So I got the bug where my makeup reset (like it went to max opacity went it wasn't supposed to be). Is there a fix other than changing my appearance in the character creator. If I am forced to do that, can anyone vouch that it is safe to do so without messing my character's face like it was doing at one point a few months ago?

Sentinel Driver

You can fail on the hunt missions by ruining the animal's skin?

I killed an alligator with a dynamite and it failed the mission for me hahaha

I don't know how to fix makeup in a barber shop, which is why I never even tried to take any off my character, knowing that any reapplied makeup is going on at full opacity.

As to the Change Appearance thing the face warping seems fixed.

I am guilty of this. But in my defense, it's because of Gears of War and their insistence on reloading at just the right time or your gun jams. 😁

Guilty of that as well. Seems like an age thing, active reloads used to be a religion in GoW but now not so much.

If there's any slight pause in a gunfight I'm reloading every time just to keep topped up.

I hate getting caught with an empty weapon, it always seems to take forever to get it loaded up again.

That's why I can't go back to Revolvers anymore, I LOVE (in the game and in the real world) the look and mechanical side of Revolvers but the speed of reload for the Semi-Auto's is undeniable.I have tried to use Revolvers but the reload is just so slow.

Speaking of reloading, f*ck me the Semi-Autos eat ammo. I am using a hundred rounds of Express ammo per gunfight. I was thinking last night that I don't see where all my ammo is going and where do I keep all the ammo and then it hit me...I am technically feeding two guns and a hundred rounds is only six magazines per gun. You could fit six magazines in a coat pocket easily.

What I want to know is where you keep two hundred loose Revolver bullets.

200 rounds of express ammo is why I keep using revolvers.

If I'd be limited to 100 rounds I'd be constantly looking to resupply at a post office or the camp.

One roadblock eats 25-35 rounds.

A hideout can use up 50-75 or more if you're aim is off that day.

I have gone to using the Carcano as much as possible at the start of the fight before anyone gets too close, that eases the ammo crunch.

Don't forget split point. You can loot, regular bullets and craft new rounds. The last two Outlaw passes; I switched rounds to those. Crafting bullets, adds to the xp.

The reload speed balances it out. I just buy ammo each time I am in town.

That's...actually an interesting idea. Two hundred rounds of Split Point is a good amount.

I used to use those exclusively, but the tougher revenuers soak them up, and you're limited to 100 of them, so I got lazy and just go with express.

The Revenue Agents can go f*ck themselves. I have seen them take a shotgun slug to the chest from ten feet away and get back up for it.

Had a few like that. Last time, I got flustered and grab the wrong item. Thought it was, toxic moonshine, threw dynamite instead.

When the smoke cleared, one  agent was killed,  in the blast... by a traveling post.

I just end up burning them all. Its easier to just throw Molotov's and let the fire do the work.

Toxic shine works well.

I enjoy shooting them more, until they rapid fire obliterate me of course.

The thing is to not get too close, when they double up with shotgun and rifles you're screwed, so you have to pick a good spot and pot them from range.

Even spamming tonics you can't get in close, or you're toast.

They are allergic to tomahawks!

Sometimes it just fun to change cards and chuck tonics and go melee on them!

Just a question and please, forgive my ignorance if I am wrong but were Express/high-powered rounds illegal back then? Why are all other rounds on the shelves but we need to go into the catalogue/customise menu to buy Express? I like the tactile feeling of buying stuff of the shelves so it annoys me slightly that I need to go into a menu to buy my rounds.

I know one shop has them on the shelves and its not like they dont have room.

I'm by no means an expert, but I don't recall ever seeing mention that higher loaded rounds may have been restricted, and by this we're clearly talking about self contained metallic cartridges vs paper cartridges, of which there were a few varieties that included the ball as well as the powder charge.

It was more a safety concern that would limit the charge being fired, as the metallurgy of the time was still quite primitive, and weaker designs/materials (such as brass frames) couldn't handle repeated firing of overloaded powder charges.

Rifles tended to be better suited for higher velocity ammo, revolvers much less so.

It was quite a fascinating time in history, the development of firearms particularly was beginning to really make progress.

Outside of the game, express rounds had two characteristics: larger powder charge combined with a lighter bullet. The idea is to make the bullet go farther before gravity starts to pull it down off your aim point. Naturally, this is employed primarily in hunting.

I believe the in-game conceit for Express rounds are that they're hollowpoint rounds. You get that "lighter bullet" aspect with a hollowpoint, and this explains why you need them to craft explosive ammo as you're packing the hollow with an incendiary mix.

Thanks for the reply.

I find it fascinating as well, there are loads of historically accurate weapons that they can add to the game that would upset people. In 1899 it was not all just revolvers and rifles. Same as cars and motorcycles, historically they existed and functioned.

That was always my assumption as well.

Would this not be the HV rounds? Better range and penetration power?

A lighter bullet means wind resistance would slow the bullet at a greater rate the farther it travels and imparts less penetration at long ranges due to that lost energy. A High Velocity round would conceptually be a more massive projectile that keeps more of its energy at long range. Would explain the in-game mechanic of Express rounds offering high damage at shorter ranges while HV hits at full strength even after traveling long distances.

In America no, we can still buy countless varieties of ammo. Or, with the price of ammo being so freakin high these days we can save money by buying lead, brass, powder ( black or smokeless) and reloading equipment right off of the shelf.

But firecrackers and sparklers are illegal....

Same with us over here. You can buy machetes and full sized axes from gardening centres but you get I.D'ed to buy a steak knife.

That would really depend on the sound of the noise and when it starts. If it sounds like the system is running hard after playing RDR for a prolonged period of time it may just be the fan keeping the system cool, which is normal and if it is bothersome you can turn your system off and let it cool for an hour or so. Without specifications it is hard to diagnose what the problem may be though.

Is it a Pro? The PS4 is notorious for being loud as sh*t, even the "quieter" version is loud. The Pro even more so.

The latest Pro isn't loud compared to the others.  I have an original pro and it SCREAMS when I play RD or most any other game.  I got so tired of how loud it was, did some research and saw they released a third revision(coincidentally with the Red Dead bundle) that is MUCH quieter.  I ended up buying it and can confirm it is quiet. RDO can still make it run the fan constantly from time to time, but usually because I left the cabinet door closed not allowing any airflow.
