Same, if they went to all t5he trouble of adding different "warmth level" clothing the least they can do is give us a reason to wear the stuff.

Frankly, I'd not be much enthused to switch outfits every time I cross a state border. Especially with these short travels from state to state, or suffer from heat or cold.

I think warmth levels are fine as it is now. Weather conditions, though..... not so much.

But I doubt they'll ever redesign the weather dynamics, unless it causes severe lobby instabilities.

Probably wouldn't do anything anyway.

Look at animal spawns, literally all they have to do is lower the max players per lobby to 16 and everyone would have more animals than they could hunt, but no, because reasons.

Don't be silly, low animal spawns directly INCREASES the chance of people buying Gold Bars while less players directly DECREASES the chance of people f*cking your sh*t up and increases the chance of you making money and thus being less likely to buy Gold.

Also question to the topic,

I am currently set up in the Grizzles for my Moonshine Shack, I have the shop near me for Supply runs and chancing my clothes but it's a dick to get to so I am thinking of changing to either Tall Trees or Bayou Nwa. Thoughts?

I also own the Grizzlies shack and would like some constructive opinions regarding the other shacks.

The Grizzlies shack is really close to Valentine and Wallace Station and while most deliveries are fairly short, some of the delivery locations (I'm mostly talking about you, Chez Porter) are a b*tch to get to.

Good point.

Honestly though, do you think R* will ever fix it? It seems to me like one of those issues where we'll still be talking about hunting in legendary bounty lobbies in a couple of years time.

It is out of the way for most players so I rarely see people. I know alot of people hunt in Tall Trees so my worry is that I might meet a dynamite arrow on my way to sell, Nwa has terrible roads so I dunno.

The Grizzlies Shack has alot of tight turns and bad drops.

They claimed to have fixed it in this latest update but I still see people complain about it. I don't hunt much anymore, Moonshiner with the production speed upgrade makes more money in the long run. I can just set it going and then go off and do Bounties for Gold and Cash.

Yeah, you've got to take it slow in the Grizzlies, there's train tracks, bridges and water to cross during most sales, lots of tight turns and bad tracks too.

I like the location for RP purposes, because it's mostly quiet and that there are 4 camp locations that are really close.

I feel like Hennigan's Stead would have mostly flat roads, but I've seen comments about deliveries/bootlegger missions to Tumbleweed, that's one hell of a treck, not sure I can be bothered with that.

Tall Trees seems to be very popular, which rules it out for me. Bayou Nwa is all twisty roads and bad light, so that's a no for me too.

Moonshiner is good cash and a quick turn over, I like that I can do a $200+ sale every in game day without having to actively manage the business. But it's already getting repetitive.

I'm switching between Moonshiner and Bounty Hunter at the moment, mostly because they both work while Trader is practically unplayable and the Collector "nerf" has dulled my interest in the role. I liked being able to casually ride around and find plenty of items, the drop rate is too low for me now, it almost feels like you have to use the online map now to make it worthwhile, which isn't really what I want to do.

I agree with all that. I might stick with Grizziles. I can handle the slow rides and the less people up there is better.

With limited playing time I like that I can start a batch going, have it finish and have it delivered all within an hour. It's not a slog like Trader is or Bunker from GTAO where I feel like I am forced to AFK and watch TV.

I might do Collector one day. I already have level 20 and I have only ever sold one full set.

I play maybe a couple of hours a night most days and, as you say, Moonshiner fits in very well with that schedule.

I don't do bootlegger missions, I run bounties while the moonshine produces. I probably earn around $40 from those which breaks even against the mash discount bootlegger missions provides, but bounties pay gold on top, so it seems like a more productive way to play.

It's probably more that I feel like Moonshiner and Bounty Hunter are the only roles I can play without glitching solo lobbies or deliberately failing other missions to hunt and there's no fun in following the online Collector map for me.

I sold plenty of full sets before the "nerf", just from riding around with the metal detector out, but the drop rate from playing that way is so poor now that it doesn't feel rewarding.

It was probably too rewarding before, but in my opinion R* have gone too far with the changes they've made.

Only doing them because of the XP, once I max out Moonshiner then I wont do them.

Fine with me, they are my two favourite Roles. Bounty Hunting in the snow was great. Slowly walking upto them with a big furry coat in a blizzard and a masked pulled up looked awesome.

Yea, when people have "routes" or "lines" set up and they plan min/maxing scenarios you know they gonna "fix" it.

It's fine by me too really, I like the shootouts, chases and quick mission turn over in the most part.

