a second after turning a corner because giving the AI wall-hacks is a fun and fair experience.

Humor never really made me laugh.

Wanted System isnt' fun, Kill a single Cop and NOOSE armed up better than the Army show up, they respawn constantly and Police helicopters can teleport into existance if you start to lose the cops to catch you in the desert.

Game world is less alive, Cops don't Arrest NPCs, Paramedics wont' heal you and the actual map itself feels like a generic too large open world map without that much detail.

Bit of doubt between a 7 and 8. To begin with, beautiful graphics and physics. The storyline is all right, the missions are plenty, fun and action packed. Shoot-outs are also really entertaining. The map is an improvement over Liberty City for me, but it would've been even better if the northern area also had at least 1 urbanized city for variety. But there's much more to do in free-roam than in GTA IV.

The main characters are OK but I feel there was too much focus on the humour, would've liked it more if there was more seriousness (such as with Michael's crappy sitcom family, you can't really feel for the character if they're lacking of any personality) and I hope the next GTA will be more like that. It was a bit disappointing that the business system doesn't really play a role in the storyline and do very little even after buying (could've let this out in this state) because that would've been a cool story tie-in like it is in Vice City. The businesses lacking an interior is also quite lame. Would've like the stealth function being more useful too. The police is also a bit annoying and the system could've used some more creativity.

6. As I said before, it's an amazing game, only if it wasn't preceded by a bunch of other, better GTAs.

7. Didn't finish storyline but watched some missions on yt, and it doesn't appeal to me much. Other than Lamar, characters aren't memorable to me. Nevertheless, i believe i'm willing to sacrifice myself and finish the story despite disliking it as there's a lot more to enjoy. Unless i'm roleplaying a hitman or destroying Pigalles, i usually avoid police and i'm somewhat good at losing them. All armour feels the same, whether it's superlight or super heavy, so i usually pick up any armour i find and don't have to buy it as i managed to memorize at least one location. I understand why many ppl dont like having all weapons in same class but i didn't have much problems with it as most feel the same and i don't really do shootouts. Well i also didn't have too much problems with npc reactions as i mostly talk to women avoiding possible random antagonizing of any male ped. And i also find it hilarious how despite getting wanted stars for almost anything, cops don't care if i hold an rpg several feet or meters away from them while they still can see me, and i stand like 5 minutes and i'm astonished and rofling at the same time how they just dgaf! When i do random events and you have to retrieve stolen money i always keep it unless there's a bigger payout if i return, however that never happened so i always kept robbed money. And even tho it's hard to get money i just don't feel like playing with stock exchange, it just seems kinda tricky. I don't use cheats. I could go on but i don't feel like it...

Physics - mostly good

Graphics and models - well i noticed some objects that usually have circles irl, in-game where there's supposed to be circle there's dodecagons or at best icosagons but i assume that's a ps3/x360 leftover

Gameplay - pretty good

Side missions and activities - not bad

AI - meh

Map - good altho it becomes boring

Vehicles - best variety altho some cars like Pigalle just spawn too often

Weapons - pretty good

6. Because most of the other GTA's were better.  The story weren't good IMO,  not enough interiors for my liking on the map.  Lack of criminal side activities to do on the game.

It has it's flaws like any game but it's the best GTA yet imo.

I enjoyed the story and characters. The story has just the right lenght and is pretty fast paced. Antagonists were pretty lame (as main antags at least), some missed opportunities here and there (Madrazo should've been the main baddie, make Johnny K an actual minor antagonist for Trevor, more missions involving TPI). It has some really great missions too (riding on a train with a motorbike, shoving a cropduster into a Titan midflight, the Jewelry Store heist, The Paleto Heist, The Big One taking the loud approach, the final mission is pretty alright too). Missions are really varied in general.

Cops are overall an improvement too, although they can be pretty relentless with pin point accuracy. There's room for improvement but I'll take em over the easy cops from IV and the BS 5-6 star cops from the ps2 games.

The map is pretty good, with plenty of straight roads to quickly travel through the city and the whole map. The lack of interiors doesn't really bother me. The map is really detailed as it is. The forest and desert areas are too small and lame, sadly.

Shooting is okay, it's certainly better than other GTAs (the shooting was never really great in any game).

Really like Michael and Trevor, although they should tone down the bitching a bit.

So yeah that's about it. There's probably more to say but eh I've already said enough.

