Chunkey_Monkey
When you do finaly get your camp close enough to use, Don't bother buying the pamphlet to make split point ammo, thats another broken tool ingame, went thru the cut scenes to make 100 or so and only about 10% actually made it to my inventory Edited December 28, 2018 by GTP_Monkey Poggy and chef_archie
DLKnives
Really? I just now made my first batch but didn't check my inventory afterward. I made a bunch of repeater ammo and some rifle but it kept quitting and I had to keep starting over. Dammit now I have to go check...
RayD70
Seems like you can do too many at once, and then everything bugs out. Try only making 15 or so at a time. Wait for it to calm down (you'll notice it keeps telling you you made one long after you stop). Maybe cook something. Then make another 10-15. Rinse/repeat. Eventually, even doing it like that, it'll start to bug out. At that point, leave the crafting. Either go play for a while, or change sessions. Try again later. Took me a bit. But eventually I got all of them made for every weapon. Topping off causes no issues. And I only use them in Story missions or gang hideouts for the xp bonus. I'll use Express rounds for almost everything else. Hell, I'd use and sometimes do use express rounds for those too. Usually because I forgot to switch. But I like using split points because then I have to make more... which boosts your crafting numbers for the challenge. Poggy
I had the same problem. You have to craft them slowly, completing the animation and having it register each time before doing the next. Even then it sometimes doesn't like it. Same with special arrows. simpjkee
Van_Hellsing
The game tries to upload your inventory to the online servers, I guess. If you craft too many too fast, the new items will not register. So craft a few and back out. Wait a bit and repeat. For me, I managed to craft only repeater and revolver ammo to full capacity. Btw, you do not have to travel all across the map to get to your camp to craft stuff. If I could fire Cripps, he be long gone. There are fire places around the map were you can craft items. Poggy
Ps: for ammo you don't even need a fire, let alone camp, iirc. Just craft. rusbeckia, RayD70 and Chunkey_Monkey

DLKnives
I checked and had all the SP ammo for my repeater but not my bolt-action. I did a gang hideout then made more for my repeater no problem. Have 68 now. But for the rifle it only wants to make a couple at a time while for the repeater I blaze through the crafting. Weird. Sorry for the stupid question but how do you craft SP ammo away from camp? 1 hour ago, The Wandering Hunter said: just buy the special ammo from the gun shop Can't - not high enough level. Plus SP ammo is free - it doesn't count against your regular ammo. I just crafted 68 for my repeater and still have 100 regular rounds. Callahan44
Yeah, you can craft only like 30-50 bullets at a time but its worth it still, easy xp and gold(for completing the crafting challenge). Always use the mortar while on horse and you can craft on the move(not moving fast, but still. Also exiting crafting menu is quicker on horse). Van_Hellsing
Crafting bullets does indeed not require a campfire. But still you can cook meat, bottle tonics AND craft bullets at campfires. No need to travel halfway over the map to Cripps. Qbert
It might be free to everyone or possibly pre order related not sure either way it should of been free regardless. The main thing about SP ammo is it's free so it counts towards the crafting feat. Just sucks these feats stop at

DLKnives
It does? You are magically taking it out of the PO? Wow I'll have to test that. So I guess if you don't have any ammo in the PO it would count against your regular ammo? Or you wouldn't be able to make it? Crazy.

You are right - I went to the PO, filled up on ammo and noted how much I had, then went outside and crafted some Repeater SP ammo. Went back in and I had less at the PO. I guess it's not free like I was told so thank you for pointing this out. Zalwig

IamCourtney
I used it a lot between getting the pamphlet and unlocking Express ammo. Now I don't use very much but its nice to have fallback supply of better-than-regular ammo when extended battles use up all my Express before I can get to a resupply point

Van_Hellsing
Split ammo counts as special ammo. So you get the +5 xp bonus. I never buy regular ammo. You can get it from npc enemies for free. Useful when you grind the rooftops.
