There is so much potential, it's just whether they will bother to implement it.

Survival mode would be awesome, Creator mode is much needed, and we know the devs had a contact mission creator in GTA, just never let us use it. Editor mode would be useful. The Trapper from single player and all the many clothes he sells should be added ASAP into online. Many more story missions need adding. The ability to choose which PVP mode to play, not just a Showdown playlist of random game types is essential. Much work to be done.

EDIT - AND FOR GODS SAKE FIX THE DISCONNECTION ERROR THAT HAPPENS EVERY 20 FREAKING MINUTES!

I still enjoy hunting and solo activities, but lock on aiming has made the rest of the game pointless to me. PvP is just lame and boring. LT, flick stick, RT, die/kill - over and over and over. No cool moments where you hide behind cover with bullets going everywhere, no cool moments where you run and dodge bullets diving behind cover. PvP in the current for is as boring as a mobile game. Great for 10 minutes now and then for a couple of weeks, but that’s it.

The world of RDO is a bit empty, content-wise. I'm spending more time looking for fun people to play with these days rather than looking for content to grind at. Luckily there's all you folks :) Anything is really just what you decide to make of it anyhow.

Timely whining for updates is all I see. Nobody cared for updates when GTA:O was released. There's no upcoming events and how many developers actually release monthly updates for their games? You must be a thinking of them do, cause they simply don't. RDRO is still in development and phase and it might just take a lot more time to hear from R* regarding any new changes or additions.

This would be a halfway valid argument if there weren't only 3 activities to do in the game. Really, name another activity besides hunting, racing and PvP... pro tip, fishing is included in hunting ;)

Where are the missions and minigames, gambling, heck you can't even go to shows at theaters, how hard could that be to bring over from SP? I mean, even basic sh*t like fishing from boats and being able to cook and eat fish are not available for some reason. Either they're dumb, lazy, or put RDO out WAAAAAY before it was close to ready..

Because GTA:O released with:

-20+ Contact missions

-30+ Races

-Survival modes

-TDM/DM/GTA Race

-Properties

-Tennis

-Golf

-Arm Wrestling

-Darts

-Tonnes of purchasable cars, aircraft, boats - each felt unique and different. Not just the same thing with a different colour/livery

-Simeon Missions to find and sell specific cars in free roam

-Bounty system

-Invite/Solo/Crew lobbies

-Robbing stores

-Gang hideouts

-Armoured trucks

-Unique Car Repo

-Quick/user waypoint races

and RDRO has 2/3 of heck all. Not even private lobbies or a system to address griefing. The only patches R* have rolled out addressed people making more than $1-2 a minute.

Thank you for posting this. People keep saying on Youtube and these threads that GTA:O released with little to no content and was bare bones, but everything in that list was there on launch. The problem was that GTA:O was unplayable for a while due to unstable servers and people not being able to get past the Lamar Race at the start.

While I agree with everything you said, here's a tip for cooking fish. Took me forever to find, but in your satchel you can go to one of the tabs where you will find your fish you caught, you can press a button to "disassemble them", which will transform them into cook-able fish meat of varying kinds.

Oops, looks like ViciousSpirit beat me to it :)

At this point of the day (its 9am EST here, updates would drop at 5am-ish), I don't think there is any form of title update for today.

soooooooo sooooooooo sooooooo bored.  Its forcing me to go back to my toddler days when you had to make playing with a stick interesting and it has about the same result, after about 20-30 minutes its simply time to move on to something else.

I'm a little bored myself, actually. Log on, go hunting in Bluewater Marsh (I rather hunt all over for the sake of diversity but my friends go to Bluewater Marsh only because that's where the money is), be friendly to strangers but get shot in the face while waving at them -> *sigh* here we go again on a revenge killfest, chase people around while killing them mercilessly until they quit the session, do a few Stranger missions which pose no challenge whatsoever... Same with the Story missions, I don't even bother with them. Go fishing, go hunting... Try a Showdown series with my Posse but we all get thrown into different teams with a bunch of strangers (or me and a stranger alone in one team and some team has five players in it - "yay!") so don't see much point in doing that either...

There needs to be deeper gameplay in free roam. Being a bounty hunter, being a train/bank robber, roles for us to get into to make the game feel more alive.

I'm on for 1-2 hrs everyday, but I just got God of War on the sale and right now I'm much more drawn to that. I log on mainly to chat with my buddies and kill randoms who try and kill us.

I switched back to Single Player for the first time last night. I really wish I could just ride to each gang hideout and do it like in RDR1. The gang hideout spawns are a mystery to me in RDO. I go to the locations, but the hideouts don't spawn so I can only do them when I randomly bump in to them. Only done 35 in about 140 hours of play time (mostly free roam) in RDO.

All of this wouldn't be a problem, if the secret society over at R* HQ would step down from their gigantic tower of arrogance, and actually talk to their customers.

Release one newswire post per week, that talks about the state of the game and their plans for the future, and people wouldn't be so mad.

Yeah. I get them after being recently attacked on the road by Road Bandits. Only done maybe about 10-12 of em my whole time online. Some pop up with no gang members inside.

yeah, they are on a timer of some sort, most seem to spawn near dusk it seems. I saw a guide the other day concerning this with some times that they spawn, ill try to find it  for you.

