TheSantader25
I bought the PS2 Classics GTA Trilogy(III, VC, SA) for the PS4 three years ago for 15$. One of the best purchases I've ever made. Now I can play the 3D era GTAs anytime I want. I have to find a more convenient way to play GTA IV easier as well. I still play it from time to time but my Old Xbox 360 seems to be dying slowly. Weird noises and errors happen sometimes. I'm afraid it's gonna stop working sometime soon. FadeAway
Played lll earlier and one of the trying things are the driving physics. Wowza. I forgot if they improved a little in San Andreas. I know there is a cheat to have better handling but it's not a huge bother as much just remembering how those physics were. Seems to also depend on the vehicle. They kind of mastered it as claude isn't a half measure like other characters like CJ where hes a ruthless killer but also sympathetic, characters like Tommy, Trevor, and Claude work better in rockstar's bile filled universe. Trevor aint as bad as claude sometimes, its amazing he aint killed michael after learning about real michael

Claude really has no humanity. I had a hard time picking a favorite rockstar game before Red Dead 2's campaign became likely my favorite game of all time. Outside of RDR2, I think gta 3 is my favorite and that's really saying something. You're pretty much all alone in GTA 3 and that loneliness sort of makes the city feel that much creepier, you'll be shot at constantly, the hobos in the tunnels, the eccentric pedestrians, etc. Love things like that. Something I always liked about the 3D era, and more specifically GTA III, is the fact that everyone is pretty much dumb or crazy except for the player and Lazlow. Just listening to pedestrians talking sh*t for instance makes you feel alone, there will always be one that will make you think "wtf is this guy saying?" like you're the only sane person in this mad city. It's unfortunate that as the series progresses Lazlow eventually grows into the degeneracy and doesn't exactly continue to stay being the sane guy we knew him as in GTA 3. That's how I feel riding the NYC subways or taking a stroll down 5th Avenue. I swear, the cell phone conversations in GTA IV make more sense than some of the sh*t I hear in real life. It shows you how brilliant the creative folks at Rockstar are. Algonquin Assassin, Legomanarthur, GTA_CAT and 1 other

It's interesting that you said that, because to me GTA 4/5 driving seems really dumbed down. All cars handle the same (unlike in GTA3, where Perennial and Yakuza Stinger handle very differently), and if you accidentally flip your car - hey, don't worry. Just steer left or right, and the car will magically flip back on its wheels. Sunglasses
GTA_CAT
Crap, the only TV where I could put my PS2 have died. In the other there's no space and my computer runs with Windows 95 so obviously I neither can install it there. If somebody has a spare TV plz send it to me (add exasperation laugh). I do like the added improvements (like being able to flip your car back on its wheels), it got very annoying driving say, a Landstalker in 3, and the car flipping over because I made the turn too hard... but maybe I'm just a masochist or something but I sort of like that added challenge of also having to watch over your car, and this aspect is really only present in 3. Only in this game will you be shot at in almost every neighborhood. Edited April 27, 2019 by LCLegend TheSantader25
DEALUX
I think the silent character thing is meant to be that way so that the player will identify with him. I feel like Claude is a bit of an awkward and anti-social dude kinda like a lot of gamers. The actual reason he doesn't talk is just R* being lazy I think. The silent protagonist is probably my favorite aspect of GTA 3. You could pretty much make Claude do whatever you want and play however you want. You could make him a psychopathic madman who will shoot anyone and everything in sight, or a silent, deadly assassin who can stalk the night... Other games added the ability to personalize their protagonist to several degrees, but it always felt weird playing as Vic Vance for instance, since I really didn't feel like I could go around and kill anybody I wanted because of how he acts in the story. I mean, of course I can do that but it just feels so off for Vic to be doing that in the game. Yinepi

Leone_Son
Gritty, foggy, and dark Liberty City of GTA III is the reason why I still love this game. Also ambients play at certain places and pedestrians sing songs like "She's on Fire" and "In the Navy" is a high point. LCS it was a cheap GTA and spin-off from GTA III for the PSP, but sales were too good so they then ported it to the PS2. VCS is another story, the game soundtrack was somewhat well made and expensive for it. Including a few impovements on the game as well, like the fightning system for example. Anyway, I have the same feeling as you.
Sunglasses
The Stories games are fine in my opinion. I need to replay LCS but I remember that game being my first GTA and I remember having a lot of fun with it. VCS is actually pretty good. While some features still needed some refining, it genuinely improved a lot of elements LCS had, VCS is a good game. Beato_dim

I don't really remembering VCS being all over the place but I'm glad the story at least went somewhere, it had a protagonist, antagonist, and you had a goal to accomplish throughout the game. Lance was sort of annoying though, yeah, but I feel like LCS had that problem too with its' returning characters. Donald Love, for instance, seems very, very young in LCS and it's almost hard to believe the dude matures (and fattens) in 2 years time.
