Once you lasso, as you draw the animal closer, you'll get a "Kill" message. On PS4, it's the circle. This automatically draws your knife.

In my experience, any of the deer types. Can also do it on cows. I've tried on buffalo and can't seem to trigger the kill message :)

A video for better context:

Thanks.

Yeah, maybe the larger animals don't give you the option.

Someone mentioned recently how animal spawns are abundant when you're on a mission or have a tight timer to watch, last night while I was plucking a spoonbill, there was a nice plump boar just watching me from about 10 feet away until just before I finished the animation, then he ran off zigzagging between trees. Also while cooking up my game at a fire there were veritable hordes of geese flying above, I saw their shadows, but when I was done, none to be seen. :)

Just R* taunting us again.

I don’t get why everyone’s scared of cougars. Hunting them has become a hobby of mine, and I usually do it with a bow and no dead eye.

Grizzlies, though, are the real threat here, especially if they ambush you from the cover of bushes and trees.

The cougars in RD2 are mere kittens compared to RD1. Those things would not wait for you to jump off your horse and they'd actually bunch up on you. I remember what a thrill that was, on top of a shed in Aurora basin fighting of a HERD of cougars.

... on another note, I’ve found and hunted my very first moose in Online a few days ago. I was lucky it was a 3-star one, and a bull moose at that. I remember getting frustrated in Story Mode, only finding 2-star bulls or 3-star cows.

I remember the wolves in RDR1, always shredding me if I wasn’t running away on horseback. Then, when I got to doing the challenge that had me slay a bunch of wolves with just a knife, they became easy for me to handle.

It’s a shame that going at a pack of wolves with just a knife in RDR2 is practically suicide.

I don't go outside if I don't have to, so I'm no authority on this, but I'm guessing that's what it would actually be.

I think nowadays we are relatively safe in that matter, unless you know you go hiking into the absolute wilderness somewhere in Alaska or eastern Europe on your own, unarmed, like a blasted fool 😄

Don't bring a knife to a wolf fight lol https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wolf_attacks

Or are hiding behind a wagon in a resupply mission.  Took out most of the O'Driscolls, one red dot left behind a cart, thought I was going to pistol whip him but ended up bear food.  Was a bit of a shock, I didn't even know Grizzlies appeared in Cumberland forest.

Yeah it works on Elk and I think it works on Moose but it's rare that I see Moose.  Buffalo you will just kick in the face and ruin the pelt.  I have held a buffalo with a lasso so a posse member could get a clean kill with a sniper but the knife approach doesn't work.

None of the predators scared me with auto-aim but when I'm playing free aim, cougars are my bane when the catch me on foot. They tend not to make a lot of ruckus to announce themselves ahead of time like bears and wolves do and you basically get one shot at them before they're on top of you for the instakill.

Yeah right ? You play free aim then you know cougars are not so easy to get unless obviously you know all them spots they at just to never get caught off guard or, well, like to hide on a rock. But I tell ya, these mother****er's are fast, but the panther somehow is even more vicious.

Ha! Playing with radar off, can easily become a horror show. I do, that from time to time (when I find myself in a solo session).

Got chased, off a cliff the other night.

Sidenote: The most aggressive cougar, IMO - is the one north of Brandywine Drop. That bastard, followed me to that homestead and "munched" my ass right at the door.

I've spilled copious amounts of Bourbon. Trying to escape, that man eater.

I've seen a bunch of players the last couple of days who weren't on the map, yet one was standing beside me at the butchers in St Denis.

I waited my turn to sell, then went to look 'round the corner at some hubub, came back and he stole my horse (possibly by mistake).

So I whistled for the horse until he came back (it still had a lot of pelts and stuff loaded on it), sold my stuff, then went wandering slowly when someone not on the map started throwing dynamite into the street, incapacitated my horse, so I stole someone else's and rode out of town until they called their horse, I called mine again, then took off looking for tarot cards to finish the set of cups.

Are daily challenge/buckle rewards a mix of imperial and metric units for everyone else? I have the units set to imperial but because my disc and console come from a metric market, it makes me think that sometimes the game overrides my setting choice and tries to use the ‘natural’ units the game was set in when purchased.

for example, there’s a daily challenge to fall 3 metres onto your horse. But there’s another challenge to travel 5280 feet [a mile] on horseback or swim 500 feet or whatever. There’s a buckle award for getting a tomahawk kill at a hundred metres I think, but another challenge for travelling 1898 miles. Is it like that regardless of setting and home market for the disc/console, or have I goofed it up by using imperial.

The new Legendary Bounty's name is "Red Ben Clempson".

Why do I feel like that's some sort of joke on the game's name?

I think the next Legendary Bounty should be Cripps. Wanted Dead or Alive for continual theft of camping equipment.

Actually catching him is gonna be a bitch though

Sorry for the double post, the FP sub section doesn't get much traffic it seems.

I've seen a couple of posts elsewhere claiming that collections (coins specifically) are paying more after the tunables updated.

I don't have any complete sets to confirm. Has anyone else noticed this? Or can someone with a complete collection check this out please?

You should be able to see the sell price from the collector's bag at the items wheel. I think it was $540 for a full set.

I'll check when I next get on in a bit, unless someone posts something here first.

I'm not able to get online to check for you, but if my memory serves me well, the set price was $540 before today.

My avoiding of the map is going to be severely tested.

I only need 2 coins, 3 heirlooms, 2 flowers, 1 arrowhead, 2 rings, 3 earrings, 1 bracelet, 2 necklaces and 2 bottles for complete sets.

18 items to collect for almost $3500. I bet it wouldn't even take 2 hours. I'm very tempted.

I can see how it would be profitable during a bonus week and chances that I'm caving in for a week are high. although I really don't need the extra cash, it feels stupid to pass on the bonusses this week.

Basically how I feel. I have more cash and gold than I ever thought I would, or even aimed to have, but, when I could easily make $10k this week by cherry picking the 5 most valuable collections, I also feel like it would be stupid to ignore this bonus.
