Bakkerbaard
1. Hey, does anyone have a lantern? I haven't checked the fence, now that you probably will mention it, but Horley said right at the beginning there was one for me in the tent, which I never got and I couldn't find it in the catalogue a while back. I don't find myself in a lot of dark caves, so I never bothered to check if it's been added. 2. Which is better in my inventory: Three-star timberwolf or two-star cougar? 3. Damnit, I forgot this one. Oh! The pocket watch. What the hell is the use of the thing? You can even buy one for some daft reason. I equipped one I "found" and it didn't really add to my cowboy experience. When I got rid of it I could still see the time in the start-menu. So... Why would I want to own one? 4. On fishing. Did anyone do the math on which is the smarter move? Like, it seems to me that in the time it takes for me to wrangle an eight dollar pike out of the water, I could catch round about eight pickerels. Add to that I could lose the pike and the pickerels will stay in my pocket forever... Which is always fun in 28° celsius. I'm asking just out of curiosity really, it's still pretty cool to drag a big one out of the water. Gandalf In Space and IamCourtney
Callahan44
1. Yes i got one. Doublecheck the knifes while on horse. 2.i guess cougar but i dont know. 3.i dont think theres a reason...they should add them to clothing and add a small(optional) clock above the minimap to give it some use imo. 4.dont know. Reyvar
Yeah, lantern stays on the horse in online for some silly reason. You have to swap the knife out for the lantern while mounted, then you have both. The watch has to be "equipped" (I think in your satchel, under kit), then it shows up in your radial menu. I think it's in the same spot as the binoculars. When used your character holds it up and looks at it in first person, showing you the current server time. Maybe useful if there are every certain rare spawns that only spawn at a given time?

You can just press down on dpad to see the time without a pocket watch. chef_archie

Thanks though. Now I can go in caves where people can't shoot me. 2 minutes ago, Callahan44 said: You can just press down on dpad to see the time without a pocket watch. Yeah, this thing completely baffles me. I can check the time anywhere else, I'm sure any clocktowers in the game will even show the right time too. And I wouldn't have looked twice if the watch hadn't been available for purchase. Apparently it's got somekind of magical purpose for it to be buy-me-now important. Maybe give it a Hollywood kind of function. That it saves you from one shot to the heart and then allows you to suddenly save the day when all hope is lost. Bud get a wagon without anything in it and has a tailgate, go to big fish spot, back that f*cker up to a rock or hill or something you can walk up and into the back and fill it with fish. You have to sell them one by one at the butcher but it's good money. For me they start to disappear after like 8 or 9 loaded in but also you'll be catching smaller fish too. 19 minutes ago, GTP_Monkey said: Not 100% sure but i dont think you get xp for fishing (will check when next online) I swore you did. They might not be worth hunting as your main target but Big Alligators are a nice side hustle when you're out in the swamps hunting for plumes etc. Easy to find and kill, usually don't run away from nearby gunfire, and they provide Big Game meat and teeth which are safe in your satchel in case of disconnects or other mishaps. The large hides aren't great but I'll carry the best one I find until I bag something more valuable to put in the back of horse slot. Plus, the less common small gators provide hides of equal value while being small enough to carry multiple skins plus a carcass on top. As for bison, I don't hunt them much. Easy enough to take one down for 4x prime beef and some horn but the noise will send the rest of the herd fleeing and it isn't really worth it to keep chasing down more of them. Their habitat is chock full of more valuable animals for the back of horse slot so the hides aren't a great value. If I'm in a session like the one I was in just now a cart really won't do me any good. Unless it's got tracks and a turret. 15 hours ago, Pocket Fox said: Cougars pay better. To be honest, they're my least favourite kind of cat (alright, I'll admit it, I wrote pussy at first) even when I throw bears into the selection. But then I've made a bad call recently. I saw a cougar coming a mile off for once, had to cross some reasonably open terrain to get to me. Had enough time to get a sandwich and shoot it right between the eyes, but the damn thing was two star and I was operating under a three star only policy, so the wolf on the back stayed. 1 hour ago, IamCourtney said: Easy enough to take one down I'm kinda guessing the pay more or less equals the ease with which you can hunt a specific animal. It would explain why an apex predator alligator is out-cashed by a deer. IamCourtney

Cougars high price is really good, herons honestly pay too much. There are many flaws. Alligators are apex predators put theyre still the easiest to farm animals lol. Hunting them is like picking up herbs. I think you still get a lot of money for them, getting cheap reptile meat would also be an option. But better make them more agressive, especially if you start shooting near them.
Bakkerbaard
I'd rather have it not make sense than see another rebalance, to be honest. I can live with it the way it, by now we all know what the best animal to cash ratios are. Speaking of that, I shot an egret again. I thought it was a heron and by the time I read what I was shooting I'd already pulled the trigger. What's the status on the feathers of these things? AUScowboy
You can select watches from your inventory wheel when equip. Pretty cool actually as the hands are animated. ALifeOfMisery and Pocket Fox

I'm pretty sure they didn't have GPS back then, so it makes perfect sense.