I guess it's just my personality getting in the way. I'm drawn to big, perpetual, open world sandboxes because I like the feeling of being able to go off and do different activities on a whim, but when the option is taken away, like hunting is practically impossible most of the time now, it makes me want to do it more.

Oh yeah, Collector was always going to get hit, I feel like R* have over corrected, but I'd got a bit burned out on it to be honest, I hit it pretty hard in the 10 days between update announcement and release.

I hope it gets a favourable adjustment in future though.

I've had the Tall Trees shack since day 1 and rarely see other players around. Never had an issue with people camping outside to mess with deliveries or been attacked at all. Maybe I've been lucky? Made about 15 - 20 sales so far.

The roads aren't too bad either, I rarely break a bottle and never more than 1. Most deliveries involve crossing the stream (on the left side as you head to Blackwater), so I take it easy there.

Haven't checked out any other locations but I'm happy with this one.

Also.. I had a level 866 in my session today.

I like the area more than anything. The cold mountains get a little bleak sometimes.

I thought it seemed fitting for a moonshine operation, out in the woods. Forgot to mention, Manzanita Post is really close by for fast travelling too, you can run to it in 30 seconds.

The closest shops are Blackwater correct? I know it seems fickle but the trek might be annoying after a while

Yeah, it is quite a ride, but $1 to fast travel from Manzanita.

Again, Tall Trees is a good location. The routes are fine, roads are good, revenuers are easy hits on the Great Plains too. I have my camp there 9 out of 10 times and can refresh ammo and cores if needed, fast travel cheap and, if I'm luck, can do some hunting close by too.
Collecting is on a low now. I sold all my completed collections to get back on pre-Xmas level again and don't feel much inclined to get more collections done again. I'm kinda poofed out on collecting. I do pick up the stuff when my controller starts vibrating, though.

The bootlegger missions are kinda fun to do. Not worth much besides mash price reduction, but they are easy, quick, entertaining enough.

I don't trust them to do anything about it neither. As long as the numbers of logins and the influx of new players grow, they deem their game popular and, thus, no alarming issues present. You know, "because, if so many..... "

I'm restricting gameplay to do some dailies for the gold and some moonshining for the dollars and then travel the world and shoot pics to edit. I've got a taste for aging nice scenery shots and intend to do at least all the iconic areas and towns.

This game seems to be buckling under the weight of its own updates much faster than GTAO did. They had to remaster GTAV/O on new hardware to stop it buckling, I wonder if the inevitable PS5/whatever the next Xbox is called remasters will magically solve the issues.

I also wonder, I hear rumours that the PS5 and next Xbox will be able to play PS4 and Xbox One games. Will R* eventually drop support for the old versions?

Not rumours, the next consoles will have full backwards compatibility which is going to mean all of the cross-gen games are going to have to figure out when they're ending support for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Sounds like I picked a bad time to start playing the collector role :) I bought the shovel today--should I still get the metal detector?

It's still very good paying for minimum effort, so yeah, you should still get the metal detector.

Yeah definitely don't be dissuaded by posts being down on it, a lot of the people on this board that did collecting were pretty hardcore about it. It's definitely still very viable, do get the metal detector.

As @Foxwolfe and @Leftover Pizza say, don't be put off by posts like mine, it's still good money and XP, definitely get the metal detector.

Before Moonshiners you couldn't ride for 30 seconds in any direction without finding something, unless you were up in the snow. If you rode around with the metal detector out and Eagle Eye activated you'd be collecting items right, left and center.

The changes feel like an over correction to me, but it is still very much worthwhile.

The Tall Trees shack is the best. Good location, short runs, fast travel close by, easy roads. All the other locations have only some of that, but not all of them. I’d love to have it in the Grizzlies though. That area is great, though I wouldn’t mind the shack had been placed in the actual snow.

I didn't quite know where to put this, it was quite a WTF moment:

0BBFE843751861F3B0C928D3C2FA0E8421C27E87

I shot this NPC at least 50 times and he rode straight into the building, his horse wouldn't die either.

As you can see his head did actually come off, but he didn't seem any worse for the lead filling I gave him.

Okay, when the snow dropped I expected it to last until after New Years so I put off exploring the map and concentrated on getting my Moonshiner to level 20 which  have now done. Before I miss it again can I get some suggestions for place that I need to see in the snow?

Saint Denis is an obvious one. Personally though, I like being up in the Grizzlies West deep snow while actual snow is falling, instead of it being -17°C and raining like it usually is.