I’m not sure this would be a good solution for them or for us. Making promises about what to fix or plans for the future will have the playerbase in fits if those promises aren’t kept.

In my opinion they could well stay quiet, as long as they have big plans and are really trying their best to realize those plans. Give us roles to play, emergent gameplay that’s not just ”start mission/end of mission here’s your pay now go do the next one”. So much could be done in terms of playing as bounty hunter/bank or train robber, playing low or high honor with exclusive gameplay for each, gambling, etc etc etc.

I really don’t like a world of this scale and diversity to be limited to a 30 player free-for-all deathmatch (with hunting and fishing). The Stranger missions are good in my opinion but they should be longer and more difficult with more enemies, and for the love of God R* OPEN UP INTERIORS AND LET US DO MORE MISSIONS INSIDE THEM.

Really glad to hear that most people feel the same way as me about this game - just not enough content and boredom kicks in very quickly after an hour or two. The only motive I can find is to keep on leveling up and accumulating resources in the hope that Rockstar put serious effort into RDRO in the future. I think PvP showdown with forced auto-aim is one of the worst modes I've ever played, as Rockstar are pretty bad at 'adversary modes' anyway, but this time with no direction and no free-aim (tactics and stealth).

What also concerns me is the zero online stats on the RSC, which we had for GTA online from the beginning, irrespective of server issues, which suggests Rockstar are not that serious about RDRO. I hate to say it, but the time to put this game down in favour of other activities is long past.

Depends on the online game.  Also, we don't have Red Dead Online yet.

It's still Beta.  Just roaming around it seems like there is plenty of stuff that just isn't activated yet because it's not ready.

For me right now, I use it as my relaxation time.  Go fishing, do some small hunting.  Then when I'm ready to actually REALLY get into anything, I either go into some competitive modes or I fire up NBA Playgrounds 2 and ball some n00bs.

FWIW they did change the "Status Update" post to be above the GTA one that's been there since Christmas. Maybe that's a sign of news to come.

Its been the holidays here so many companies are on skeleton crews. Shoot we had 3 devs out of 20, 1 server guy out 10, no project managers or directors here the past 2 weeks.

My buddy in another gaming company everybody had the 2 weeks off.

Studios gets back rolling Monday usually.

Agreed. I’ve got a persistent posse, apparently our stats are supposed to save and carry over between sessions. But what stats? And where can I find them? And do they matter at all?

So much could be done, and I’m starting to realize that I had expected a LOT more from the start. After 8 years of development and 5 years of development alongside GTAO I’d have thought that they’d have come up with something new and entirely fresh. It feels too much like RDR2 had RDO slapped onto it at the very end of the production cycle. It’s not bad but it’s really not very good either, coming from one of the largest and most well-known game developers today. In short, I still enjoy it for what it is but it saddens me a little that they don’t have larger ambitions for this Online world. Still though; there are updates to come and I hope that things will change for the better.

Or, they could go the radical way and simply not make promises they can't keep while communicating with us, lol.

But yeah, agree with you and many here. So much potential, but a lesser game than GTA:O's initial content. Really is just a shame.

That's the only thing similar. I'm not comparing the stories, I'm comparing the gameplay. It feels the same, but it's entirely different. Red Dead has 200 different species of animals to GTA V's 32. They are different games. That said, GTA online was broken, when it first released. Everybody forgets that, because Rockstar fixed the bugs and delivered a great online experience months later. Red Dead Online will is on trajectory for the same thing.

It wasnt great months later lol

It took at least 2 year to get decent. Imo it didnt get great until heists and content adds after heists.

Heists came out in what 2015? Gtao launched 2013.

2 years before good content was added. The time spent by rockstar first year was stability, port to xboxone/pc  and fixing money glitches and hacker exploits.

Make no mistake gtao was not great at all after first few months the beach bum content was a joke of an early update. St. Valentines day massacre added like a new gun few cars a tiny bit new mission content. Most early updates were weak they mostly focused on fixing the glitches enabling guys like me who boosted to 120 in first 2 weeks gtao and stack millions of cash quick.

Look at gtao content it didnt get great until after they released shark cards.

Sad reality is if company has a choice between keeping 10k gamers playing their game that spend average 50 bucks a month on gtao or retain 100k gamers online but only 1k then feel need to spend on gold bars.

Company stance is everytime go with the $$.

Doesnt matter if they make 90k quit playing cause grind is too much for too little. They keep 10k who willing to pay to bypass grind. They choose the 10k paying base over the 100k non paying base.

And truth is easier the grind or less time consuming means less people buy shark cards. Which is why you will never see rockstar be for the players ever again because now it's just about the $$

Gtao great after months lol. Yeah like 20 months.

That's every company's stance in the history of companies. Companies don't have feelings. They don't make moral decisions. They are created to maximize profit and that is their only goal.

Naw the good ones just get gobbled up by the insideous ones eventually. Plenty of good gaming company's been bought out by the larger conglomerates such as EA. And Ea turns solid franchises to trash cash cows.

Witcher dlc a lot of it early was free. But that's a smaller company not yet sold out to maximize profit.
