The Wandering Hunter

so i’m rank 64 with 70 gold and £2000 and i’ve got 2 schofield revolvers, a varmint rifle, hunting rifle, bow and pump SG.

they are all fully upgraded in terms of effectiveness in combat. then i have some other weapons which i’ve been ignoring since i bought them.

are pistols useful? the lower reserve ammo capacity of 100 with a faster fire rate puts me off

edit * bolt action rifle not hunting rifle

in terms of camp upgrades, i want the trophy for getting 5. how can i get it as cheaply as possible?

what perk card loadouts are decent btw? i have all the perks at rank 1 currently with a few upgraded to 2. i’m thinking pve and pvp require different loadouts. rank 3 is bloody expensive

and finally, what should i do about horses? the stable upkeep increases by 75 cents with each horse afaik which seems like a crippling amount of money combined with a large camp so all i have is the free ps4 horse and saddle with no spare slots.

is the black arabian worth the gold?

oh, and pamphlets are just a rip-off right? i bought the fire arrows but the effort of crafting them really seems unnecessary when you can only carry 8 then need to hunt ducks for half an hour.

When you say you own the hunting rifle, do you mean rolling block or bolt action?

I would suggest.

-Bolt Action Rifle

-Lancaster/Litchfield based on personal pref.

-Turkoman horse - with the improved saddle that costs 5 gold.

As for ability cards, the one where your hat blocks one headshot also reduces damage you take while wearing a hat. It is good for both PvE and PvP.

Do not bother with pistols unless you plan to pvp and even then, you can get by without. Do not waste time on pamphlets. And do not waste money upgrading your camp step by step. Wait/save to buy the last tent.

now that im 64 i’m planning on buying the biggest tent and milsurp style (maybe, it’s overpriced af). however does that lock me out of the 5 camp upgrade trophy since ill be skipping the pointless tiers?

No. You can still buy useless tent or even flag colors. And hopefully some new stuff soon but who knows.

Load out that's been working fine for me in pvp and pve is, slow and steady, never without one, headshots restore dead eye, deadeye drains slower(I swap this out for pve and use faster health regen)

It is expensive but you wont be disappointed getting those to tier 3. Pretty much a walking tank in deadeye.

I've been curious about a Springfield build with all the +damage perks curious if it can 1 shot at any range to any part boosted enough. Anyone try high damage perks?

Someone posted cost to get all the abilities to tier 3 it was like 37k or something so would love feedback before try it myself lol

Pistols. Only if you dual-wield 'em. Schofield Revolvers, Semi-Auto or Mauser Pistols. In PvE, it just looks cool in close quarters to mid range. But in PvP, it's very situational. I use dual-wielding Mausers when I won't turn off Slippery Dead Eye (Free Aim) and would just spam 20 bullets per reload, aiming to score headshot(s).

In PvE, I would think Health Regeneration cards might be most useful. But I haven't tested 'em out yet. In PvP, I use Slippery Bastard III, Eye For An Eye III, Unblinking Eye III and Never Without One III. Slow and Steady III is a great card as well. But you'd be screwed by Shotguns, Lancaster Repeaters, dual-wielding Pistols/Revolvers, Dynamites, Free Aim and tackles. But if you came up to someone who knew how to use Slippery Bastard III properly, the person with Slow and Steady III would lose. I counter and outplay the Level 100+ with Slow and Steady III, more often than they outplay me with Slippery III. Too many people use Slow and Steady III and the ones with Slippery Bastard III are rare. I still have no problem coming out top places in Most Wanted with Slippery III. Every guy with Slow and Steady III is screwed when I'm in session.

About horses, I would sell the Red Arabian and go with one of the Elite or Superior horses. Turkoman's great if you're gonna be around predators and entering gunfights. Not sure about Fox Trotter, it's only really good for speed. But it shouldn't matter if you got to destination, a few seconds or minute later?

The Black Arabian is more of a luxury horse, I would think. Sure it does have amongst the highest balanced stats, and it's black if that suits character clothing. But you'd probably have to calm that horse around gunshots and predators, or even get off. So you decide if you think it's worth it, or if it matters when around predators or in gunfights.

