The_MaVeRicK
Wanted to share some of findings from testing the new wheelie system as well as give my opinion on it, and get your tips and opinions as well. For those who don't know yet, any muscle car in the game now can launch into a wheelie if you rev it up by holding acceleration and handbrakes then letting go of the handbrakes. One thing I have found out while testing is that this is completely tied down to engine upgrades, although which engine upgrade level doesn't seem to affect it too much. This means that a car with stock engine will launch into a small wheelie. A slow car with stock engine will fail to go into a wheelie, it will try but the front tires won't lift off the ground. A very fast muscle car will still wheelie with no engine upgrades installed but will be much slower and easier to handle during the wheelie. Unfortunately, R* has put no effort into perfecting or just refining this function. With the engine upgraded, the wheelie will straight up throw the front end of the car as high up in the air as possible, forcing the rear end of the car to -ofc- slam right into the ground, dragging through the road and slowing the car. Cars with a longer rear (like the faction for ex.) or cars with a wheelie bar installed, will end their wheelie very quickly because the rear side smacks into the ground too fast and pushes the car forward. While cars with shorter rears will lean too far back resulting in the rear wheels losing traction and slowing down the car, or (if you're not careful) resulting in the car completely flipping backwards. There is absolutely no accounting for the mass most of those cars should have at the front which should prevent them from flipping back so cartoonishly. Having a wheelie that -in most cases- ends up slowing down your car is quite disappointing. This -just like the advanced flags fiasco- is another case of R* testing out new lines of code and using us as beta testers for GTA6. That being said, I have found a few to ways manage wheelies and maybe have some fun doing them: Make sure to test any muscle cars you have in your garage to find which has a better shape\size for fun wheelies. Try removing the engine upgrade from your fastest muscle cars and testing them. You can grab cheap muscle cars off the street and add any level engine upgrade to it at LSC and wheelie with it. It doesn't really need to have other performance upgrades unless it's super slow. Don't bother with wheelie bars. Most importantly: do not go full throttle at first! The trick is learning when exactly to let go off the acceleration button and then tapping it repeatedly, you'll sorta need to figure out the different timings for different cars. You're basically trying to avoid the car's rear side from slamming too hard into the ground. If you do it right, you'll notice the car pull a benny's act like it has lowrider hydraulics at the front: the front wheels will lightly tap the ground then lift back up. Once the car gains enough momentum, go full throttle and you can drive in full wheelie for a -hilariously- long time. elfoam
Putting such a bad implementation of physics into the game would have NEVER happened under the watch of Mr Benz, this I'm sure about.

Carbonfiberpizza
I agree on the weight distribution part - but the other points seem a bit moot to me, since that's also what happens in real life? Everything you said with the clipping of the rear of the cars occurs here; the only problem I can see is that the collision of the rear to the ground has too much traction and does slow the car down. But that's part of the core physics. This also adds an element of skill to the wheelies (though on longer cars it's just luck) - if it did a perfect one every time it'd just be a novelty. Erased
Has anyone figured out a surefire way to do a long wheelie every time? I have been trying since they've implemented it into the game. I can usually do one really good one and then it just goes into the like hydraulics mode where it just pops up super fast and goes right back down. Depends on the car I guess because the only car I've noticed so far that does it every single time is the Dominator GTX. Everything else though is like I explained. Mach1bud
Tbh I kinda wish they toned them down a bit so the bumper doesn't drag. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible due to every car being a different size/shape. Some of them in stock form do nice little wheelies that are realistic looking, like you would actually see at the track. RoxysGotKicks
Has anyone figured out if muscle cars upgraded with hydraulics at Benny's Original Motor Works from the Lowriders update affect wheelies? I primarily use the Albany Buccaneer Custom as a favoured car, but the wheelies seem weak even after modding the engine to EMS Upgrade Level 4. I'd like to drag race with it, but there just isn't enough power. Is this due to hydraulics or upgrading at Benny's?

Being a Bennys car doesn't matter, except that the Buccaneer is very low to the ground, so it probably won't do good wheelies since the back bumper will hit the ground almost immediately. IceDree
@RoxysGotKicks sounds just like the Chino custom. It barely lifts up, even with full upgrades. I don't know about the Primo, but I don't think Benny made a difference with the Chino ... It wasn't a performer to begin with it. More of a cruiser. @Mach1bud oooh the Buccaneer custom can wheelie.
