I already figured out that the Mountain Lion you hear near the ruined fort that is sometimes a gang hideout, can be found across the river near to the south. When I was doing the kill 18 bears trophy challenge in story mode I noticed there's a certain bear roar that's just part of the ambient sound of that specific region. The roar was always the same with a bit of echo and sounds a bit different from the bear sounds you hear when you actually spot one. So could be just background sound.
