Players Killing me for no reason

I was on a mission for my MC club when 3 players in one area started a ramage killing me left and right. I suspect they are friends because they didn't attack each other. This kept happening until I ran out of time to complete my mission. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I may stop playing GTA altogether if I keep getting similar experiences. It doesn't seem like I can go into passive mode as a president of an MC club which I need to be for my missions. Any suggestions to deal with these douchbags?

Don't stop playing GTA altogether, just stop playing GTA Online. You'll save yourself a lot of money that way.

testosteron, off the map and give them a fight! that is what i would  do when ill be attacked by other players. youll still lose your supplies and/or other stuff but make them their win taste as bitter as possible

Small lobbies, solo public lobbies, friend sessions (can still do Contracts, CEO missions, just not sales), or have your friend in something heavily armed to protect you.

Griefing is a way of life in GTAO, but there are many simple tactics to avoid it.

What rank are you in GTAOnline?

Were you playing as a male or female?

Also, they might have thought you were somebody else.

If you were doing an MC mission, they prevented you from finishing the mission by killing you over and over. This is most likely why they did it.

If you can buy an Akula(later, when discounted), then try to play missions that don't feature "mission-vehicles"(meaning which of objective is a package you have to carry rather than driving a land vehicle)

If grinding MC contracts in pub sessions(which you can do in Invite-Only also...), favour P.O.W, By The Pound and eventually Torched. Screw Gunrunning, Jailbreak, Guns for Hire.

Personnally I could fight players frontally but I prefere my off-radar Akula, relying on my knowlegde of the missions, on speed of execution.

Get to know people in GTAO and become friends. Then they can help you out, you can help them.

I have met a great gang of players that are friendly, we have been up to 15-20 people in the session and still keeping it friendly. Everyone is helping everyone.

Lovely way to play GTAO.

If you were doing an MC (or CEO) mission in Freemode then one of the fundamental things that you will have to acknowledge is that these are, by their very nature, competitive / PvP orientated game modes. Other players, if they feel like doing so, can and will join in and play you at them as adversaries, and it is legitimate play.

There seems to be a real lack of understanding about this. I have lost count of the amount of times I’ve had salty messages for defending Torched crates and Headhunter targets, or stealing the Haulage trailer.

So they probably weren't killing you "for nothing" they were playing as invited adversaries to your mission.

True enough but the reward for interfering in other people’s business is always tiny and a fraction of what one can earn minding ones own business.

Therefore despite what you say being true it still takes a special person to want to waste their time messing with other people’s money making opportunities.

Certainly this is of no interest to me but then perhaps my gaming experiences don’t feel lacking if I’m not pissing someone off.

It's not always about the money, the reward. Some like to play those just for the game play. It is symptomatic of what I mean when I say that there is a misunderstanding when many players view those that accept the invite to play these in freemode as "messing with their money making opportunities"

Yes yes we’ve been here before...

Personally I feel this forced PVP is everything that is wrong with the game and I’m not going to be a symptom of that...it’s simply not realistic that everyone is told what you’re doing as soon as you start something that makes money.

Those missions are designed with PvP in mind though. Take Haulage for example. There isn't much challenge driving a truck from one end of the map to the other in the 30 minutes or so that you are given to do it if there are no adversaries to try and stop you or steal your load. There are even extra cabs placed along the route.

Executive Search and Stand Your Ground are two other examples, but I have had messages telling me to back off and go away.

There is already a massive bone of contention surrounding the business delivery elements and whether these should be interfered with, and now players seem to want you out of the missions that are actually set up for PvP.

I’m not disputing your right to partake in these activities obviously designed to be PVP...I’m merely stating it’s a waste of time and what’s wrong with the game.

Knock yourself out it’s not for me and I think many others...I’d imagine the people saying to back off are not ones to mess with others.

I don't think that they are a waste of time, because my focus isn't purely on grinding away to make money.  Some of the best gaming I have had on GTAO has been the hard fought Haulage battles, or Stand Your Ground matches against well organised crews.

