Invite Only Sessions Without PS+?

So my playstation plus has expired yesterday, and yet I can still play invite only lobbies alone. Its not auto-renewed, just expired. What's up with that?

Interesting... you may have solved one of the stat mysteries. 

 

EDIT - in case anyone's wondering, since the After Hours update, Rockstar added a multiplayer statistic to the game with the name "MPPLY_WITHOUTPSPLUS". 
I would guess that this gets set to true when the game is launched without PlayStation Plus active so that you're able to still play GTA Online, albeit in a limited sense. 

Pretty cool if this speculation is accurate.

I guess if in a few days it is still playable, then that speculation may be accurate. Although its worth noting I tried this morning to play RDRO and I was also able to (inevitably in a public session too), so I don't know if  playing invite only has anything to do with it. Does that "MPPLY_WITHOUTPSPLUS" statistic also appear for RDRO?

Ahh I have zero information whatsoever about RDO I'm afraid, I'm not able to pull that info. 

I would make an assumption that it would be though, given your info.

Exactly as you said buddy. 

Supposed to work with RDR Online too. I've heard it's supposed to give you access for two weeks, but there's individuals who've had access for over a month without PS Plus.

Well it finally ran out and I was unable to join anything relating to online without being prompted to the "buy ps plus" page. Perhaps that stat was removed at some point? I can still join through signing up a dummy account and milking the free trial from that though.