The cops in V are easier to escape than the ones in IV imo.

I've bn hooked on GTA since R* released the very 1st GTA bk on the original Playstation. Its the only game my PS1, PS2, PS3 & PS4 console has ever seen besides Red Dead & Madden Football & a 6 month streak of Spec Ops but I always return to GTA...the GOAT

I rate it as a 7. After awhile it just seemed lackluster. It's not to say I don't enjoy it either. More along the lines of good but not great. Also IMO, the cops in IV are way better and easily escapable. Drive out of a circle and they disappear. Easy peasy.

Yeah, I'm on this too. Although I will go with a 7. I enjoyed V's first person for a while after it just got boring for me in some ways and seeing as I couldn't really drive for sh*t while on that mode, lol. So I just sticked with the original third person view. Same with RDR2 don't use first person as much. Lack of any SP expansion still botherd me aswell since at the time I was reallly looking foward to it.

Because IV's cops were actually cops who did their duty and arrest any NPC who commited any crimes and not yell DICKHEAD!! then procced to blast them right away. And of course IV had proper car chases which would get heated up by the time you reached a 4 four star wanted level with Noose and FIB agents on your case. Sh*t would already heat up once you get an instant 2 star just by standing next to paranoid ass pedestrains in V  :p

9/10

Aside from San Andreas this is the perfect gta title for me.It does have its  flaws but the good part outweighs the negatives.

Overall its a huge improvement over its predecessor for me.

6.5/10

I really enjoyed game when it was released back in 2013, but after so many hours various issues came up that casted shadow to overall experience.

In hindsight I think multiple protagonists weren's so great idea. Would have preferred one strong character instead, story felt rushed and inconclusive.
Also GTA V had multiple gameplay issues such as flawed wanted system or downright bizarre design decisions when compared to IV.
While world was interesting to explore the map layout felt strange and many areas were severely underdeveloped. Game score was great, but radio stations were all over the place and lot of songs did not seem to fit well.

For me GTA V was one of the weakest mainline entries and lack of post release single-player support was nail to the coffin.
I can only hope that next entry will redeem itself and lean towards quality rather than quantity. RDR2 proved that R* can still deliver great story driven games.

9. Yes, it is flawed in may ways. The environment etc. isn't as immersive as in GTA IV, the story is somewhat weak-ish - but again, did any 3D era game have a good story? Some things were dumbed down. On the other hand, the city is great, bright and colorful, and there's a huge countryside to fly around; I love the concept of there being 3 characters; the score is good (radio less so, but I didn't like GTA IV radio much as well). There's a lot to do, I mean, A LOT to do. Also, there is Online; and it's good in a lot of ways and bad in a lot of ways; I don't think I should go into details about that here.

My verdict: a flawed masterpiece.

I would say 9.5/10. It loses a half point for me because Rockstar didn't offer DLC for SP, because of their new freemium thuggery and attempts to bully people to go online (where they would hopefully spend money on Shark Cards) by only offering GTAO content.

7/10 too scripted. Tried to save Michaels boat in that one mission when it is driving on the highway, so I cleverly take an overpass to avoid gunfire to my engine, bullet clips through the ground and kills my engine, and also kills my opinion of the game.

This is why I've had to give it a 5/10. I mean GTA has always been like that, but it's gotten worse as the series progressed. The values this series were founded upon were inexcusably compromised with this entry. "Open ended mission structure - complete jobs the way YOU want to." and "Rockstar--Putting the joy back into joy riding!" are two old ones that Rockstar forgot with this entry.

2/10 for the vanilla game. Not that fun.

11/10 for the game with mods installed. So much fun to be had.

I've not played it much in fairness.  For me I've gone 5/10.  Personally I see it as a step up from IV, I just felt that was a massive step backwards from GTA:SA.  But it's all personal opinion, everyone's got one.

I just feel going "Next Gen" it lost it's edge, hopefully by the time VI rolls around I'll be voting back up in the 7/8/9 outta 10 range.

All of em. PSYCHE! I'm using one of the many trainers available, hilariously bad traffic, realistic explosions, a euphoria physics mod, and some other stuff I can't remember right now.

For my it feels unfinished, with some dlcs it could have been more complete, especially with secondary jobs and things to do in this empty map, but instead they decided to cut all sp dlcs and make it into the online, wrong decision