Not all pamphlets are rip-off. There is a bug for Special Snake Oil which was locked and I couldn't craft it. I send bug report for that. But Small Game Arrow could be great for small animals, better than Varmint Rifle. And still not scare the rest of wildlife in vicinity. Poison Arrow is like an upgrade to normal Arrows, does more damage. It could be great for hunting predators, more cleaner kill than Bolt Action Rifle. The Explosive rounds, I only see them being useful is too many people in PvP matches spam Slow and Steady III. Then it'd take a while to take 'em out. Or not enough Dynamites to throw at them. Or if you can't engage them with Shotguns because you don't have Slippery III but still want to one-shot them. Then Explosive Slugs in Shotguns or Express Explosives in Lancaster, Revolver and (Pistol?) could be useful. But literally all the pamphlets seem useful anyway, if you take the time to gather the recipes for 'em. I don't really see much use for Fire Arrow at the moment, while it one-shot kills anywhere on body.

It was actually $21,600.00. I miscalculated.

($50.00 + $350.00 + $500.00) x 24 cards (6 Dead Eye + 6 Combat + 6 Recovery + 6 Defense) = $21,600.00.

But I'd try 'em all when Tier III.

to be fair there’s a perk that makes the lasso do damage and one that buffs you after a revive which has happened like once to me. then there’s the deadeye perk which heals you.

its not like ill ever get them all

I bought the small game arrows and split point phamblets. Haven't regret the split points. Small game arrows isn't worth it though. Perfect squirrels and woodpeckers dont sell for much... believe it or not🤔

Have you bought any improved saddles? Worth the money imo.

Otherwise there's plenty of money to spend on abillitys. I'm loving Never Without One.

Small game arrows are worth it imo. U get 10 squirrels easy on the road and they sell for 17,50$. 10 singing birds 12$, etc. it sums up if you use it regularly and adds easy 20-30 bucks when selling your deer at the butcher

Do you get 10 squirrels easy on the road? I must be playing a different game

Why use small arrows if you got the varmint? Even if it says you need small arrows for a clean kill,i still get a lot of perfect ones without it. And i dont think you can kill a whole swarm of birds with the bow, with the varmint its easy.

It's about not scaring the animals away. Bows will be silent kills. Some of the birds can be found at ground level, like in ducks near ponds or those turkeys. But if they were in the sky, then probably shoot 'em down with Varmint.

Doesn't slippery bastard drain your dead eye super fast though? (That + every time you die you spawn with no dead eye) or do you stock up on snake oil to always have full dead eye? Either way, I can attest this. I was winning every showdown until I came across some level 150 using slippery bastard.

He kept running up to me zig zagging, then would pop out of dead eye to auto aim shotgun spam me 😂. I'm not awful at free aim but that perk also makes your opponent have more bloom or something. Anyway yeah, that perk is awesome and definitely counters slow and steady.

Squirrels, snakes and small birds cannot be perfect with varmint.

I think there are a lot around Valentine, or Rhodes is also a good spot. I find at least three almost every time I‘m around.

You also can check the same places again, it appears to me that they a respawning after a while on the same spot

It does. That's why I use Eye For An Eye III which refills 1/4 of Dead Eye bar at Level 10. So four headshots = full Dead Eye bar. And Unblinking Eye III helps to slow down the Dead Eye drain. Snake Oil is waste of money IMO. I would craft 'em myself but the Special recipe is bugged and locked. Snake Oil isn't needed to win. I can do just fine without 'em and I need to maximise how much I earn from these Showdown games. I'm not as rich as anyone who does a lot of hunting and fishing. But with full bar, it lasts 20 seconds.

Ah okay, you use the same set up as me, except I use slow and steady. Are you on ps4? Maybe we can play together sometime and dominate showdowns together. My psn is Fonshway if you'd like that. I'll have to give sb a try sometime as well

I can tell you for it‘s rediculous cheap price it‘s totally worth it.

With Express Ammo, Tier I „more damage when stamina >75%“ and Tier II „more damage the less your health core is filled“ it‘s an easy two shot kill, no matter where you hit them.

That means, if your enemy doesn‘t oneshot you through the head, you got him at your second shot. I also like it‘s range very much. Accuracy needs a little getting used to. Rate of fire and reload time doesn‘t really bother me, since your enemy will die anyway, if they don‘t kill you at the first shot ;)

2 shot is too long varmit gets in 5 or more shots perfect accuracy in that time.

Looking for something glitchy. That can get a 1 shot kill any range any part.

Good to know those perks still are 2 shots though so needs more plus damage to be viable 1 shot
