Slightly bigger fire spread. But I didn't notice much difference compared to normal version. I bought it and tried it. I don't know about its damage though.

It's to slowly bleed money from you so you buy Gold.

It's just a better version of fire bottle and free if you gather the recipes. But if it was night time and there was some sort of fight, it might look better to throw fire bottle to light up the area.

For some reason you start with the fire bottle and volatile dynamite blueprint, don’t waste your money

I can craft Fire Bottles(only when you're below the max amount you can carry) and I haven't bought a single recipe pamphlet, the only pamphlet I have is the Special Health Cure one. Why purchase pamphlets when they're bugged or useless, why buy different horses when all the stats are the same.... Jesus R*, fix your damn game.

I'm going to assume it's for a stealthy approach to stealing from trunk compartments on the back of wagons/carriages but you can simply break those locks with your gun or shoot the lock and get the reward all the same(by reward, I mean the same old loot you can get from anywhere). Other than in the back of wagons/carriages, I have not seen a Break Lock prompt as everything else in Free Roam seems to be unlocked.

Maybe at some point it will be useful during a mission?

I used the lock pick to get into the back room of a saloon from the outside that turned out to be a reinforced poker room with a steel door (for a later update?).  I could exit to the inside of the saloon.  That's it.

I'm able to craft fire bottles and volatile dynamite, despite not having bought either pamphlet. So I'd avoid buying in case you already can as well.

so far this seems to be the best explanation as to what the pamphlet does lol

i can already craft fire bottles with alcohol and fat without the pamphlet, but i don’t, because they’re cheaper to buy since a bottle of alcohol costs more than 75c

Technically the upgraded versions are better as you get bigger aoe etc but unless your the monopoly guy of wild west money best spent on other things cards upgrading said cards. There is a feat for collecting so many different crafting recipes though

Loot alcohol from cabins and other buildings. Animal fat may be more costly, using ammo, as I doubt you can lasso and stab ducks, beavers, or bears.

the thing is, a single deer allows me to buy max fire bottles. crafting them seems silly even when i don’t have to pay for the pamphlet

So far I've found ONE whole lock you can pick/break with that item--the Saloon in Tumbleweed has a "pickable" door at the top of the stairs going around back that lets you in the back way.

No treasure, no NPCs doing anything sneaky...nothing of value--it just lets you in a back door to a vacant room that you can walk in to from the front anyway.

GG, Rockstar.

Official answer is: "Not implemented yet".

Real answer is: "Probably never will be implemented to a practical degree."

Don't get your hopes up. The only updates we can count on are money glitches being patched.

Extra thoughts on this:

R* is clearly desperate for content, but aren't taking the time to implement stuff that would actually DO something, like adding special keys that can unlock certain doors, giving players access to select buildings, loot, etc. Works well in Escape from Tarkov.

There's a cool "kick down the door" animation that does bugger all for locked doors. Brilliant.

How about adding quicksand for environmental hazards?

Or actually letting players swim underwater? I know; so hard to do! *facepalm*

Or randomizing loot, for more spontaneity and motivation to check out new areas?

Listen to your gaming community R*. FFS.

It's kinda functionless.  It boils down to do you want to go farm the materials to make a fire bottle for free or do you want to buy them for $1 each from the fence and not have to farm the materials to craft it.  Me personally, I'm far too lazy to go farm the materials, so I just give the local fence a steady source of income.

If you like catching people on fire, you'll love the fire bottle.

Craft them, buy them, whatever....

but use them!!!!

In story mode I threw one on the KKK meeting... then shot anyone still running!

Fire bottles work fairly well, but (IMO) still burn out a bit too quickly.

I can never kill other players with it, once in gun rush i got choked to death by another guy while he was on fire. This dude went on to win the f*cking match.

He was probably chugging tonics or some bullehit but it was enough to make me rage quit lmao.

Pamphlets are a money sink. A few are very useful, like explosive or split point ammo. Most others are useless.

The tonics are "balanced" by limiting the amount you can craft. The special miracle tonic requires 6 outlandish herbs from the far corners of the map. 6 ingredients means you need to make are round trip to craft one tonic.

Combined with the sluggish inventory system that resets your preferences, the pamphlets are clearly designed to skim off your cash.

^^ In general, pamphlets aren't a bad idea, but they have to represent real, practical gaming value to players--and be modestly priced--or they're just more shovelware/crapware/facepalmware from R*.

Honestly, Leslie Benzies has to be laughing his head off at the joke that RDO is. Even subtle monetization attempts are worthless without enough solid, lasting game play to at least try and entice players to come back and play for even half an hour.

As an example, my understanding is that, when GTA Online was in its development stage, blocks of buildings throughout the map were handed off to 3D designers who had to report back to Leslie as to how their design would practically improve or enhance game play for players. I doubt R* "bothers" with that philosophy now, catering only to closely follow their Story Mode script.

Virtually everything R* has done so far in RDO shouts "we have little to no clue about creating lasting game play" for players.