It isn't always about making money. At least not for some of us.

Maybe it's my rank, but any time I started those type of missions, nobody would play me at them. Only on the rare occasions did I manage to get some opponents who would defend my Headhunter targets, or defend my Torched crates. I was made up I tell you, because even though I lost I at least had a challenge and some actual game, instead of a dull paint-by-numbers mission to do (again)

So now I try and play them when other players start them up. Nine times out of ten they quit though.

i assume you're playing on pc, which means there are many ways of getting / forcing a solo public session. or if you have friends just use a crew session. and then whenever you're doing business missions you're much safer. and when you actually want to play online against other players, just join a full session. i've been doing this for years and not had any problems.

if you are going to do missions solo in an empty session. remember that the majority of biker sell missions are possible, except post op vans. sea planes is also a little tricky but possible. if you get a hard one, do what you can and then destroy the rest. you still make money without failing the mission.

bunker is possible if you sell at 200k. the rest is possible too.

if you like this kind of gameplay, why not defending random low levels doing a sale against high level overpowered griefers heading for them? Thats how i play on the map curently and its so much fun. unfortunaly the most griefers quit after they have been killed once. But still, its a lot of fun.

Maybe the game doesn't "invite" you to do that kind of thing ;)

I do.

I play in a variant of ways, and don't bother anybody doing sales. What I have always maintained from the start is that it would be legit gameplay though if I did engage with them.

Notwithstanding, the freemode missions, to my mind, are set up for PvP by their very nature, and I like to play those. If players think they should just be able to stand around a smoke beacon for 20 minutes for example on Stand Your Ground for easy money, they have another think coming.

Take a look around in the game, they want us to grief each other.  If u get killed it says how they obliterated you to annoy you more. They give us crazy weapons at crazy prices to unbalance it.  They encourage us with peanuts to pick on each other to destroy valuable cargo.  That's why I only chase money in safe lobbies.  In typical, unpredictable lobbies I go out to fight.  People (like me) who won't bother you when you're trying to sell are an exception, not the rule.

I predict another crapstorm incoming, as it usually does whenever a thread of this nature is started. Better go fetch myself some popcorn in the meantime.

Spoiler alert OP was playing Torched and should go think about why he is wrong.

Sick of getting "wtf is your problem" etc when someone starts Headhunter or whatever in a public lobby, generally with more than one org member, and I decide to take part.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=PTFO

Suggest OP clear up what "mission" they were doing before this just gets locked.

Edit PS "They were friends because they weren't killing each other" - TEAM killing is disabled in many PvP modes, which also underscores my point and highlights it's probably you who done f*cked up, not them or rockstar.

How is it not realistic? Also, there's other mission in GTAO that pay more than free roam.

Free roam is where a lot of the fun is.

Friend killing and team killing is not disabled.

Add someone as a friend on xbox live. Then, set your targeting to "strangers" in the player menu. Then, you can kill all players not on your friends list on xbox live.

yeah, these "PvP" modes were introduced for the players who get their ass kicked in ( balanced and locked weapons) deathmatches over and over again in order to give them, with their superior weapons, at least a chance to get a kill. imho.

seriously: if you want to play pvp, why no DM? whats the reason? tell me!

Go to a Headhunter target and try to kill any random player other than the target Org. Team killing is disabled. I can't remember for sure with Torched but I think it's the same. Bigly.

Its optional, set by the Mc president

No, any random freeroam player who chooses to take part (by going to the objective) is protected from any other random etc etc.

Like I said, just go to someone else's Headhunter target and try to kill anyone else who turns up. Same with the MC one where the targets are in armoured cars.

I do play DM as well lol

Ever tried taking on a crew at Piracy Prevention or Stand Your Ground? You still have to be on foot to score in the scoring zone, so don't try and convince me that I play them solely because I can use something OP to win. I lose probably 9 out of every 10 matches, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun to try at.
