This evening I was grabbing the collectible in the chimney of the broken down house outside of Valentine when I noticed that the doors to the serial killer's lair from SP were open and I could go inside. Have they always been open and I'm just blind or is there a free roam mission that triggers it to be open?

The only mission that I know about that deals with that place is when you get the revolver from GTA online because that's where you find the gun downstairs in the lockbox.

Right, can someone explain how to use the online Collectors map?

I know the website and how to find stuff but how do you know what rotation the game is on for example? What route do people use?

Naughty me but I have been buying the maps which I find fun and I have more than enough money. I would like to have the map open on my phone and not have to go back to Nazar each time.

The different cycles are changing auto every day, so you get all the collectibles of that day on the map. You can select which particulair collectible you want to hide on the map. The map also gives a description of where you can find the collectible with most of the time a video with it. There is an option to create a route for you, but I just go and set waypoints for myself (you can set multiple permanent waypoints so you don't have to go back and forth to look on the map).

Also, the time counter in the upper left corner shows the time until cycles reset by default.

It can be used to show the current game time, % completed as you remove those collectibles you've picked off the map or the number picked out of 244 collectibles.

The little arrow icon to the left of the counter opens a menu to customize what is displayed on the map: you can add encounter locations, tree treasure map spots, treasure chest areas, etc.

You can select exactly what it is that is displayed in regard to which collectibles are shown on the map, either by set or by individual item if you're down to the last few of a set.

There is a huge amount of versatility built into the map, it takes a little time to set up, but can make your collecting more efficient, or just more enjoyable depending on exactly what you're after.

The door has always been open in RDO.

Imagine the shock of going in there looking for a collectible on day 1 of playing RDO, not having previously played single player!   😮

Oh, I ignore that rotation thing. I just go by what it is showing me on the map, since it only shows you the stuff currently up (if you refresh the page.)

I'm not even sure why that rotation info is included. I love how I can remove all, then have it only show flowers/arrowheads/heirlooms/madam, if that

is what I'm currently working on.

I mainly use it, on my Amazon fire 10 tablet (black friday sale, with RDO being my main reason for buying the fun thing)

while playing on my xbox one, for the last 3/whatever of a collection.

I did bother more when I was getting the "invisible" camp bug a lot; they seem to have fixed that quietly? It must have been on their end,

since I did not notice a patch or anything. I went from having the camp fade out, even when returning from just a resupply, nearly ALL THE TIME

to then having it never happen now. This is with the same crazy amounts of players (seen as high as TWENTY SIX, sometimes recently.)

Whoa, that I never noticed (either the route on that site, or being able to set multiple waypoints in game???)

Ah, at least on my tablet, I had to hit "generate route" several times for it to do it. Pretty nifty, since it also shows a dotted line with a fast travel point, as part of the route, if you do that.

Yes you can. On the map it is at the bottom of the settings on the left under 'Route Generator', though that only works if you have 2 or 3 collectible sets displayed, otherwise it is just a mess of lines. In game you can set multiple waypoints, on the PS4 it is R3 to set the waypoint, don't know on XBOX and PC.

To be clear, by day 1, I mean day 1 of PC release, forgot to add that detail, but still that was November, so it's been at least that long.

Hmm, I can only set one waypoint on Xbox one.

I found I can press down on left stick, on map, to set a MARKER. But I can only have one waypoint up at a time on Xbox One.

So I can look at a route, on my amazon fire 10, then set up markers for several collector items in game, then set up the new waypoint as I move along them (but the markers don't make a route, or anything.)

The one nice thing is, the markers save between me "getting disconnected due to a fault in the rockstar game servers."

Perhaps that is what you meant about doing it on the PS?

Yeah, nasty place indeed. Nothing worth lootable inside unless you need cigarettes and more Kentucky Bourbon.

Not useful as an escape from lawmen either; they can't kill you while you're inside, but they'll congregate outside and slowly "leak" inside via broken 3D geometry (even though you can't see them) and then they'll shoot at you from within when you get a certain distance from the entrance.

Don't ask me how I know this. lol

Pretty much me; I'd seen some of the gore from other players' YT vids, but it was a similar shock to when I played Mortal Kombat for the first time, and ended up in the spike floor... 8-O

I don't go in that dug out; it's just too creepy and sick...besides, I've since found a near perfect location for handling lawmen and griefing players. :)

Roughly, how much is one set of every Collector's item worth in total? Like if I collected every item of every set how much would I get for selling them all?

Excellent, sounds like a good nest egg to hold on to like my five million un-cashed Casino Chips in GTAO.

Thank you.

^^ When my interest in GTA Online finally kicked the bucket many months ago, I still had ~73 million in the bank.

I suspect the same kind of thing is happening right now in RDO; lots of cash and gold, with rapidly waning interest in playing a game drowning in its own misery.

Today, as it's my birthday and am not working (I never, ever, work on my birthday) I decided I would have an extended play session!  I ate 5 dry goods, gave Cripps 2 3 star pronghorns and 2 3 star whitetails, started a free supplies buy, and then - exhausted - I called it a day. :)

I had to make my own fun in RDO, I set a goal, which I completed last night, to collect one of every Collectors set. I tried doing Bounties but the timers, respawn locations, travelling across the map and payouts have killed that Role for me.

I found myself with 4-5 sets of each built up just from regular play (except eggs, which are a PITA), so decided t make it official and build it up to 8 each.

It leaves suitable room to collect for the dailies AND have spots left for looted items. I hate leaving anything behind (except flowers which are easy to get).

It only became a bit of a grind when I was finishing off the last of the eggs and some cards, plus the coin that is constantly glitched.

Now I sell the weekly set and replace those 3 items (because there is an achievement for it which will pay gold when it gets rolled over), collect for the daily requirements and usually whatever is close by anything I'm otherwise doing, and sell off the extras whenever Madam is convenient to get to.
