I know it's a bit too late for a thread like this, but don't you think there would be better/alternate solutions because P2P is an absolute mess and a great example is in that picture above. It's not even your fault if you lag out and disconnect because some dumbass in the lobby used layers of VPN (for all those bawwwsss who'll come here to tell me to get a better connection). The connectivity issue is just one problem, much less the hacker infested lobbies.
What's worse is that they literally raked in billions from both GTA-V and RDR2 combined and yet decided to stick in the same P2P model in RDRO. Yet, they happily push in microtransactions in a 'Beta' game. Or add an RNG unlock grind that'll take 1 year of constant grinding (see this) to get everything at trade price, knowing that the mode will become irrelevant soon and people will have to go for full price = factors into Shark Card schemes.

What miserly reason do you think R* (or T2) have for not improving player experience?

They don't give a f*ck about balanced and fun gameplay. It's all about maximum profits and pleasing the big boys at T2. 

 Any other dev with common sense knows that 30 players connected via p2p is a laggy mess, but not r* they would rather have a game 100% worse for minimal cost savings.

Money. As shown in the rather long formula below:

 

Release awesome game > rake in billions in revenue right in the first month > promote great game with "free" online only updates which only messes up the game more and more, but that are usually fun at some point I guess > ???? > promotes griefing over and over and over, don't give a flying f*ck for balance or QoL anymore > player base gets mad, many swear to abandon the game forever but come back later as soon as a new update drops > ¿¿¿¿¿ wtf + Shark Card pushing > f*cking HUGE profits, world records for so much profits and all

+ connection lost and timed out sessions and long loading times... and there is too much complaining about these things.

i don't think that they don't give a f*ck; i think they just choose what will suits them the best, not the players..

 

 

and i think that they have just small teams working on online, the dlcs, social club, the whole online feels like it is run by a small team of developers; they can't stress themselves out, it seems they r doing things step by step and slowly, trying to push problems away not to find and solve every single one of them.. that p2p system is  kinda relaxing to them,

 

in my perspective, in the online, rockstar tells you to solve your own sh*t or avoid it as much as possible like we do.

and i don't think those who made the game are the same ones who r running the online.. so.. but what do i know anyway..

But someday it´ll reach a break even point between player base size versus servers costs, if it didn´t already. A weak/unfinished multiplayer may stale these numbers forever.

My not buying rockstarts RDR2 nor the upcoming new GTA is my voting with my wallet when it comes to the frustration of trying to game on PC without menu mod griefers in every session.

The same reason R* patches a money glitch within hours but leaves other glitches around for years

The same reason R* closes interiors

The same reason R* takes away your outfits

The same reason R* takes away your share money option

The same reason R* takes away your replay option

The same reason R* nerfs your payouts

The same reason R* nerfs your top performing vehicles

The same reason T2 C&D GTAIV mod & OpenIV

Its getting so bad now, I think Im gonna get a ps4 lol (I'll have to live with 30fps...)

 

I just hope I can still get the character transfer but Im not gonna get my hopes up coz just look at the status of PC servers in 2019 lol same as 2015 hahah thats kinda sad if you think abt it

Good luck trying to convince the GTAO "community" (yes, in quotation marks) to actually protest against R*.

 

In my experience, instead of support, you're only going to get snarky responses like "git gud", "dont like it, dont play it", "its not griefing", "the game is fine" and similar idiotic vitriol. It's like if people actually want to keep the game as sh*tty as possible for some absurd reason and the worst part is that we have the power to actually force R* to change, we just don't want to use it.

 

But until then, we'll get the game that we deserve.

They'll do whatever they find easiest, and enough people will buy it not to matter.

I hated it at first but now I love it because of solo public lobbies. Let's face it, an online GTA game was always going to be highly competitive in an inevitably toxic way,  I would have quit years ago if not for solo public lobbies. When I'm done grinding I join public lobbies and race, play adv modes, missions and FR stuff and I love it. Best solution I can think of for GTAO 2.0 would be no player blips and no constant notifications of who's trying to do what in a given session. Provide lots of FR money maker's, up the lobby capacity and let it happen more organically.

I love P2P. Without it, we wouldn't be able to get solo public sessions. $150m, never paid a cent. Ahhh, sweet irony, how delicious you are. 😁

I don't mind freemode P2P, they're fine the way they are. It's the job lobbies that should be server based, because right now it's an absolute mess especially if the number of players per lobby goes high. P2P only works when there are less people in the lobby (Payday 2, L4D2 .etc.) and the connection distance between them isn't high.

Sometime in recent history the old movie saying "if you build it they will come" was swapped to "if they buy it you will cum"... I think that's when it became ok to start selling **** quality products for more profits than ever before.

 

Anyways, I blame Nelson Mandela and quantum computing for it all.

For all the faults and inadequacies P2P brings, I can't be negative because of the holy grail it allowed, solo public lobbies.

 

I doubt we'll ever see them tolerated in another R* online offering, because they allow players who probably wouldn't purchase microtransactions anyway to avoid the public lobby cesspit.

 

RDO in its current (and possibly ongoing) state would benefit from allowing them, but that won't happen, because of reasons. *Cough* Strauss *cough* money *cough cough* greedy f*cks.

When you do each Stranger free roam mission for the first time it puts you in a solo lobby, but when you're out of Strangers you're sh*t out of luck.

 

There is a way to get and keep a solo lobby if you have two consoles, I'm bringing my spare PS4 home from work after the new year to hit this one, but it's convoluted even if you do have access to two consoles. It might work well for crews such as CEWL though if you've crossed over in any numbers. Might be worth checking the sinful place out 😉.

It's so much simpler to get solo lobbies on PC with the Suspend Process method.
